Tesco have a half price sale on.

Edit: sorry, half price games, don't want anyone quoted my unedited post and wondering why their trolley of shopping isn't discounted.

    :pac:

Half price sale also on DVDs & Blu Rays too. Slim pickings in my local unfortunately.

Possibly posted already but, these look very nice. Thoughts? Essentially a great option for those who want an arcade option with limited space. Seems a good price? I have never seen any like it around like that for sale, great idea.

Happ stick, happ buttons, nasty nasty stuff.
Thats silly money for something like that, totally not worth it in my opinion. I know it saves space, but you could actually buy a real arcade machine if you had the space for that kind of money.

Or just go buy all the Pi components and a USB arcade stick (or two) for cheaper.

    I'd buy them both.
There's enough good arcade stuff on the PS3 and 360, from Raiden 3 to Dodonpachi to make them well worth having.

Was there anything else worthwhile in the clearance?

Feck the games, I want that golden joystick!

Nah complete and utter junk, Wii and 360 mostly. Those sticks were the only interesting things I saw.

Buy two games, costing twice what they should, and get a cheaper game free.
    Not the best deal ever.
They seem to have plenty of WiiU games, like Project Zero, there.... I'm just being patient, and then I'll swoop in...

Probably 30 minutes after they are all bought for €1.97 each :(

I never saw a sfc game sealed from the factory, approach with caution.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

I think that's about the 3rd different way he's tried to sell those games, I'm not saying there's anything at all wrong with them, but he had them up in other bundles before, seems he just put them in a box this time.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,856 ✭✭✭Steve X2

My understanding is that they were not shrink wrapped when new, but a lot of Japanese stores would get them in when new would shrink wrap the games before putting up for sale.

Buy yeah, I'd be very wary of a seal sfc games.

I hate re-sellers on Adverts. This guy is notorious for it.

    Bought them here yesterday.

    Up for sale today

Edit: Has since been withdrawn, will be back up again soon no doubt.

Pat and Ian's Podcast has a segment from time to time called 'Scumbag seller of the week' that would describe my feelings on that carry on well.

A bartop with a lot done for sale, €90!
    link
Not sure about the buttons but, a spare Raspberry Pi, some controls, slap a monitor in there and a bezel up front.

There's a PS2 with a memory card in the window of the Charity shop across the road from Aungier Danger for €15. Not sure what else comes with it, just caught it out of the corner of my eye when I was breaking in to a light jog to the luas.

    Says it's working though.

A previously mad priced Veccy finally down to realistic territory
    Link
€250 and it includes a working boxed Vectrex and 13 original games.
The lettering seems a little skewed in the photos provided, so there may be a cap kit needed, and it might get another €50 off.
Either way, it is a seldom seen console in these parts.
First thing to do on buying, sell the games, make your money back, then buy one of these
    images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTBabEdKqY0IQkSoz4qxNqAjWAY3rz55D-6k7Oo3DMGQxDhTGpN
and effectively have a free Vectrex!

The writing on my one did that before it crapped out and a cap kit didn't solve it unfortunately. :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,096 ✭✭✭✭the groutch

pity it doesn't seem to include any overlays.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 34,541 CMod ✭✭✭✭CiDeRmAn

pity it doesn't seem to include any overlays.

There's a few people online doing reproductions, and relatively cheaply too.
Find the Vectrex group on FB for that type of thing.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,856 ✭✭✭Steve X2

I got a few repro overlays a while back. Pretty rubbish quality.
I actually prefer the veccy without any overlays anyway. I like the clean look of the vector display.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,963 ✭✭✭Doge

Yeah that guys overlays were pretty poor but the ones Vectrex Mad does are very high quality, even said to be better at allowing the vectors to shine through than the originals.

I have his repro overlay of Pole Position and it's very nice indeeed.

They need to be completely re-calibrated after the cap kit to really fix them. You need a special test cart to do this properly, I recently got one so I reckon I should have your old one fixed within the next 4-5 years :)

That one is great value, although probably best to collect it in person..

I kinda like both equally as they offer really different ways of viewing the games.

Clean white lines versus a kind of neon effect.

Jaysus, remember the Vectrex buying splurge we had here a few years ago? Could have had a convention :D
