Checking the Berlin weather hourly.... Definitely going to bring sunscreen.

Getting very excited and very nervous now, I go from thinking I will run an amazing race to thinking I'll have to pull out after a mile... You would think I would have learnt to control the pre-race week hysteria by now; this will be my sixth marathon but it feels like my first one all over again..

Why do we do this to ourselves?

I'm exactly the same - partly because after months of problem-free training, I finally got a calf strain last week. physio, ice and a lot of counselling ever since. I suspect it's part of the "taper madness" that someone was talking about earlier. good luck everyone!

This waiting around for the marathon would kill you.... id love if it was tomorrow morning. Finding the tapering pretty boring to be honest. Like the guys above im starting to get slightly nervous now with all the associated what ifs running through my head.

Ill be running in bright orange and will prob start out aiming for 3hrs and se how it goes from there. Hopefully see some of you guys at the start or finish (ill be in bright orange). Good luck everyone.

Best of luck too. Found myself looking at the Florence marathon (as backup yesterday) but stopped myself. Tbh i dont want another 2 months of LSR's amd PMP's, better to leave it all on the road on Sunday.

Worst thing for me is to have a back up marathon. I like to treat every race as if it is my last. You never know what is down the road, injury, family commitments etc.

For me having a backup has always led to suboptimal performance. Back up plan allow the little voices in your head to tell you to stop and try again in a month or two.

Jesus Brian do I have to follow you around this message board saying STFU, HTFU and just fcuking do it :)

So is the suggested location for Sun now the Oscar Wilde, that's handy for me as well as only a 20min walk from where I'm staying.

Yeah i reckon so. It seems to be handier for most and is also being recommended as a better Pub on The Logs.

    Here is the website: http://www.oscar-wilde-irish-pub.de/
Myself and Brian will be there from the afternoon anyway.

Sounds good to me. I'm not too sure of our plan yet (there are 13 from the club running :)) so I'm just going with the flow. I'm sure we'll make it down some time though. Are you heading straight from finish line to pub?

Do we have a list of race numbers here, as I think there was some tracking tool available last year. Might as well do something while i'm on the sofa watching this one.

Not too late to head over and watch it live! Sure when will you get to see the current male&female record holders in the same race again!

+1. My bold prediction is that Sunday will be the last we see of Paula and Haile.

Paula maybe but King Haile, never, he'll run a 2'05 sth which I'm sure will be good enough to get him on the team for London.

This is me looking like i'm about to cry at the end of my latest half, same singlet for sunday, add in black calf guards and white asics runners and bobs your uncle. See you on the start line. I take it you'll be in a Limerick Tri suit, have a good idea what you look like too.

The last stretch along Unter Der linden is very deceiving - you can see the Brandenburg Tor in the far off distance and it never seems to get any closer. But this is the stretch where the support is massive - milk it. And when you do reach the Brandenburg Tor ther is still agood 400m to go.
I measured 26.64 Garmin miles last year while running the blue line so make your calculations based on this. Measurements is in km only - might be worth switching to km on Garmin if you've done it before.

    Good luck.

Best of luck everyone and enjoy, it's my favourite marathon. Just thought I'd quote eliwallach above as he's spot on, it's very deceiving
