A pity they didn't extend this further south toward Rosslare. Would make great press for the Government being Brexit 'ready'.

What is the next M project in the state now?

The next extension south is in planning.

The next M project will either be the M6 Galway bypass, M21 Adare bypass or the M28 Ringaskiddy motorway

We should enjoy this M still being in construction for the time being so. :P

No doubt this has been answered but once the NR bypass section is open how many KMs will be left to upgrade between the N30 at Corcoran’s Cross and the N11 Enniscorthy bypass and when will it be done?

    That’s the N30 Moneytucker-New Ross scheme, 13.5km.

It won’t be built for at least 17/18 years going by current plans

It missed out on the 2018-2027 plan, and it also missed out on the 20 or so schemes that missed out on the above plan

In a sporting context, it didn’t make the extended panel, let alone the panel itself

That's ridiculous, 14 KMs to create a defacto east coast motorway from Waterford to south and east Dublin/Dun laoghaire/Bray yet nothing for donkey's years.

And a bloody dangerous section of road as well.
Crazy to think it could be another 10 years before they do something.
They could at least widen it to include a hard shoulder.

In fairness, it would only serve the denizens of New Ross or perhaps Waterford people heading no further than the Dundrum shopping centre.

Unless things have changed greatly people in Waterford would still love to avoid the M50 from the west approaches.

AADT for Enniscorthy is around 16.5K, which one could argue was not a priority for Motorway over Adare, ClareGalway, Galway itself, M20, Dunkettle, Macroom, we could go on.

The extension is long fingered for very good reason. Wexford is getting 2 new Motorways in or around the county in a year when nobody else is.

The N30 scheme will be single carriageway if built

    ??
Maps on Android are still showing via Ballycanew with an alternative through Enniscorthy.
What do you mean by N25?

The PR spin is totally OTT for this scheme- goes to show little big road building is going on that the Taaoiseach and entourage had to show up- previous more important and busier motorway sections opened with barely a whimper before with council dignatories and maybe the Transport minster. Seems now they just milk every thing for all it’s worth for PR

Dozens of more pressing schemes. A road that was upgraded circa 1990 of a decent standard with lowish traffic numbers shouldn’t be top of the already lean list

Hopefully after coming all the way down here they commited to accelerating the Oilgate to Rosslare section as part of their Brexit strategy :-)

They’ll pay lip service today but not a priority scheme. Brexit or not. Works the other way too - ie if the hysteria pans out there’ll be a decrease in the UK traffic out of Rosslare. When there’s goat tracks like the N24 and numerous busier national primary and secondary routes in a far worse state

    Oilgate-Wexford South absolutely.

    Wexford-Rosslare absolutely not

Regardless, Oilgate-Rosslare planning is being advanced at the minute. Long way from diggers though

Would they rename the n25 from Wexford to rosslare the n11 when it's done so u have a m11 /n11 from Dublin to rosslare?

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,706 ✭✭✭✭josip

Just managed to get in shot

I think that would actually make more sense; the N25 was truncated at the Cork end, anyway, with the inauguration of the N40 in 2012...
