one of the best hurlers to play the game and would have made any team. Galway certainly could do with a player of his quality.

Mixed luck for Cork teams in today's Munster Intermediate club championships. Ballinhassig bowed out of the hurling when beat in the quarter final replay by Limerick's Ballybrown 3-10 to 2-7. However in the football quarter final St Vincents had a comfortable victory 1-12 to 0-6 over Tipperary outfit Moycarkey-Borris. St Vincents play Clare Champions O'Currys in the Munster semi final next weekend at a Cork venue.

Well done to Rockchapel footballers on winning today's County Junior title 1-7 to 0-7. A well deserved title for the Rock who have put in great effort and commitment over the past year to win this. Also well deserved after the blackguarding the Duhallow board done to them 2 years ago but the Duhallow board paid a big price with the Rock players refusing to play for the Duhallow senior team and rightly so.

Great to see Kildorrey win a county title after some agonising defeats in football county finals in recent years after they won today's County Junior hurling final replay 2-8 to 0-13 against Brian Dillons but judging by the radio Dillons threw this game away but I'm sure that won't bother Kildorrey too much!

Great to see Castlehaven having a big victory today in the Munster senior football championship against Drom-Broadford scoring an impressive 1-15. There has been some very negative comments about the Haven the past week and while last Sunday's game against Duhallow was poor it was never going to be easy for the Haven against such a negative defensive team that are Duhallow. Delighted to see them answer their critics today with a fine attacking display.

Congrats to all, they're will be a lot of bookies in west cork a lot poorer after the haven win, heard there was some serious money at decent price from way back for them to take the county. Good on them.

Happy enough with the haven win. The score was a bit flattering due to the sending off 10 or 12 mins from time. The guy that was sent off had a severe "brain fart", I dunno what he was playing at. Haven reeled off 5 points in the last 8 or 9 mins.
Dr Crokes are still hot favourites for Munster, I just hope we get a chance to play them.
League final against nemo next weekend, 4 or 5 of the starting championship team are expecting to be rested. They have had tough, physical battles for 4 or 5 weeks in a row.

What that the time Kanturk were put through because of Aidan Walsh was absent due to Cork being in the All Ireland? Am I correct?

Delighted for Rockchapel, I heard stories that the training they put in was massive for a junior club. Hope they go on further now and make history.

Basically the Duhallow junior football championship starts out with 2 rounds, every team plays 2 games. Any team that fails to win a game goes out,a team that wins 1 game will qualify for the knock out stages while a team that wins 2 games will qualify for the semi finals. In 2010 Rockchapel won their 2 games while Kanturk won 1. However at a board meeting the Duhallow board ruled because of Aidan Walsh's Involvement in the Cork football team and the difficulty in organising fixtures Kanturk were duly promoted to a semi final spot at the expense of Rockchapel! At the time Aidan Walsh's father was vice chairman of the Duhallow Board!

Needless to say Kanturk and Walsh's father became very unpopular figures and as a result Kanturk have become a very unpopular team as a result however I will say that I know a number of ex Kanturk GAA players who were embarrassed and disgusted by what happened in 2010. Even though Walsh got the proportion of the blame the whole Duhallow board were to blame for this disgraceful decision. As much as people are critical of the Cork County board their angels in comparison to the Duhallow board! Aidan Walsh's father resigned soon after that shambolic carry on knowing he made a very ill advised judgement!

Going back to Rockchapel's triumph there was great scenes of celebration last night in the village. They made their first stop in Newmarket on the way home bypassing Kanturk! There was a great welcome for them in Newmarket, the 2 clubs have a very friendly close relationship and it was great to see both sets of supporters celebrating a great victory.

Rockchapel will have to wait till December 2nd to play their Munster semi final against either Kenmare or Waterford opposition. While it's a 4 week wait I think this could benefit this team who IMO have a great chance of bringing back the Munster junior trophy to Cork for the first time in many years, probably since Canovee's victory a good few years back.

Spot on. Delighted for their manager Tom Doody who after years coaching numerous other teams came back to his home village to coach them to county success.

Good to see Castlehaven get a fine win under their belt.
Sad to Seán Óg retire - a proper legend of modern day sport.

one of my favourite cork players for a long time.always cleared the ball with little fuss .disliked the fact that many people saw him as a mouthpiece near the end of his playing days.

John Gardiner was dropped from the Cork team today and theres no sign of him running to the papers saying he's been forced to retire like Sean Og.

Never had anytime for the man worried about one person and one person only and thats himself. One of the most over rated players of the last 10/15 years.

Because of the image of him being "nice" "gentleman" etc etc it creates the secenario whereby people seem to be afraid to criticise the guy! Some of his comments about Denis Walsh after he dropped him say it all about him showed his true colours on that one.

Sean Og was/is no worse then others, but he gets portrayed as a saint, and a saint he is not. 2005 sportsperson of the year, he wasn't even the best player on the team, either of the O Conner twins would have been more deserving! Plus Tadh Kennelly achieved the small feat of winning an AFL premiership medal that year!

perhaps he should have refused the award.please don't mention that Kerry player to me.the only award he should have received was for the most cynical foul.i don't know Sean og personally so couldn't comment he is charming or not.

Walsh will definitely not, came out a few weeks ago and said so - the fact that he is playing on two divisional teams as well as both club teams and the footballers means he will not.

He was never going to turn down a chance to be on TV now was he? Oh ya had to have been the worst foul in the history of the GAA...

its a first for me having to defend Sean og against a "cork supporter".as for kennely he admitted himself that the sneaky dirty foul on Nicholas Murphy was totally premeditated.not the worst foul ever but done his best to break his jaw.interesting to see who you consider a fine sportsman

Gardiner possibly worth a place on the panel but his form the last 2 or 3 yrs not enough to start imo. time to give W Egan and C Joyce some game time.

Gardiner a great servant to Cork but the strikes took alot out of him, but he's well able to play his way back into the squad if he regains form.

Was very impressed seeing him play for the U21's last year but saw him recently in the intermediate final against Kilworth and didn't think he looked intercounty material at all. You would be expecting more than a point from play at intermediate level from a player if they were a genuine intercounty hurling prospect

On his day not too many inter county defenders would mark Walsh. However, this day does not come enough. Some days he can look like an average junior hurler and unfortunately this is the case more often than not.

...do either of you two know how many GAA matches Aidan Walsh plays a year?

Also why do we have to deal with anti-Cork people from Kerry and elsewhere making ludicrous posts about Sean Og and others in this thread.

    CIT Football,
    CIT Hurling,
    Kanturk Intermediate Hurling,
    Kanturk Intermediate football,
    Duhallow Senior Hurlers,
    Duhallow Senior footballers,
    Cork Senior footballers.
    Any more?

For lad, who had just out of U-21 level its a fair amount of commitment alright. I couldn't believe when Counihan dragged him up to Donegal to play a league game after playing extra time on a mucky pitch in the Fitzgibbon final!

Explain whats ludicrous about the comments about him? So you agree with him undermining Denis Walsh? The man he went on strike to get in. Its also strange when he said he was ''forced'' to retire he seemed to forget how he was one of the main men that forced Gerald McCarthy to do so. But of course in the deluded eyes of Cork people thats was different
