What exactly is the GPU? There are modified drivers for older models out there to 'hack' Aero onto certain models

    Syetem Specs:

i7 2600k (note that it runs at 1.6ghz idle and turbo is set to 3.8 default - OC achieved via altering the turbo - not the base frequency)
8gb 1600mhz ddr3 cosair vengence ram running at full capicity
Nvidia GTX 560 ti GDDR5 1gb dediciated memory (Asus model slightly overclocked - could be overclocked quite a bit more)
    asus P8P67 EVO board

First test done at 3.4ghz (turbo limited to 3.4ghz) - total clock set to 3.4ghz

    [Embedded Image Removed]

    Second test done at 4.3ghz

    [Embedded Image Removed]

Noticed that the CPU calc speed didnt increase which is wierd

lots of people being held back by HDD scores, i almost wonder if MS are secretly investing heavily in SSD's and using the low WEI scores to boost sales. :D

they're not too bad now tbh, they make a huge difference in every day performance and you can get a 60gb one for under 100 quid now, which is all you really need if you have another drive for data storage.

Problem is though - if you install a load of games 60gb wont last long (my games drive has nearly 300gb worth of games) - so the logical conclusion would be to have the games on another partition. the operating speed of the OS may be better but if you cant fit your games onto the SSD then you wont get too much of a performance boost since you would have to run your games from another partition and you are limited by that drives speed. They need to be alot bigger in my book to be honest. Id need to put my OS and then all my games on another SSD. They are just too small at the moment unfortunatly. Its a shame really. Have a quality machine otherwise.

In my laptop I have a 60GB OCZ Vertex 2 for the OS and a 500GB WD 5400rpm disk for data. I don't game very often and what I do play can fit on the SSD (or doesn't require it) so I'm happy in my nappy. :D

sorry just saw your post now. I think its an ATI mobility 7200 or something similar. and I think I got the 128mb out of my hole, more like 32mb :D

its an IBM thinkpad t42 but a quick Google shows a higher spec model. can't check at the moment but will update later if its a different gpu.

if you could find me drivers that work I'd be grateful.

How big is this laptop? I've only seen huge ones with two hard drive bays.

That's not bad. I was picturing one of those 21'' monsters. An SSD and HDD would be very handy for a laptop.

Havent even considered Overclocking yet, I wonder what scores I could squeeze out of the RAM and CPU. (Video Card, Motherboard)

You'd reckon with a 2nd GPU in the machine the score would have gone up, but no, it hasn't. Not one iota.

Mine's the biggest I think. No need for humility in a bragging thread :) It's not overclocked either:

The OCZ Vertex 3 scores 7.9, the Vertex 2 with the latest firmware scores 7.8.

    C300 gets a 7.9 too.

All thanks to PC Building & Upgrading :)

I'm guessing SSD is the only way to bump up the HD rating?
