Have they still only the one toilet for the whole restaurant? I think I heard there was some work going on there.

Didn't visit so don't know!

And just to jump on to the Miyazaki train here, I love their food. Think the best thing I've had so far is Oyako Don, but the Gyo Don is also awesome and their daily specials are great. And the food looks like straight up instagram food porn, no filters required. :D

They have "unisex" toilets upstairs (same as their Limerick sister restaurant)...I'm surprised that they don't appear to have a downstairs wheelchair accessible toilet, I thought that was mandatory ?

If it had planing in the building from before for it to be a Restaurant witch it does and has it from years ago. There is no need for a wheelchair accessible toilet.

ITs a strange law all round but if the building already had planing before the law of having a wheelchair accessible toilet came in you don't need one at all.

Two outstanding meals I had last week in Thali and Serendepity.

Thali was so good, the flavours are delicious. Had the early bird 3 course for €16.95. Really recommend it.

Had probably one of the nicest burgers and chips in Serendepity for lunch. €10 can't go wrong.

Had spinach ravoili in mushroom sauce last night in La Dolce Vita - which was really, really good, that said I didn't think the service was particularly friendly - don't get me wrong, I don't need the validation of being smiled at but just got an odd vibe off the lady who was looking after us. We went to Market lane after for a coffee and their Blondie & Chocolate ice cream with caramel popcorn which I highly recommend.

Ate brunch twice recently in Salt and loved it, must make it there for an evening meal next

Went to Brick Lane for brunch on Saturday....won't be going again. The service was shocking - we were waiting about 15 minutes for a menu, one of my friends got up and asked the barman would it be possible to get some menus (there were no waiting staff nearby), and he said "I'm busy" and that the brunch menu was now over and it's now the evening menu (at 2pm on a Saturday?). We waited another few minutes and finally a waitress came over with brunch menus

The barman was very busy alright - chatting with his friend who was propped at the bar watching a match on the big screen.

The food was ok - I ordered scrambled eggs, bacon and avocado with sourdough which is pretty hard to get wrong to be honest - it was nice. Two of my friends had a dish with chorizo and potato and a fried egg on top - they said it was only ok, nothing amazing. My other friend had eggs benedict - I don't think she was too impressed with it either.

The bad service put a big dampner on the whole experience. I wouldn't go back.

Umi Falafel opening in Zamora on Academy Street. Posters up in the windows. "Opening soon".

Can't say I know anything about the place but they have a Dublin place too so maybe people have eaten there and can report!!

    http://umifalafel.ie/

Also, looks like there was work going on at the Pavilion too. Surveyor taking pictures outside there today so might just be listing it for sale/rent, but it looked like there was work going on inside too.

Even if it just putting it back on the market, I'd be glad to see something in there. Big, versatile premises so would be nice to have something good in there!

Ended up in Coqbull, not by choice. I didn't expect much but it was worse than I thought it would be!

Thrown upstairs in what feels like an attic. Very shabbily done up and the music was random and too loud.

Burger was v poor and chips were cold. You'd get a better burger in any half arsed bar around town.

Corn was swimming in butter. Kids food was quite good but that's not hard to get right!

Brownie was good. Warm apple pie was cold!

Overall poor. Staff are friendly although a bit all over the place.

Still baffled how it's so busy. The Cornstore affect. However they manage it!

It's all opinions. There was a very complementary review just a few back.

Had brunch in Maynes recently and it was delicious. I had poached eggs on a bed of fried garlic potatoes with toast. My daughter had the toasted special which came with hand cut chips and she loved it. With regard to Cafe Velo, the last few times I've had lunch then I've been waiting ages, almost to a point where I'm late back to work. Food there is grand but the lunchtime service needs a bit of a shake up.

It's a beautiful place! I haven't had a cocktail there yet, so can't comment on that aspect, but I had some food and wine over the weekend. I thought the plates we shared were not that great, to be honest. Bread seemed a little stale, like it had been left out. Also things that clearly needed to be cut were served in dishes that were not conducive to using cutlery! The wine was decidedly average for the price.

However, I'd definitely go back and try something else. I like to give allowances for new places and the staff were friendly, if a leeeetle on the inattentive side.

I've been there a few times since it opened and I really like it. The décor is gorgeous - they have done it beautifully in fairness. Cocktails were delicious and not overly sweet which is often a problem. As for the food, I had a cheese board and some other nibbles which were all lovely, but I totally agree with Malari's comment re the plates and cutlery! All in all I'd definitely recommend it.

Disappointed with Boojum's offering so far so hopefully Bunsen can bring the goods! Looking forward to heading in.

I got Boojum the other day and thought it was pretty good.
Far better than the ****e I've gotten in Burritos & Blues anyway!

Bunsen is decent in Dublin anyway. I'd say Coqbull might lose more business than Son of a Bun since its opening on the same street!!

I will definitely give Bunsen a go, but the menu looks extremely limited. I really like Coqbull, and they offer a lot more plus the staff are brilliant imho. If I was with a group of people, Id rather bring them somewhere the menu was a little more expansive. But ill reserve judgement until i try :D

Looking forward to Bunsen opening, have heard that the burgers are amazing. I think it's a pretty basic menu but I wouldn't mind if the burgers taste amazing. I like Coqbull too though so hope they don't lose out on a lot of business because of this place opening.

Yeah.. two or three posts in this thread already about it. I like it anyway. :)

Seems to be mainly my age crowd (30's up). Anyway, i'll be there again this weekend for a work thing. Looking forward to it.

Their Facebook page just says "new menu every 8 weeks" which is great, but I'd like to know what's on it now...
Craft cocktails, but you can ask for whatever you want I'd say. Anyway, everyone and their mother wants to go to the new place in town so ended up back again already.

    I had two...
Nutjob. It's a pistachio based cocktail, came in a tumbler, along with a bowl of pistachios to snack on with it. Yum. €11 i think.

Second one I can't remember the name of, but it was a cocktail for 4, like a punch. Tasted like blackberries, it is quite sweet. That one was shared between the four of us and was 40.

Again, didn't eat, but saw people getting plates of cheese and meats. Looked good.

Bunsen's concept is extremely simple, with literally only a few choices. Plus their restaurants are also simple, but great choices for a quick, tasty meal. They do make really good burgers, but don't expect a lot of choice or fanciness.

Its an entirely different eating experience though, Bunsen is more of an upmarket fast food offering, its for something quick to eat not a 90 min 3 course meal.

Walked down French Church Street today and saw Strasbourg Goose is closed, is that where Bunsen will be?
Surprised SG is gone in any case, was only there once myself and thought it was good

I am absolutely happy with a simple menu done well. Big menu /= fancy place. Coqbull is not my style at all. Can't talk to the people you're with... too noisy, full of twits with phones out.

C'mere, rachal allans new place on Washington street. Has anyone a date for that? Heard the builder got the chop.

No, Bunsen is across the way. In the building directly next to Coqbull, on the right if you're facing the door.

Was it Gwen's or the crepe place? I can't place it.

Didn't realise SG was gone gone, though - shame!
