It's HDMI without the licensing to Sony (though physically different, it's the same signal) and you don't really need one unless you're interested in 4K.

I read somewhere though that HDMI can only output something like 24Hz. Surely that isn't very good for games. Kinda of defeats the purpose of a 60Hz+ monitor. Or am I misunderstanding.

Maybe one of the older versions or something, but as far as I remember, anything remotely recent will do up to 1920x1200/60Hz with no problems, and I think 1.3 or later will do 2560x1600 as well.

Then what is the point in getting a monitor higher than 60Hz?

I have a 120Hz monitor and i need to use the display port on my gpu to get the refresh rate.

That's what I was thinking. I'll probably invest in a DP Cable even though I don't plan on overclocking my monitor right away.

Is it safe to push the voltages in my 3570k to 1.3v and beyond? I was at 4.4ghz with 1.28v but kept crashing after a few hours of gaming. At 4.3 now and everything is stable.

Once your temps are ok yes its fine to up your volts.

Yikes thats a few bobs worth.

The delivery price is fine but the minimum rate for something the weighs nothing and can be put in an envelope sucks.
It used to be even worse.I got a single cable of them a few years back and the wanted about £13.50 for delivery.I sent it to a mete in the uk and he posted it on for a total delivery of about £2.50.
Yea its turning out really expensive and I will need another 800 to finish just the watercooling both my main rigs but at least its something I can keep for alot of upgrades bar gpu and mobo blocks

    HDMI 1.4b supports 1080p@120Hz

    HDMI 1.4b supports 1080p@120Hz

I've a Samsung S27A750D and the manual recommends using the DP to get "Real 120Hz mode"

Tbh i know very little about it so i just used DP as i had the cables for it.
    :o

Displayport has a few advantages over DVI - smaller cable connector, higher bandwidth, audio as well as video, could be used for other things such as storage or a network (not really implemented as yet), you can use it for multiple monitors and it needs less circuitry (so less bulk in the monitors/tvs).

However, they are more expensive than a DVI cable and it won't make any difference to the average monitor, if you are using a dual link cable.

It's looking like a replacement for DVI though.

You are fine up to about 1.35 I'd say. You could go higher with good cooling. Make sure your voltage under load is the same in windows as it is in the BIOS setting though. There is a setting that will affect this. I can't remember what it's called. You could be undervolting from your bios setting.

    LLC or load line calibration.

When shopping for a monitor what should you consider? I like this one.

Seems a bit expensive. The thin bevel is nice but this is better value I would say.

Yeah those Korean monitors come as 60Hz standard but can be overclocked to 120hz+. I've read some reachin 140, some barely touching 90.

Mine gets 120Hz though I noticed some very slight artifacts in Windows, so I scaled it back. A high quality cable can help too.

To be honest, I noticed no difference at all really. I'll leave it like that for a while and see if I notice it when I lower the frequency. A bit like SSDs seemed kinda good, but not amazing. Then you go and use another HDD PC and it just seems like an age to open programs.

I'm not sure if the displayport ones overclock. There were a few early ones that didn't overclock with displayport while their DVI-only counterparts did. Not much info on these newer ones.

Sugar, I hope that isn't true. Would be very disappointing.

It took the 39hours for them to actually give it to the delivery company after that it takes 3 days. I will be due on tuesday for me according to fedex :). I dont mind the delivery time just the time it takes to give it to fex ex is a pain.
