    CIT Football,
    CIT Hurling,
    Kanturk Intermediate Hurling,
    Kanturk Intermediate football,
    Duhallow Senior Hurlers,
    Duhallow Senior footballers,
    Cork Senior footballers.
    Any more?

For lad, who had just out of U-21 level its a fair amount of commitment alright. I couldn't believe when Counihan dragged him up to Donegal to play a league game after playing extra time on a mucky pitch in the Fitzgibbon final!

He doesn't actually play senior hurling with duhallow but still it's a lot of teams

Just heard Niall McCarthy has also retired from the Cork senior hurling. Instrumental in 04/05 in the all Ireland winning teams. He had bad run of injuries last year and I suppose he just wouldn't have enough in the tank for another year. Not everyone was a fan of him throughout the years I wish him the best of luck in future endeavours

Was never his biggest fan but you have to admire that the man gave everything and did alot of dirty work around the park for Cork

Apparently he is going abroad in the new year for a period of time so that probably aided his decision.

Sorry to here bout Niall Mac. A powerful hurler. The sight of the white and green helmet bursting forward, ball in hand, from midfield would raise the temperature of the stand down the pairc. Best of luck to him

Nicholas Murphy retiring. A great servant for Cork, delighted he finally got his Celtic Cross in 2010

Great player and delighted he got his well deserved AI medal.

    ah jaysus another one?! :(

Best of luck to Nick. He was a great impact sub for us in recent years including the final in 2010 and a great servant to Cork overall.

Aidan has suggested he'd like to play SH but now he is in DCU where Sigerson will require a certain commitment so I think 2013 is a non runner, he has to do it soon. With catching now the most important skill in the game he would be a great asset. Also with Sweetnam gone and unlikely to return.

Where?? He came out a few weeks ago to say it was impossible - doesn't matter about him being in college http://hoganstand.com/Football/ArticleForm.aspx?ID=179944 - we spoke about this about five pages back, its old news and not really there for debate for 2013, or beyond by the sound of his statement.

Where is the source for Niall Mac retiring - I don't think he is retiring, I believe that he is going travelling for the year, which rules him out for 2013, but I don't see why not 2014. Has his AI and now his county medal, will be a big loss for Carrig though. Cronin is suspended for the first game of the new season as well - no real puck out option.

Sars a goal behind at ht. Could go either way. If they more ball to Cussen he will cause a lot of damage

    Sars 2-15 v Tip Sars 2-20

They got level going into injury time but conceeded 1-2 in the 3 mins inj time.

Cussen was causing problems in the first half and was moved out the field in the 2nd half and barely saw the ball - he really should have stayed put at the edge of the square. I thought Quigley was very good at midfield.

Not much between them I thought.

I thought Cussen was moved out to win puckouts/ clearences. Sars won little or none in the 1st half. Unlucky overall given the effort they put into 2nd half.

Agree on Quigley, unfortunatly a Wexford man.

Well done to St Vincents today on qualifying for the Munster Intermediate football championship final today after defeating Clare side O'Currys 0-7 to 0-6 in Pairc Ui Rinn in a tough encounter. They now face Kerry side Finuge in the final in Mallow on Sunday November 25th. St Vincents chances of winning this out have surely improved after Finuge star player Paul Galvin got himself stupidly red carded once again in the other semi final today thus been banned for the final the idiot!

That's great news. Vincents would have handled that Galvin fella alright:pac:

Wish I'd known about it I'd have popped up to look at it.

Vincents vs. Fingue would be a tough game to call - similar enough teams, both of whom enjoy the physical aspects of the game and defend well.

I'll go for Fingue to win based on Vincents having no weekend off since winning the Cork Championship, three tough games in a row will take their toll on any team. Will try head back to the game if I can, should be good.

The fortnight off for Vincents now till the final should help their cause some bit surely? Could be a dour defensive low scoring game. Even though Paul Galvin would be a big loss to Finuge IMO a North Kerry work mate reckons Finuge are better off without Galvin,he's a disadvantage to them he reckons!

I hope he is ball-hopping...if he's not he is clueless.

Forgot about that - would have thought they'd be trying to get the championship over and done with to be honest.

Would expect that type of game alright but Galvin will be a loss - take an inter county player out of a club team and you're immediately weakening them.

Plus they already have lost Eamon Fitzmaurice with a broken jaw

I'd have him pegged as a bigger loss than Galvin.

Despite pushing on in years he's a rock at the back for them and a guy who very much looks after himself - his leadership will be a big loss.

Paul Galvin would be a loss to every single team in the country bar none, let alone an Intermediate Club side.

Yes Fitzmaurice is a huge loss aswell but tbh it pales into significance when compared to Galvin, really Cork peoples irrational hatred of Galvin is pretty funny and absurd.

Plays as a forward for his club team.
