I got the fittings today, no tubing of course, that would of been to easy

    Fittings are pretty darn nice

What fittings did you order again?

Running a GTX570 (loud!) and a 2500k. IF I were to WC, would it be better to upgrade first?

EDIT: "Better" was a stupid word to use, especially in this forum. Is it worth spending €70 on a block for the 570?

Depends on how much noise bothers you and what you want to overclock more tbh.
Most people go with cpu first then gpu.

Cpu blocks can be re-used with new sockets most of the time.
Gpu full cover blocks can only be used with the card its designed for so make sure you plan to keep the gpu for a while.

If you were to watercool, I'd go CPU only, but buy everything with the intention of adding in your GPU (probably a new one) ASAP afterwards.

If your going to be upgrading your gpu anytime soon I wouldnt bother with a full block but you could always try a universal block but dont try overclocking with it. Would be handy for future build then if your waiting for a full block for your newer card.
Saying that I just did the opposite of what i'm saying and ordered two hd7970 blocks which will most likely be replaced soon :)

Why not overclock with a GPU block? They usually keep the GPU cooler than full-cover blocks. Assuming you've got any sort of airflow over the VRM, everything else is usually fine to be cooled passively.

Edit: With the exception of 400 and 500 series cards, as the voltage circuitry for those is ridiculous, so point taken I suppose. :P

You would really want a fan pretty much over them and mini heatsinks on each to help with a gtx 570 to keep it anyway stable with the block not on the vrm's

Ok, bit of a miscommunication there I think. When I said passively, I didn't mean use nothing. I was talking about something like this:

I've looked into them before, the only problem is when you buy both together its a very similar price to a full block so it really defeats the purpose of it. Then the only benifit is you can usually use it on other cards but then the heatsink would be wasted when you put the cooler back on too sell it..

While I'm here has anyone noticed how slow specialtech is to post stuff? Every order I make with them gets posted about 2-3 days after I make it even if I order it at 9am.
Its really annoying as then it takes over a week to get here :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

For me, It's always taken 1-2 days to ship. Slower than most, but not horrendous. Still, would be nice if they could get some HWVS-efficiency in there. Same day dispatch win. :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,132 ✭✭✭game4it70

I agree, the time from payment to shipping is pretty slow imo.

While on the WC subject have you guys used watercoolinguk.co.uk before and are they ok?
I'm looking for a adapter thats out of stock on specialtech.

Nope but if your going to try them out let us know how you get on as patience is not something I do well so hopefully can be quicker to deliver from them :P

I ordered a couple of small bits from them last year. It was when I had a tonne of stuff arriving from a few different places, so I couldn't tell you how fast they were or anything unfortunately.

Nice,so you want me to be the guinea pig :P
I might have to use them if it doesn't come back into stock on specialtech when i get round to ordering the other bits and bobs.

Getting some Coollaboratory Liquid Pro/Ultra now is my main concern as i can wait for a little while for the adapter.
The only places that have that in stock seem to be Ocuk,Wcuk and hitide.ie with hitide.ie being the best price with the del included.

I vaguely remember reading bad things about hitide.ie i think

On the topic of shipping speeds, Overclockers are insanely quick. 2 days from purchase to delivery.

The delivery price is fine but the minimum rate for something the weighs nothing and can be put in an envelope sucks.
It used to be even worse.I got a single cable of them a few years back and the wanted about £13.50 for delivery.I sent it to a mete in the uk and he posted it on for a total delivery of about £2.50.

Game4it, CLU, you say? Delidding, is it? Definitely post results. With any luck I'll be delidding a new 3570K in a week or so (have to bin my current and new one first).

You probably have that CPU deal done and dusted, but I'll be selling a 3570k/z77x-d3h combo in the next week or so if anyone's interested.

    Correct :D
I will post results if i have a working pc :p

I have manged to get 4.6ghz stable @ 1.35v with average of about 68c and a peak of 88c on the cores.Definite need of delid now me thinks.

It really show how bad the thermal transfer is with haswell as my water temp only rises about 3c from idle to that load after 3 hours of Aida.

Question - What is a DisplayPort and why do I need one?

I do I'm afraid, so it won't be me taking it. Good luck though.

Happy days. That's roughly what my current one will do as well, hoping the new one will be a bit better.

It's HDMI without the licensing to Sony (though physically different, it's the same signal) and you don't really need one unless you're interested in 4K.
