Mine arrived last week but I decided to stay up in Tullamre for the weekend, and it shipped to Limerick. Can't wait to bring it up here next weekend :)

    How is it?

I'm actually starting to second-guess my MX Blue K70 idea... I wonder if I can find an MX Green CM Storm...

CM cant even get enough switches to hand out review samples they're that in demand so good luck getting one

hopefully cherry will ramp up production though

Yeah, they're extremely hard to find, that's the only thing. Corsair's K70s aren't supposed to be around until July (read: late August) so I'll be waiting either way. I'd just really like to try Greens, more than anything, dunno if they're too heavy for regular use or not.

Mhm. I know the specs alright, and I can guesstimate, etc. but I still like to actually type with a keyboard before I purchase one. I thought I'd like Browns much more than I do (not that they're bad) for instance.

Well, I did my bit-was in town with herself earlier, so I feel I can justify a bit of time on line, keeping an eye on steam as well..;)

Pain to go anywhere else today for me anyway, roads jammed with bloody day trippers and MAMMAL's.

    What's a MAMMAL?

Very good on first impressions, super compact and a sturdy build. It would definitely make a serviceable weapon in the event of a zombie apocalypse. :)

Haven't actually plugged it in as I am home in Ennis for the weekend. A bit on the high side so might need a gel wristpad, but I'll see how it goes. Other than that very pleased with it.

Fears were definitely unfounded noise wise, I've had plenty louder dome ones in the past.

Was looking into getting this case

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Coolermaster-ATCS-840-Tower-Chassis/dp/B001L92GVK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1373203162&sr=8-1&keywords=coolermaster+atcs

Mainly because of space and size, just wondering if anyone has any other suggestions in the price range or cheaper? :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

I used to have that case. Expensive, but extremely well built. My €175 600T isn't nearly as sturdy as that one was. The removable motherboard tray is also a god-send.

The cable management isn't amazing when compared to newer cases though.

Other cases to look at are Nanoxia's Deep Silence One, and Fractal Design's Define XL.

Seems very expensive. From the pics I've seen it seems to be an older chassis as well. It doesn't even have a black painted interior.

Have a look a the full towers here.

If you like white I really like this one. It was the case I was going to go for but was just outside my budget. I ended up with the thermaltake chaser mk1. It's a great case but the styling wouldn't be for everyone.

There's a lot of good midi towers as well in the €90-€150 regions which have more than enough space for most builds.

Fractal XL was something I was looking at, I just like the massive size of this one. The removable MB tray is also highly appealing!

I'll have a look see, if I'm dishing out the dollah, I just want a good sturdy one! Colour isn't going to be a deciding factor, I'd take anything if it was built well and would last me years. That's ultimately the goal, have a case that'll last far longer than the components!

My build atm isn't massive or that big(not yet anyway). Just future proofing the one aspect of a computer you actually can ;)

Think I'm going to grab a Nanoxia Deep Silence One case and a Z87x-D3h board for my 4770k build (it seems to be the one lots of people are going for).

The Nanoxia has a 2 channel fan controller for its 3 fans, with space for 3 more. I'm assuming this accepts only 3 pin fan connectors, or how does it work? I haven't used one before, so I don't know. I am looking for really good airflow, so am looking to purchase up to 3 additional quality fans, 140mm probably for better airflow and quieter. The Scythes come recommended by Serephecus.

I have space for a top exhaust, bottom intake (is that floor?) and side intake. What fans should I get? The gigabyte board has 2 additional 4 pin connectors, so maybe 2 PWMs? Or just medium speed 3 pin ones? http://www.hardwareversand.de/140mm/74903/Scythe+Glide+Stream+140+mm+Case+fan%2C+800rpm.article

Am I on the right track? Am ordering today. (Finally :P). 4770k is arriving Wednesday, hopefully this stuff from HWVS will arrive by Friday.

Bottom intake is floor, yeah. If you're doing a 240 in the top, and a 240 in the front, I'd then have another 120 fan in the back, and one in the bottom, both intaking to maintain positive pressure.

And yeah, most fan controllers are 3-pin, powered by a single molex.

By positive pressure you mean intaking more than you're taking out? (Because cool air going is trumps hot air going out in general?).

Unfortunately I'm not water cooling anymore :( Can't justify the cost-benefit ratio. So that's why I am adding three fans to the already 3 fans in the case.

    Ah, right. That's unfortunate.

As for cooling, generally cold air in does trump hot air out, but positive pressure (you had it right, by the way) is beneficial because it inherently inhibits dust build-up as well.

I know :( I was looking forward to it, but it is costly. I understand it can be an investment, but the capital cost is a bit much :)

For now I'm going high end air and I'll see where I can go from there.

I'm thinking PWMs for the 4 pin connectors I have, and I'll just stick with 800/1150 RPM 140s then (I'd say 800 will be safer to go for, sound wise).

Gumbi, my deep silence one should be arriving soon(was scheduled for last thursday), I'll take a look at the fan controller when it gets in and let you know how it's set up.

Cool, my own, if it ships by today should be here by Friday, so I can mess with it then. I must say I'm looking forward to a nice, quiet case :)

Has anyone broken their Nexus 7 and have a wall charger for it I could buy. My girlfriend lost hers! These tablets are very awkward about needing a 10W charger :(

I just use the charger from my phone, never had any issues.
