I always figured it was because they were too greedy to pay the postage for larger items.

What if I'm inside an app? There's no search button in the context menu of the browser (for one example).

Just seems like a silly omission. Particularly for developers, who can no longer rely on a standard set of buttons and have to clutter their context menus with sometimes-duplicate functionality.

Umm, that is incorrect! If you press and hold the 'Menu' button then the search pops up no matter where you are. Also, if you press and hold the centre button then the task manager opens up - all very handy.

I like being able to wake the phone up using the centre button instead of the litttle button on the side - much easier than my Nexus S!

Its rumoured that Sammy might go the HTCMotorola way with a locked bootloader for Galaxy S2 , hoping this isn't true..

Strange as Sony is doing the opposite and making available a bootloader unlocking portal online for sim-free handets (with warranty disclaimers, admittedly!)

God I hope they are wrong... nonetheless the guys @ xda-dev will break it...

I would imagine it wont fit at all. You can buy higher powered batteries online something like this:

Is this phone alot better than the HD Desire? Besides having a dual core processor that the HD Desire doesnt is there anything else that this phone beats the HD Desire hands down? Is it worth the upgrade down the line?

Not a review, just one of many pointless extreme unboxing videos that Samsung marketing have done for the SGS 2. Really curious to see how the battery life is.

I was being sarcastic when I said my previous link was to an interesting review. It was clearly a ridiculous review, but I found it funny when it backfired on the reviewer at the end. Anyway, here is a link to a worthwhile review: http://www.techradar.com/reviews/phones/mobile-phones/samsung-galaxy-s2-930907/review

NFC is basically a smart card tracking device built into your phone that wiill log all your purchase / movements on a datadase for two years under EU / Irish data retention directives.

NFC will raise serious privacy concerns when they start to roll out here. Give it about two to three years and you will start paying for your groceries, petrol and rail tickets with it.

NFC can also be used for person to person transactions just like cash which is even more worring. Of course we will be told that this technology will illiminate the black economy and kill off cash crime but there is a price. IE Big Brother.

Yeah, so NFC, Near Field Communication, is the technology in the new Barclaycard Credit Cards and London Underground Oyster cards. They can be used for quick transactions and communications between phones. See here.

And also an effective tool for the authorities for an up and coming pan European police state. .

This article is almost 6 years old and things have come along way since.

Cool story bro. But no way am I paying 2 quid for bus in London when it's only 1 if I use the evil NFC :pac:

The Tube dose better than that, ie 1.50 for an Oyster zone one journey as opposed to 4 quid using cash. This is why TFL has now in excess of an 80% smart card useage.

With out carrot and donkey incentives no one would buy into the cashless system, An example of this was the "Ennis Information Age Town" 1997 Visacash was introduced along with Telecom Eireann, It fell flat oin its face. Give everyone in Ennis a subsidised NFC phone and you could guarantee it would succeed. http://steveon2.tripod.com/visacash2.htm

BTW you dont need a Samsung GalexyS2 to have an introduction to NFC, you can insert an imbedded micro SD card to convert almost any smart phones to this technology with the correct firmware installed.

Was going to get this but I think the price will be too high. Going to get the Sony Xperia Arc tomorrow, which I think is a better phone for it's price. I'll be due an upgrade in November which is around my birthday anyway so if it comes down in price I might get it then
