    I've a single 480, not 580. ;)

I haven't overclocked the CPU, which could give me a higher rating, but I guess my SSD would still be the slowest component. It's a OCZ SSD Vertex 2 240GB.

My rating go same as yours, but CPU is 7.5. It's an 2500k, but I still haven't over locked it yet. After overclock I presume I would get near 7.8 too?

I'm only getting 7.6 off a 4.3 GHz overclock. His chip has far better throughput than the i5, it's just that very, very few games can actually make use out of it or need it.

The i5 2500k gets the lowest score which I'm still pretty happy with, big advancement from playing on a PC where everything was rated in the 2s and 3s :P

My 2500k @ 4.5 gets 7.7, so if you OC more you should get 7.8 or 7.9.

    here is my main PC:

Why does my ram get 7.8 :(
Maybe I shuld OC it? I want that 7.9 dammit! :-D

my 560ti does well for itself.

How much RAM you got? I'm pretty happy with 7.6 with 8GB of RAM.

    So close!

As far as I know you need 5.6Ghz or greater to get 7.9 on your CPU though.

    ASUS P67 Sabertooth B3
    i7 2600K @ 4.6GHz
    Patriot Memory Viper Xtreme Series 1866MHz 8GB(2 x 4)
EVGA GTX 560Ti Crysis 2 Edition

I'm very suspicious of this, as my SSD (OCZ Vertex 3) was getting 7.6 the last time I tested (when I first installed windows, I spose), and my 2500K was getting 7.7 (OC'd to 4.3)

The M4, is it? Yeah, you should be getting a bit better than that (although windows can change it's mind from system to system).
    Things to check:

    1) AHCI is enabled for your SATA drives in the BIOS setup - as opposed to IDE or Legacy. This is straightforward if you don't have windows installed. If you do, you'll have to install the AHCI drivers and do a registry tweak as windows won't boot if you just change it from the BIOS.

    2) Make sure that you have the most suitable chipset drivers installed. Windows sometimes don't supply the best/newest or the ones on the discs with your motherboard can be out of date. Have a look to see if the board manufacturer or Intel have anything better in that line.

    3) Finally, check that you have the newest firmware. I assume that you have the newer firmware that boosted performance by about 20%. It's been out quite a few months now and the old stock should be cleared out.

2.8GB memory on a 6800 GPU? What wizardry is going on here?

I think that must be a bug with windows experince index. I am using a 1GB video card and it reports that I have "4862 MB Total available graphics memory" :o:eek:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

Nope, that's it using some of your RAM/pagefile as video memory - which has seemed really stupid to me, especially now-a-days. It's the same thing as having a 4GB page file when people are running 8GB or more of RAM as standard, all it does is create bottlenecks. Windows reports my 1.5GB card as having 4,063MB.

    7.6 out of 7.9 - I'm happy with my new system. :)

    Component|Details|Subscore
    Processor|Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.3GHz|7.6
    Memory (RAM)|8.00 GB|7.9
    Graphics|AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series|7.9
Gaming graphics|6864 MB Total available graphics memory|7.9
    Primary hard disk|63GB Free (119GB Total)|7.9

Wonder if I'd pushed for the i7 or just go and overclock the CPU would that let me score the full 7.9...:pac:

As others have been seeing the graphics memory is well out of kilter with the memory the graphics card actually has,, it's only a 3GB card, not >6GB like this claims.

    :mad::eek:

Im not posting up my updated rig, cause my 6990 only gets a 7.7 :o

it apparently has 7892 MB of ram though, quite a lot more than the "effective" 2048mb.

whaaaa, my 560 ti gets max. Thought your card was much better? Even my 4870 does nearly as good as yours. :p

WIE is a piece of dung, an annoying piece of dung, and means nothing in real world scenarios;)

    but im just bitter:p

my results can also vary wildly everytime i retake the test, especially with the SSD.

    Asrock Z68 Extreme4

    Don't bother!!
Have a look back at my previous post and you'll see a 2600k at 4.6 holding it back!
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=77057843&postcount=220

As far as I know you need around 5.6Ghz or a hexa-core processor to get the 7.9.
WEI is a pretty ridiculous benchmark anyway!

7.1 - not too shabby for an off the shelf laptop I think.
