Can we not use spoilers now?

I completely missed Sokka being in the flashback. Did we also get to see an older Toph too?

It's brilliant that bloodbending is back. For me, the Puppetmaster has to be one of the darkest episodes from Legend of Aang.

possibly put tarlock on as a possible Amun suspect since he could in theory use bloodbending to block bending?

I think no, specifically because his reaction when korra accused him of being just as bad as amon.

No! I refuse to look at that spoiler. Must remain strong. Must. Remain. Strong.

Yeah, that didn't last long. Ohh interesting though.

Fantastic Episode. Legend of Korra is proving to be a worthy sequel to TLA!

That courtroom scene seems massively important - am I right in saying that all flashbacks/hallucinations take place there? I wonder if that's also where Sokka dies. It'll be massively brave if they show that.

Yep, it certainly is extremely important.
If anyone is interested, here's some an interesting theory and analysis of the flashbacks - http://birdbrainblue.tumblr.com/post/24281699688/an-analysis-of-the-flashbacks
Its just a theory! :P But its a good read.

Very very excited for next week's episode! I did not anticipate THAT ENDING  Wow. I really hope they do something cool with the flashbacks. And that Korra manages to get in spirit-contact with Aang soon.

I wonder how they'll do it - will Avatar Aang be the older version we see or the younger version from previously? It'll be interesting to see who they get to voice him.

    Is that an older Toph?

Older version I guess - the one you see in the flashbacks that looks like Tenzin :D And yes, that's definitely Toph!

It'll be fascinating who they get to voice him.

I think it's fair to say that this show has more than made up for that abomination of a movie!

Seen that being linked in alot of places, its a pretty interesting read and makes enough sense to be pretty plausible and i wouldnt be surprised if he was spot on.

As far as it showing Sokka dieing i doubt it highly as you gotta remember this is still a kids show on Nick and remember how they dealt with Jet in the original series? Also i doubt they would kill off any of the beloved original characters except from old age

While I agree about that, it would make more sense for Sokka to die in battle than from old age. I would love to see that he had a warrior's death.

I presume Amon has to be someone we know already, would it be too cliched for it to be the daughter

Not cliched but too easy an option i think

I somewhat hope it's not somebody we have met yet.

I highly doubt Amon is someone we know already, though I could be wrong. I think Mako's girl could yet turn out to be an equalist though. And I predict the polar bear dog rescuing Korra in the next episode :P

I think the next episode may be a flashback episode, theres alot of hinting towards it in the title "Out of The Past" and weve been teased long enough .

Some people have been suggesting Zuko might be part of the rescue, id love to see this but i doubt it. Probably gonna stick with Tenzin and Lin for a rescue team with the help of Naga of course

Is Zukko still alive? I think it was mentioned that Katara (not Sokka, obviously) is the only surviving member of Team Avatar, of which Zukko was part of.

Something tells me that it might be more Korra getting in touch with her spiritual side somehow and Avatar Aang speaking to her

Yet another awesome episode with so much in it, i honestly cant see how Mike and Bryan can keep this much awesome going for every episode.
Older Gaang was awesome, loved Sokkas speech was hoping for a cactus juice reference but alas....
Korra finally getting in touch with Aang and her spiritual side was great to see and im glad we werent made wait till the end of this series.
Seeing Aang energybend again was interesting as i wasnt sure what his position on it would be in later years.

And finally the big one, Amon is pretty much immune to bloodbending
    What does this mean?
I think it adds a bit of credence to my theory that he was given the power to energy bend by a spirit and that might explain his resistance to bloodbending, maybe he had to give up part of his humanity?

All in all another epic episode and i cant wait till next week

Oh and apparently the next 3 episodes are going to be combined into a one hour season finale, unfortunately we will have to wait 2 weeks but...... EPIC!!!!!

I would gladly wait one week if it means getting 3 episodes back-to-back. Excellent.

Is it OK not to use spoilers now?

I'm not sure if Amon is immune to bloodbending - it seemed to affect him but he somehow managed to power through it. The scene where Tarlock's father was blood bending Aang and his body was disjointing was.. really eerie.

The greatest thing about the flashback sequence is they kept all the character's quirks - it was brilliant to hear Toph calling Aang Twinkletoes and Sokka was spot on too. Did they use the same voice actors for those two?

Loved the use of Sokka and Toph alright. As said, they kept the character traits without making them caricatures of themselves: Sokka's story about Sparky-Sparky Boom Man was funny but also had a serious point. It wasn't just there to go "oh you. Wacky Sokka". He still had the humour but also still had the required leadership skills to be head of the council (Which was cool). So many times when a show brings back a character for a cameo they try to get in as many character traits as possible to appease the fans.

Speaking of Sparky-Sparky Boom Man. Maybe he, or a follower is Amon: He's got that mark on his forehead and he seems to be able to perform some sort of fire/energy bending in order to apparently remove bending powers (at least that's my interpretation: There's still only the 4, Metal Bending is bending the imperfections in metal, Energy Bending is an extension of Fire Bending and maybe the energy required for bending itself is controllable through fire/energy bending and obviously Blood Bending is Water Bending). Anyway, he's got the forehead mark like SSBM/Combustion Man, he's some kind of specialist Fire Bender and he seems to be mostly machine (Little blood/water to bend. He was affected but pushed himself through it). Just messing, I don't really think that (Although I do think there'll be some connection with Aang). Just thought I'd throw it out there for a laugh :D

Energy bending isnt an extension of Firebending, Firebendings speciality is lightning.
Energybending is a whole other discipline that needs to be imparted by another energybender using the technique, at least thats what weve been told so far.
I dont think Amon has any bending abilities apart from that, my theory is he was taught the ability by a spirit and either through this teaching or spending so much time in the spirit world he gained a resistance to bloodbending for some reason

I've heard this being mentioned before. Where does this come from? Was it said somewhere: a spinoff or somewhere? I know Aang took Ozai's abilities at the end of his series and received the knowledge from that giant turtle but I assumed this was another Avatar ability. I mean that's not just talking about developing a bending talent like Toph or focusing on a talent like Azula and Iroh, that's talking about a whole new element. Earth, Fire, Water, Air and now Energy?

Edit: Ah, yeah, I saw it in a wiki about energybending. Anyway, Amon: Spakry-Sparky Boom man, you wait and see :)

    2 things

    1. it cut away when Amon removed tarlock's bending

    2. Why did he take Tarlock captive?

I could accept it for dramatic reasons, it's just rewatching the scene something seems a bit off about Amon's actions involving Tarlock (could there be a twist here?)

regardless awesome episode and i look forward to the finale

One varient on the spirit teaching amon to energybend (if thats the reason) perhaps Ang passed it on after the encounter with tarlock's father?

Every person we've seen on screen having their bending removed have been criminals/jerk cheaters I think, only the officers stand out as innocents who have had their bending removed and that happened off screen. Perhaps it is like how the turtle described it to Ang that only one with pure of mind and pure of heart can remove it and if Amon tried it on an innocent or someone like Korra it wouldnt work.

That's interesting as it leads to the question as to who Amon actually is. I mean, it does now seem to be Energybending more than Chi blocking, but who did he learn it from? I don't think Aang would be able to pass it on to someone else. It would more suggest that Amon somehow is an energybender by itself.

Hopefully we can see Korra enter the Avatar state at some point during the finale. It seems like she's finally mastering the spiritual side, which makes it possible, as Aang only knew Airbending when he first entered it, so you only need the spirituality to enter it. Would be excellent if we got something similar to the way Aang entered it during the Season One finale.
