    Just hotspot no?

Can do, but the challenge was to use bluetooth:)

My main problem with the Nexus 7 is that it is wifi only. It seems strange to me to make a device that is basically tethered to my house when I already have a PC there. I could use the wifi hotspot on my phone but the battery life on that is bad enough as it is. Add in the low / non-expandable storage and you have a double blow of inutility. If it had 3G I would be fine with only 8 or 16 GB because I could stream content instead.
So how's nexus 7 itself? Good device? How much it set you back?

I was toying around with some tablet idea device.

Agreed, its not very expandable but as ED E and you said, using the phones 3G as a hotspot/tether point works well when out and about.

Thing is I just asked in PC world on the off chance about 3 weeks ago, & they had one 16GB left for €259-someone reserved it but never collected it.

For the money its great value. Thought it might be a bit flimsy but its a well built piece of kit, good screen and the OS is slick, & way nicer to hold than an ipad. It will spend most of its life on the couch/in the kitchen browsing the web/checking mail etc. I discovered yesterday it has GPS built in, so I must stick navfree on it and see how it performs. For a person that was never that bothered by tablets I'm well impressed.

259 in pc world? That's not too bad. Would online be cheaper?

Do you reckon Win8 would be better on the HTPC or the Desktop? Looks like it might have some nice features for a low res screen like a TV.

Hmm... interesting. I'm not a huge fan of steam but it can have its uses.

All-city records probably. They mainly serve to graffiti, so they know their stuff.

They're on Crow St. in Temple Bar, just off Dame St.

    Molotow Transparent (Glossy) - €5.50
Should do if you're looking to just give whatever it is a high sheen, dunno how protective it is

Anybody know the cost of shipping + tax for a keyboard from the US?
That Storm Trigger keyboard that I wanted a few months back is selling on the US Amazon with brown key switches for 100euro, although I expect that will go up a good bit with shipping and tax.

Its actually for protection vs sheen, and cleanability(thats actually a word according to chrome:confused: ).

I'll have a chat with them in store anyways and see what they recommend.

Its only available in black key switches in ISO layout so I'd rather pay the premium for brown.

Better off just getting a Filco then.

They make great keyboards but, none with back lighting. The Storm Trigger comes with red switches too http://www.scan.co.uk/products/coolermaster-cm-storm-trigger-mechanical-gaming-keyboard-with-backlit-red-cherry-switch-keys
It's a good Mechanical keyboard for the money. I just think it's a bit ugly looking though. If your getting one sent from the US then look at the Ducky Shines http://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=87

Edit: The cost to get them sent out is around US $50.

I'll never understand the fascination with backlit keyboards that you all seem to have. If you're typing enough to warrant the upgrade to mechanical switches then you shouldn't need to look at the keyboard at all...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,170 ✭✭✭✭ED E

It looks cool. I assume thats why most buy backlit boards. My 510 is backlit but I have to set it to dark green(not so visable) or it gets hot to the touch in places. It is handy for finding your positions quickly in the dark at times, but most of the time is just aesthetics.

If your gaming your left hand is in a different position and your right hand isn't on the keyboard at all.
I think it's perfectly reasonable to want to look down to see where ';' is. Flying is playing ArmA 2 right now and there are plenty of important buttons spread around the keyboard.
