Statement on Icelandic volcanic eruption: Wed April 14, 23:15dnesday 14 Apr 2010

"The Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre has issued a forecast that the ash cloud from the volcanic eruption in Iceland will track over Europe tonight. NATS is working with Eurocontrol and our colleagues in Europe's other air navigation service providers to take the appropriate action to ensure safety in accordance with international aviation policy."

Important information A planned closure of local airspace is expected to have a consideration impact upon passengers flying in and out of Aberdeen Airport on Thursday 15 April. The closure has been enforced by the air traffic control services, NATS, as a result of volcanic ash which is drifting toward the country from Iceland.
Those scheduled to fly are being asked to contact their airlines directly or check the live flight information below.

anyone going on flights north of birmingham could be affected thats what you get for slaging off the volvic water advert :)

Even with the few thousand feet high ash cloud I would love to be where that picture was taking. Looks purdy

I remember an Icelandic volcano dumped a coating of red ash over here about 10 years ago - it made cars dirty but didn't close any airports as far as I can remember.

It's pitch dark in that webcam - it must be really bad.

Last time I went to Iceland, all I got was some frozen veg, chips and a couple of chickens... I didn't see any volcanic ash on offer.

You can see the lack of flights over UK and Ireland from the link below. It shows live flight tracking. You can click on any particular flight to see where its coming from and going to. Was only sent the link for the site yesterday. The ones in red are about to crash as far as I know.
