Everything except your HDD scored above 7 so you should be happy with that.
Its stupid how the overall score is based on the lowest score you get.

I'm guessing its a laptop too which makes it even better. Rare for laptops to score that well.

I know right, I got a WD Velociraptor in my comp the fastest sata HDD out there and it still won't go over 5.9.
The only way past it is a SSD which I'm currently saving up to buy ATM same one as Glyn actually who ironically sold me the Velociraptor to begin with lol.

@ TPM: Not a bad score for a mobile graphics card and for a laptop as a whole - basic Sata hard drives (using sata 3 or below) are always rated 5.9

Solid state drives will be higher and also raid configurations. solid states are still damn expensive for every gigabit of storage you get though so ive not got one as of yet. SSD's really come into their own when it comes to installing games or applications which really need fast read write between HD - in this case SSD and memory on the GPU or RAM as well as data transfer. Also if used as the boot drive with your OS on it it really makes a difference in terms of boot time and installation if you use your SSD as your install location.

You have a very high res monitor dude - is it a digital display port 4k screen? How do your games run FPS on such a high res?

he's running 3 1680x1050 monitors in eyefinity which counts as a single display on the index

    its eyefinity.

I love how my 6990 scores lower than a 560Ti in WIE.
Ive got quite a few upgrades falling into place though. a 128gb Samsung 830 series SSD will solve my "primary hard disk" woes.

by the looks of tho wei never seemed to like dual gpu cards when you think about what privious ones got on there scores aswell

the 560 ti is a modded version made by asus (dual fans with proper heat sink piping) - tis a far sight better than the reference card nvidia put out on the market and is majorly overclockable but i have it at stock at the moment :D WEI is never really that accurate in any case - it needs to be overhauled. Cant wait to see what the gtx 680 is gonna be like though.

AMD's latest releases have really pushed the boat out in terms of new technology and performance - shall be interesting to see how nvidia respond with the 600 series of geforce cards

It has dual hard drives which probably isnt helping? RAID is as shipped, I havent looked at the setup of it

Dual HDD shouldnt affect ratings at all - if they are in a raid configuration you should get better performance but WEI some times doesnt show it plus it could depend on your raid config.

@warlikedave: as far as I know, Win7 caps the score for any mechanical drive (RAID or not) at 5.9.

@neilos: Go on, just an extra 0.2. :P

I settled for 4.5Ghz until I saw 7.7! Why did I even bother running it. Well I guess I'm going to spend another 3 days finding a stable clock and testing it. It's not like I even need anything faster than 4.5!

your right but 4.8ghz has a nice ring about it:cool:

Left mine at 4.5 on an arctic 7. Seems plenty fast :p
My chip took an annoying amount of voltage to be stable though.

Yeah my CPU seems to be the same. What voltage are you at for a stable 4.5?

Anyone with an overclocked GTX580? What sort of clock are you running at and whats the max you'd be willing to up the core voltage to?

975 and 1.15V. That's about what it's max clock is. I usually keep it at around 950 and 1.138.

Haven't been able to run a WEI since I installed a new Hard Drive, any ideas why that might be?
It works fine up until the last part but then the hard drive goes crazy making loads of weird noises and then an error pops up telling me it can't read the speed or something along those lines.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,710 ✭✭✭Monotype

Maybe your hard drive is faulty. Did you do a full format?

You should do a full disk check as well (right-click on drive, properties, tools).

I'm not at home atm, but I think it was 1.352v.

My 2500k @ 4.5 gets 7.7, so if you OC more you should get 7.8 or 7.9.

    here is my main PC:

    KrAZP.jpg

Why does my ram get 7.8 :(
Maybe I shuld OC it? I want that 7.9 dammit! :-D

my 560ti does well for itself.

    Second PC 5 years old:

Laptop - 5 years old now:

    vR4zq.jpg

Bumped up my second pc a little. e6500 and 2gb ram -> q8300 and 4gb.
went from 5.6 -> 6.9 and 4.5 -> 5.5. Now time to OC. I actually made money by upgrading and my pc is way faster. :)

My 6950 scores higher than your 6990? Did you install a new version of AMD drivers? It lowers the score for some reason. You have to rerun the test to get the proper score.
