No Davey G. but yeah on an even more off topic note, Paul McCartney was over-fuckin-priced

Yeah, crazy .. we were bidding on two tickets and thought we'd get them no problem with a snipe bid but they went for far too much. Seats at the back they were also rolleyes.gif

So, David Gray played here last week? I didn't even see that advertised or most likely would have went.

    Was it good?

@jammyc - How was Regina Spector as DG's support? Would have gone just to see her.

I'm basing this on 'iconic' rather than my own personal tastes, but I'd say the best song of the decade is Maps by Yeah Yeah Yeahs!

Lets not forget, the title of this is "song of the decade", not "your favourite song of the decade".
so, bearing that in mind i would say:
Kings of Leon - Use Somebody
    Lady GaGa - Just Dance
    Coldplay - Viva la Vida

i can't stand lady gaga or Kings of Leon, but they did burst onto the scene and their music imacted the radio stations and record companies around the world, so that is why i would pick those as the competitors for "song of the decade". Title is a bit Vague though.

I caught the end of some list show last night called song's of the noughties (God I hate that word) and was shocked to see that according to the list Snow Patrol had the best song of the past decade with the blander than bland Chasing Cars.

One of my personal favorite bands of all time and one whom have done more original work over the past decade than 99% of chart topping bands from the same period combined.

Where was 7 Nation Army ?

Can't complain with an Irish song being song of the decade, but the top ten was missing some quality tunes

A crap song is a crap song no matter what accent it comes in.

I rather a great English/American/Asian/etc song being song of the decade then an Irish one which bores you to tears. Just because something is Irish does not mean that we should excuse it's shortcomings.

I'm sure someone will come in and say I'm just another Irish begrudger which seems to be the reply whenever anyone dares criticise anything Irish.

Yeah was pretty good. Not gonna say incredible because it wasnt, but still put on a really good show. He sang The Who-Wont get fooled again at the end. Couldnt help but picture him as Horatio from CSI mymammy.

Regina was really good. She had 2 asian guys with her on strings and a pretty cool drummer. Played an awful lot of her new stuff though, which I didnt really know so in that respect it was a little dissapointing.

Sick of hearing about this song.

It's a good song but 'song of the decade'??

It came out 2003 - 2004 and is still played today.

Does anyone know if this song came to prominence in Ireland because of the 'Lifestyle Sports' ad - even before it appeared on the UK chart?
