Mothman I actually rated it in the beginning but no stars registered!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,498 ✭✭✭Mothman

It needs to be rated by a certain number before stars show, but I don't know how many, but it must be close

Fair play to you OP. It must have been a labour of love for you and it's lovely to see Bob doing so well. You have truly restored my faith in human nature and kindness :)

BTW, I have tried to rate this thread but when I do I get the message that I've already rated it. Very confused

Ok, the same happened to me and i just assumed I must have already done it but forgot! I can't believe that it wouldn't have been rated by now.

    I'll raise it at helpdesk

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,055 ✭✭✭j@utis

well, Bob doesn't change that much anymore, only new thing that he is more into seeds now than into soft feed.

Tail and wings are still growing. He's great flyer (around the room lol).

How's Bob getting on with the Canary?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,055 ✭✭✭j@utis

Bob is bullying the canary; now he wants to get to this feeder, then he wants to sit on that branch etc. etc. He doesn't attack just threatens whit his beak open and only sometimes he gives 'her' some odd gentle peck :)

Perhaps Bob is a 'he' then?
Is it not only the cocks that sing?
Could be wrong, but I think in canaries etc, that it's only the male that sings.

one of the best threads ive ever read on boards, after all the cruelty and stuff that goes on with animals, this is a heart warming story. I found a baby blue tit last year (Well the cat did), I tried to nurse it but it died.

I have multiple bird feeders around the garden which i have now succesfully crow/magpie proofed (By putting hanging baskets around them in a ball shape), The noisest, most beautiful birds that visit are the finch family. Sometimes ive up to a dozen beautiful goldfinches going mad chirpping and feeding on my feeders!

Keep the videos/pics coming, he/she will be a beautiful looking bird when its in full colours.

You will need to watch that. Without having put them in cages side by side to get used to the other, there is a chance that bob will reject the canary totally.

If Bob does accept her, and Bob is a he, and the canary is defo a she, then there is a chance they may mate when sexually mature and the male offspring of such a union has a wonderful singing voice.

Bob now has learned how to get out of the cage and how to get back in after doing few laps around the room (we leave cage doors open for few hours a day, I hope he'll never learn how to open them himself).

And here's the latest video, taken today -->
    Bob: "Don't mess with me!"

edit: still no reds marks on his face...

    Ah deadly!

I'm not sure if he's attacking you, or expecting to be fed lol!

    He is tame I presume?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,055 ✭✭✭j@utis

Sometimes he's 'attacking' like that when he's being picked up; or we're just messing with him and sometimes he even jumps into the air to get your finger, it's funny and bob seems to enjoy it.
