I have friends I don't get to see very often these days so it's nice to see milestones their families have reached. My youngest will be starting school on Monday and I'll post up a picture on facebook, for myself more than anyone else - facebook can be a handy little photo album of events when you look back through it. If anyone that's friends with me doesn't like it they can go f*ck themselves tbh.

Kids only start school once. It's a huge milestone. A lot of people will care about it.
I have a niece who is starting school on Monday and I can't wait to see the photo, like the rest of my family.

I'm sorry but I think that you may be on your own on this one. I agree with most of the giving out on here about stupid things that people post but I can accept a child's first day as being an acceptable enough post. It's a big moment, just like the birth of a child, graduation, etc. One picture I can cope with. Now if it was Jr's first day and then first bit of homework and first picture etc then it would be going too far.

Facebook is the perfect outlet for times like this. For sharing moments that you want people in your life to see when it's not as simple as them just being there.

I'm going to presume you're a teenager from the way you're phrasing sentences. If you're not, you really need to grow up. How is posting a picture of your child on their first day of school any more attention seeking than any of the other stuff people do on facebook?

Also, there's handy things you can do if seeing a kid in a uniform is clogging up your feed and making you miss out on all the Miley Cyrus jokes such as blocking an unfriending.

I think this thread has gotten a bit ridiculous now, sure people do put annoying stuff up on Facebook but a kids first day at school, I don't see that as attention seeking.

What's next - ohh look at you you got married who gives a crap or graduated from college or got a new job whoopde do! Who cares.

I would question what is acceptable to put up for people irritated by the sharing if big life events?

If someone posting something that's important to them and their family and friends irritates you then I would suggest you just don't like them and therefore shouldn't have them on your Facebook in the first place maybe.
