tops of trucks are great spots, as is on top of the pipe on Hardhat, although theres a lot of places you die instantly if you try to get on there. the knife vs fmg9s are the best craic on infested, just milling through waves of them. I prefer to hide at the beginning and wait until there's loads of them then see how long I can last.

Watching a clip on a friend's fileshare and it was an infected game with the FM9s
Three of them got MOABs. Absolute carnage

Its unreal how well you camaflouge against the vegetation (as sparse as it its) and other bits and bobs. My favourite is on bootleg near the courtard witht the single kind od kiosk thing there's 4 white big bags leaning against it and ya can lie prone in em and wont be seen....untill that pesky radar fart comes along and everyone makes a mad dash for the spot :D

If you've killed enough people to get assassin that radar won't show you up.

Got gold in all lmgs and here's my conclusion on them. They're mank. In saying that iMuse and Furious have gotten moabs with them. I've only run support and have sod all gametime using lmgs with specialist and assault so make of that what you will.

It's through the various perks, proficiencies, tactical/lethal grenades and attachments they can become rather good. But first the guns and my take on them.

    Guns
    • L86: weakest, biggest damage drop off in class, fast reload, thermal sight and kick give very little recoil.
    • MG36: fast reload, iron sights not too bad with clear peripherals, not much else to recommend.
    • PKP: good range, clear iron sights, obscuring peripherals, iMuse's moab machine.
    • MK46: fast rate of fire, slightly obscuring iron sights and peripherals, low recoil.
    • M60:most powerful but has very short range, slow rate of fire, horrible iron sights, clear peripherals.

My top 3 are the PKP, Mk46 and M60. The l86 and mg36 are a step down.

    Perks
For your 3rd tier perk, Stalker is simply a must have. Aim and draw time with LMGs are just too slow, you're too cumbersome to soundwhore with sit rep pro and unless you're using a suppressor dead silence is a waste as you won't distinguish an enemies approach when you're firing. Marksman isn't that useful as at long range as you'll have to burst fire and some ARs have far better ranges. I tried steady aim in a rushing lmg class and it's just not viable, machine pistols, smgs and shotguns are just too strong up close.

For the other perks, I tend to go with set combinations such as blind eye and assassin, recon and hardline, extreme condtioning and overkill. Scrambler/trophy system or motion sensor for the anti air, grenades for recon and hardline, and motion sensor/claymore for the extreme conditioning. Blind eye pro & assassin pro and a silenced lmg with stingers is my go to anti air class, you can take down enemy air support without being shot at from the air or the ground. Blind eye pro and lmgs really can make a mess of things, but it's primarily a defensive setup. My normal class with lmgs has hardline pro and recon pro with grenades looking for hitmarkers and hopefully kills or assists, so I can build up my support point streaks with ease.

Another setup I like using is extreme conditioning with speed proficiency and overkill for a riot shield to protect the back or kill teammates. Use your speed to get to a position to attack then displace leaving a claymore behind. A motion sensor helps here too as it gives you and your team a heads up. Without SoH or a fast reloading lmg, you're very vulnerable so it's important to carefully pick opportunities to reload. I normally reload at 50% used or when there's a lull and never fire a clip till empty as the reload is longer and you're defenceless. Quickdraw is largely rendered useless by stalker and a decent map knowledge. Unless you're using a silencer or assassin you rarely live long enough to warrant using scavenger with an lmg.

    Proficencies & attachments
For proficiencies, attachments, kick and speed are the best. Focus, stability and impact are only useful in rare occasions but the others are useful far more often. The red dot trumps the holographic sight as it doesn't block your peripherals as much nor does it glare as much. Acog and thermal work best on low recoil lmgs or when prone & crouched. I couldn't get the most out of rapid fire as the loss of accuracy costs were too high for the increased RoF. Extended mags only add 50% not 100% like in Mw2. Only some Lmgs can have heartbeat sensors and I don't think it shows up when aiming down sights which is a pity. If you can get used to the iron sights on the lmgs grip and silencer is a surprisingly effective sneaky combination best used on the pkp (good range) or mk46 (fast firing). Kick and grip lower some of the recoil but going crouching before firing or going prone gives you a similar increase to accuracy. Speed gives you a 10% boost so you move as though you were using an Assault rifle, coupled with stalker you become very agile.

    Tactics
Using stalker you can get tunnel vision so don't get too focused on your frontal arc as flanking or camping enemies can pick you off easier. Learn where the enemy will approach you from or tends to gather and have your sights focused on the danger area, ready to fire. Another thing to remember when using stalker is not to aim for enemies upper half as, the guns natural recoil (and getting shot) will kick your aim up possibly over your targets head, and some guns (pkp in particular) block a large portion of the lower screen. The natural pull of the gun means it's easier to move the aim up when firing (and taking fire) than down, remember this when using the powerful magnifying sights.

Normally you're slower than your AR and SMG wielding team-mates, so don't try and play in a similar manner as those classes, you need a completely different mindset. When playing objective games, find a high traffic area (B dom generally) that is difficult to attack with grenades and try dominate the approaches to that area. You're not camping, hiding from the enemy, you're advertising your presence, you want them to come to you, on your terms. I sometimes burst-fire off rounds to keep the enemies heads down whilst respawning team-mates push up and support me or to stop enemies attacking B dom from a certain route whilst we're capping. If they run in to your bullets, you'll get a kill, if not they'll back off and you can cap in peace.

I dabbled with the lmgs on my first prestige, just not for me. But well done, good breakdown. You should do a.youtube vid with this info :)

well done on that one yimrag.Prob best thing I've read on lmgs, imo. As Dave said you should do vids with tips or a blog or something.Very informative.
Been trying(and horribly failing) with an lmg class this prestige .Hard guns to master when you're used to running and gunning(or in my case running into bullets).

No.. you can play single or 2 player!

Some of the spec Ops thou you do need 2 players.. maybe only 3 of the original set required 2 players!

Tweet from the man himself -
@fourzerotwo: On flight to Ireland to spend the week of St. Patty's Day. There is no way this can live up to the absurdly stereotypical image in my head.

Someone punch him in the face for me please.

I'd punch him just for saying St. Patty.
