    I've noticed notifications don't automatically clear any more. In the past xing out of the popup, or replying to the message would clear the status bar notification, and widget.

    Noticed that myself, the "clear" button works perfectly though

    That is a known issue that we hope to resolve soon. Sorry for the temporary inconvenience :(

    Cool! Thanks.

    @ Viber:

    Hi, I have just installed Viber onto my HTC Wildfire S.
    I am with Vodafone, Pay As You Go.

    (I am also not phone savvy so bear with me if I am asking stupid questions!) :rolleyes:

    My sister in NZ told me to download Viber so we can contact each other cheaply & easily.
    From what I gathered from the description of Viber on Android Market was the only charges incurred were connecting to internet charges on your phone.
    As I am on Pay As You Go with Vodafone I think I get charged 99cents per day if I connect on that day.

    Just wanted to know if I have this right!? That the only charge is the internet connection charge from my network?

    Thanks! :)

    Oh and also when Viber installed on my phone it asked me to enter my mobile number then said it was going to send me a text with a 4 digit PIN, I got the text and I went back in to Viber to enter the PIN but it didn't ask for any PIN and I couldn't find anywhere to enter it...it just shows screens with other Viber contacts, messages, settings etc.
    I just want to make sure I have it set up properly, Thanks!

    Your phone might have automatically picked up the 4 digit code from the text, happened to me when I started using it.

    And yes, should only be 99c a day for data/free if you're only using wifi at home/college/work.

    @Viber - any plans for a Blackberry app?

    @therealgirl -
    As nicely explained above, Viber itself does not charge you anything. All charges for data (if any) are decided by your cell provider. So if it's 99c per day of usage, that's what you pay.
    Remember that using Viber on WiFi is completely free, for sure.
    About the code - yep, as explained above in some Android devices the code is automatically inserted and the app is activated and good to go.

    @CantGetNoSleep -
    We're at the final stages of coordination with RIM and the app should be released very soon. We should hopefully have news soon, and I'll keep you posted :)

    just wondering wether landscape mode will be implemented soon? With my SE Xperia pro i use the hardware keyboard for everything which makes the phone normally go to landscape. Just not in viber hehe

    Beyond that: thanks for the program! With my new appartement with WiFi this is going to save me a lot of money!

    Landscape mode is currently implemented only on the Messaging screen.

    We do plan to implement it to the rest of Viber's screens in the future, but we are not sure exactly when that would happen. We apologize for the temporary inconvenience :(

    Are ye thinking of putting an online feature next to your viber contacts?

    Now that would be handy! I know viber is meant to be an always-open always-online app but so many people I know are never online as Vodafone have no decent PAYG data plan yet!

    We have received this request from users in the past, but we are still considering whether or not we want to add this feature, due to user privacy issues. Hence, it might be adding it as an optional feature some time in the future.

    Meanwhile, when you use Viber, you can tell indirectly if your contact is online as follows:

    When you make a Viber call, you will first see "Calling". It will change to "Ringing" if your contact is online and their phone is literally ringing.
    When you text, "Delivered" means the message has been received on the other side's phone (he's online). If you only see "Sent", it means it's been sent from you, but pending the other side to come online (they're offline at the moment).

    Any plans to introduce led notification in the future?
    Would be nice to get BLN notifications with Viber.

    I find the alert/ringtone much too quiet, and miss loads of calls - any chance of setting custom ringtone soon?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 513 ✭✭✭Viber

    @G1032 -
    Hmm.... this is a nice idea. I'll pass it on and we'll see what we can do :)

    @dragona -
    Customizing the ringtone is definitely on our list of development. We are not sure exactly when it will be ready and available, but know that we're working on it.

    What he/she said :D ^^^

    The coordination with RIM is over, but we are now making last adaptations and fixes. We apologize for the prolonged wait - we're working around the clock to bring the beta version to the world.

    Once we have news, I'll let you know :)

    I like Viber and use it on the daily basis together with whatsapp and some skype, I am using SGS-II at present, my wife is using iphone 4, but recently we noticed some problems with communictaions, for instance the beginning of call it shows "good network quality" and we can hear each other very clearly for the first 3-5 seconds. Afterwards the app shows "bad/low quality" and we cannot hear each other at all or only one side conversation occurs. We are both using Viber with Vodafone PAYG , often while roaming in Europe, particurarly France (for a cheap daily fee of 2 eur per 50 MB, thanx to Vodafon). This happens not only while we both are using mobile data network (SFR), but when one of us is connected via WiFi as well.
    Could it be the cause that Vodafone itself or SFR as roaming mobile data provider blocks Viber connections/ports/hosts?
    Thank you

    There could be many "bottlenecks" on the way that could cause this issue.
    Usually, the best way to determine if it is the cellular network's "fault", it is a good idea to test Viber when both sides are connected to a high-speed WiFi network. In that case, does Viber work just fine?

    When we both using wifi, or while speaking to the third party via wifi there are no such problems at all.

    Looks like SFR or Vodafone are blocking Viber, as I've tried Skype audio call at the same time and place Viber had "bad/low quality connection" and it worked with a reasonable quality

    I use the paid version of light flow, and it has a notification setting for Viber, my LED glows purple when I get something from Viber :)

    Looks like viber is being blocked in Dubai. Its working on my 3g connection,but not my broadband. Btw, I keep missing calls as the do not ring on my phone. Instead when I open the app I get a notification to say 3 missed calls etc. On desire s.

    @WXF -
    SFR are known to be blocking Viber in France - that might be the reason for the problem you're experiencing, alongside simply having a bad signal. Unfortunately there is not much we can do to help with both these issues :(
    Note that we are continuously working on improving Viber's handling of poor signals (especially on cellular networks), so you can expect an improvement as time goes by.

    @Bluefoam -
    The authorities in the UAE have decided to block Viber in the whole country, and that is why you are experiencing this issue. Unfortunately there is not much we can do to help :(
    Try contacting the authorities and ask for the reason for this block.

    About your missed calls - may I ask what Android version you have installed?

    Thanks, version is Android 2.3.5. I'm sure it'll be blocked on 3g soon too. Great app!
