    Here's my latest score.

    attachment.php?attachmentid=142987&stc=1&d=1294836872

Nice and balanced. Other's weakness is my strength! :D
I got 5.4 earlier with the gaming graphics. I wonder what changed or was it a fluke. Probably a misscan.

Agreed. The windows index yoke is pretty useless. It really is useless. I see people here with slower systems, but getting a much higher score them people with better setups. Passmar, sysmark or another real world benchmark would be much better. I actually think the index makes up random scores. Sometimes i hit 7.4. Then im thrown down to 5.8, other times 2.4 all because my SF ssd.

I agree that it's terrible but I believe that it does have potential uses (if improved and taken on board) - e.g., the person who doesn't have a clue if a game will run on their computer could match up a score on a box with their score. Of course if they don't have drivers installed that won't be help much. Maybe a more static numbers based upon listed strength of elements and less scans would be of use, although this would not account for under/overclocks.

I just found out an interesting snippet of information, seems the drive scores are used to a certain degree at least by superfetch to turn off readyboot if enabled

    http://www.google.ie/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=17&ved=0CD4QFjAGOAo&url=http%3A%2F%2Fdownload.microsoft.com%2Fdownload%2F3%2F0%2F2%2F3027D574-C433-412A-A8B6-5E0A75D5B237%2Fperfaccel.docx&ei=x5AwTevtFsiKhQfFlZSWCw&usg=AFQjCNHGe2wOyDJY_gGuFB4fT4fpMzNqHg

ReadyBoot is supported on Windows 7 client systems. ReadyBoot is enabled by default and it is part of the sysmain service. If you disable the sysmain service, you disable ReadyBoot. If SuperFetch detects that the system drive is a fast solid-state drive (SSD) (as measured by Windows Experience Index Disk score), then SuperFetch turns off ReadyBoot

....and then you should turn off superfetch, prefetch and bootfetch.

Got a 60GB OCZ Vertex 2 SSD today (my second one after the first died on me after a few hours). So here's my updated score, the disk jumped from 5.9 to 7.7.

Alt + printscreen to take a screenshot of a window rather than the entire screen btw... Only figured that out very recently:o

The Windows 7 snipping tool is handiest for quick screenshots, IMO. A simple program but very innovative.

Hey ppl, I was wondering if you could help me a little here. I recently bought a ATI Radion HD 5440 1GB Graphic card and installed it today. Replacing a 256MB version. Went to run that WEI and found that all the scores dropped except the Gaming Graphics and the Primary Hard Disk.

    Processor 4.8 down to 4.7
    Ram 4.8 down to 4.7
    Graphics 4.7 down to 3.8
Gaming Graphics 4.7 up to 5.8
Primary Hard Disc 5.8 (no change)

Now what I would like to know if anyone can answer, is that why did it drop?
And if there is anything I can do to bring it up.

Ive an Intel Dual Core Processor with 3GB Ram and sadly no screenshot at the moment, but will post it 2moro.

    Thanks in advance

    Danny

What video card did you have before the upgrade? The 5440 would be a low end card.

Oh crap, I knew i forgot to take that down...I totally forgot. I know it was a Nividia 256MB one....beats me then after that. I still have the card tho.

Must be some sort of glitch with the test. Try running it again with all non important background tasks closed? :o

now give a score with your hdd included....:D oopps...5.9 maybe 6.2?

This is the WEI score I was referring too yesterday.

Someone asked what card I replaced yesterday. I can tell you it was GeForce 7650 GS which was supplied with the machine when bought.

Am now going to run another scan for the WEI and will post the result.

3.8 is too low. Did you uninstall the old nvidia drivers and install ATI drivers? Also make sure that directx is up to date. http://www.gamesforwindows.com/en-CA/directx/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,162 ✭✭✭von Smallhausen

That was my initial thoughts on it. Yea I installed the ATI drivers and removed the Nvidia ones. Ill reinstall them as now the Catalyst Control Crashes on start up:confused:

    Thanks for the link.

Right now there is something really weird going on...it dropped again and all I done was reinstalled the drivers and DirectX.

    Graphics dropped to 3.6
and Gaming Graphics dropped to 5.7

what the hell is going on?? this is really confusing.

Try uninstall the drivers and run a driver cleaner in safe mode. Then install drivers again

Uninstall first, enter safe mode then the driver cleaner? Where can I get this cleaner?

I use this one. ATI drivers can vary from month to month in quality, for me anyway. December drivers went from 60fps in GTA4 to under 20fps so make sure you aren't using them either. November or January drivers seem ok
