€825 :(. Cheapest it's ever been, but still a lot for a 28 year old. The joys of driving a car in a high insurance bracket!

Interesting. Husband passed his driving test the other day. He is 37 and only driving 9 months but Axa wont let him take out a policy in his own name on our 318ci as its too high performance. Er yeah ok JOKE!

Insurance companies do have a stupid idea of "performance" alright, but it's nice to see they're not discriminating against age on this one

discovered the front of the E39 has been smashed up and put back together pretty poorly.

OH gave it to her old man while she was in NZ. I spotted it straight away on return....

Bumper has been off - need to take it off to see what damage lies beneath.

I dropped my Passat off to be fixed.

I was given a 06 Nissan Almera as my punishment

Kicked the shyte out of it.

Spent a few hundred on stuff for it over the past few weeks while waiting for someone to fit a starter motor for me,

he arrives today, the fukcing head gasket is gone. wish i knew that for the past 6 weeks since it was parked up.

    Fookin BMW's,

Quoting myself from a previous post,

Its my first bmw so there's a lot resting on it, if it turns out to break my heart I'll be back in a rusty old toyota before you can say "achtung!"

Has anyone got a carina II for sale? :P

Just to add the Almera has now been giving a full clean on the inside.

It smelled like ****e after I picked it up and I wasn't bothered living with it for 10 days like that

Yup. Can sort of understand but there may be insurance implications. she's gutted about the car (no injuries) and doubly gutted about the cover up.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,502 ✭✭✭barura

That is pretty crazy. But if people are okay, then that's what matters in the end.

I;d be asking the person who crashed it to pay for damages, especially if the tried to cover it up.

I bought a 00 Toyota Corolla 1.4l VVTI on thursday, my FIRST car. Only 69k on it, and it's practically mint. Just spent some time cleaning it is all. Paid 1500 :)

    Fookin BMW's,

I am not sure how the modern BMW's are but years ago when the head gasket's went on them they were notorious for making the pistons go "Egg" shaped.
Burned oil as fast as you could give it to them .

After washing and wet-waxing the car yesterday, I finally got a chance to give it a proper going over today.

Paint cleaner, polish & wax. I don't know why I bother to be honest as it'll get manky again in a few hours. At least it's protected I suppose!

Hahaha I had to park the car in a certain way that half of it was covered by the front porch! It's not raining heavily here, just drizzle on and off but still enough to make **** of the job had I not done that.

Drove my car noticed the turbo wasn't working.

    Put a pipe back on.

Drove my car, noticed the turbo was working.

    Great succes!

I drove mine to listen to that lovely wheel bearing groaning noise again :(. I'm nearly sure both of the front bearing's are groaning, moaning feckers.

Fitted an xcarlink adaptor so now I can listen to my iPhone and mp3 player in the car. A lot of the dash had to come apart to fit it though, so it took over 2 hours. No broken clips surprisingly though :D

Well, our definitions of 'modern' may differ - It's modern to me, a 1995 e34, :D

It won't even be getting dirty looks off me, never mind oil! :p

I'm off to the bangernomics thread to start again, im excited!

    LOL
I am talking late 70's models.
I had a 520 back then and head gasket went. Couldn't draw oil to it afterwards.
Sold it on and bought a Manta after that. < Great fun :D

Two tie rods, two shocks and an Abs sensor.

That's what's left on the list for the NCT, I have all the bits sorted. Reckon I'll do them either tomorrow or Wednesday, and book it in then.

    Needs fecking tax now, too.

I'm thinking of rolling my car off a cliff. It works fine but it's a horrible noisy vibration-ridden POS. I'm seriously considering an E36 323/5i.

Fitted a set of 20's (and puts on flame suit) with good (well, plenty of tread) Pirelli rubber on them. Cheaper than replacing 3 of the standard tyres and now I have a matching set of 4 instead of a pair on the front and a different pair on the rear :D Time will tell if the tyres are any good in the wet, but fingers crossed.

Just need a set of wiper blades and she's ready for her DOE :D

The 'new arrival' I mentioned a couple of weeks ago has turned up :D Started a thread in DIY about this but might as well pop it here too

Well myself and Drummerboy08 bought an EG Civic hatch. This Civic is quite famous, it's the one that was used by MidnightEG to 'egg on the punters'

It's currently got a 1.3 carb engine inside but that'll be changing very very soon ;) It will have a vtec roar in the near future.

We stripped it out today, the dash still needs to come out though.

Initially we bought this car with the intention of throwing in a vtec engine some brakes (maybe) and a cage for trackdays. Those plans have changed a little now. This *may* make an appearance in the ITCC.

We're going for a B16a engine (Civic SiR engine) with cams, Neptune Demon ECU (I'll be tuning that myself :o) It will have a host of other bolt ons and handling mods. TypeR brakes will be a must too with racing pads and discs. If it does make an appearance in the ITCC it will be Drummerboy08 doing the driving. We'll have more pics tomorrow ;)
