    WEISSENOHE KLOSTER-SUD another German beer.

Love it in fact all beers I had from this brewery have been very good in my opinion.

Just finshed a bottle of Duvel.

I had it before a few months ago but i enjoyed it so much i just had to check in here to say again...bloody hell the stuff is just beautiful. Lovely bubbly yet smooth texture, excellent citrus smell & a taste that just gets better towards the end of the glass.

9.5 out of 10. Im taking a half a point of because there is a very slightly tangy aftertaste due to the high alcohol content(8.5%!!!).

Duvel Lite would be a 10!

In Greece at the moment and there isn't much choice of local beer to be honest.

Mythos : standard holiday beer. Always served at almost frozen temp and a frozen glass.
Had worse beers to be honest. It's a simple beer very light and non offensive.

Kaiser Pilsner much nicer than above but not very pilsner tasting.

Just seen another beer called McFarland Irish red ! Haven't tried it yet but will give it a go later.

Had a couple of pints of Howling Gale Ale in Against The Grain last night. A pale ale very similar to Galway Hooker but a lot lighter and easier to drink. I always find GH strips my tastebuds if I have more than 2.

Looking forward to trying their other two beers.

I finally had myself a bottle of O'Haras red ale. Ive heard an awful lot about this stuff & i think i may have hyped it a bit in my head because i thought it was just average.

Im not sure if im a red ale fan to be honest. Its definitely one of the better reds, definitely better than the dreary killkenny & on a par with Old speckled hen.

Think im more into dark ales & wheat beers.

Really into ales recently, both English and Irish. Currently enjoying a Bishop's Finger.

McFarland's is McMurphys red afaik, brewed in The Netherlands and tastes like a bland red ale except it's 5% and has a nasty kind of alcohol kick to it. Avoid it.

Thanks for the heads up. Going to try it anyway just to mark another beer off my imaginary beer list.

Picked up three beers today in the wine centre today, (getting harder to find ones I haven't tried in there each time). Wychwood Goliath (same chaps as Hobgoblin), Maredsous 8, and Fyne Ales Piper's Gold.
Currently working my way through the Goliath. And it's not great, pretty boring to be honest. Nothing that stands out, it's not bad by any means, just nothing special.

Fix Hellas beer very good compared to the other Greek beers I tried.

Only can get in bottles but pours a very pale colour.

Very malty and a nice bitter hop taste at the end.

Probaly the best of the bunch so far.

Over the weekend, got to enjoy a pint each of Galway Hooker and Hobgoblin (cask) in JJ. Harlows in Roscommon Town, and enjoyed my first ever taste of Old Engine Oil in a Thai restaurant in Athlone. Ok, so not a great match for a Thai meal, I didn't care. It was all about the beer. :)

Kin Khao? Great restaurant! Fair play to them for having a decent beer selection.

    That is heartening!
Yes Old Engine Oil would, I'm sure, be a terrible match with Thai food but at least they are trying something outside the box.
Now all they need is some good impartial advise on putting a beer list together.

Had a couple of Erdinger Dunkel's last night. Fantastic beer, lovely and tasty.

Also had Erdinger Kristall (I think) on Sunday, also quite tasty but I wouldnt be going back for more of this as quick as I would the Dunkel.

McFarland Red well it says it's brewed under licence from the Murphys brewery Ireland.
Brewed in Italy according to the bottle also.

Anyway it red/Amber coloured. Malty and a slight alcohol taste you would get with stronger beer.

I was expecting it to be rank so was quite surprised that it was ok to drink.

Will go back to the Kaiser beer.

Used to be a registered trademark here too. But I think as long as they keep it going anywhere in Europe it's still valid.

I was picking up a couple of bottles of Wychwood Brewery's Hobgoblin, a favourite of mine and saw a different one of their beers I've never seen on Irish shelves, a ruby bitter called Goliath. It made for a nice summer option compared to Hobgoblin which can be very filling after a few

Alfa Hellenic another Greek beer similar to Mythos except less hop taste.

Most of these beers are fine in the hot weather but at home I reckon I would never touch the stuff.

Last night I had a Chimay Triple, Chimay Red and a couple of Erdinger Dunkels. Only new one for me there was the triple, lovely taste, not quite as sweet as the red label but definitely another I would go for again.

Had a bottle of Meantime Chocolate last night. It was nice enough at first, but the chocolate taste became quite boring and almost cheap tasting quickly enough. Pretty bottle though.

Had my first metalman in the porterhouse on Wednesday. Pretty nice. Better than I thought it would be. It retained the flavour to the bitter end which for a low abv ale is good going and its hoppy aftertaste was the icing on the cake.

Me too! Had a pint of it in Porterhouse last night, very nice. Just what you need after work.

Thoroughly enjoying a Fuller's 2010 Vintage Ale. Bradley's in Cork has a little stash of them in the far corner down the back. It kind of reminds me of a Belgian beer without the sort of sickly heaviness that stops me from wanting to drink it all night. Good stuff.

Belhaven Robert Burns Scottish Ale. It was given to me some weeks ago. Not bad.
