    Just bought 50,000 there...

Macrubicon Air has just taken ownership of it's first A340-200 - looking to start expanding into the larger aircraft and distances over the next few days.

cheers Crosáidí. think the best way is having good old cash reserves (plenty of :) ) and keep building the fleet to bigger capacity / longer distance aircraft.

Just bought a B707 thats flying to Johansburg and by this afternoon I should have enough to buy 2 more Iilyushin - IL62MKs which are also going out Africa way as its their max ranges and should bring me in about €800,000 each per flight on average

thinking of using my PAX points to buy AM trusted airline status. does anyone know what benefit this has towards your arline or flights?

Thanks Irem - just bought back.

At the moment Macrubicon Airlines has

    1 B737-800
    1 A319-200
    7 MD80
    2 ATR 72-500
    1 ATR 42-500
    1 A340-200
    1 B737-700ER
    1 A319-100CJ
    2 An-3
    1 ATR 42-300
    1 ATR 42-600

Over the weekend we will be hedging fuel and probably buying a few more MD80's or 737's to build up the 4 hour returns.

Doesn't really seem to do anything. It is an indication that you are serious about the game and allows you to promote your airline within the game. If you are getting share holders from this thread I say don't bother. Save them for a biz jet or salary resets after you get the salary achievements.
They need to change the way that points are awarded. I've been playing a month and have 900 pax points. Yesterday I launched 121 flights, happy staff, 100% rep, all with the most expensive catering. Got nothing!!!!!!!

I got two lots of 5 PAX points yesterday. Wasn't paying attention to when I started the flights though so unsure exactly what planes it was on when I got given them, it does seem that more meals get sold if I start my flights individually rather than in a whole bunch for some reason.

    just got my B787-8
was funny spending $19.5 mill for the first time considering my last splurge was yesterday on a B757 for $7.5 the fact it brings in $1.7m per flight makes it easier.

So in the interim will go back to B757 and MD80's to keep things going as it will take about 2 days per 787 for the next while

On a good note for ye investors, we've gone from 0.86 to 1.28 in 24 hours which you can all be happy with!!! 28 routes

Decided to sell off my DC-9's as the advertising finishes on them.

Would you buy more MD-80s to add to my fleet of 7. $2.1M with a range of 6000km and 130 pax. Fuel burn is 14lbs per km.

    OR

Boeing 737-700 at $4.1m, 6230km range with 149pax and a fuel burn of 9lbs per km.

Then dispose of the MD-80s and add 737's?

    Yeah,
It will go slightly over the max.
If you try you can also find that you can actually purchase slightly over the maximum allowed as well.

here's a list I've put together that might help you decide

it depends what your cash flow is like the MD 80 has a great overall cost but the profit on the 737-700 will be better good half wasy house is the 737-700C as it's a million cheaper.

you can almost get two MD80 for the cost of one 737-700. Running costs are slightly higher, but if you run the MD80 at max distance and with 130 Pax each flight should yield about 330k. About 7-8 flights (with 3 flights per day possible) yields a new ac of the same type (compared to about 15 flights required with the 737-700).

If you didn't max out the 400 flights limit yet, the MD80 will definately make you more cash over the next two weeks (and then it's time to upgrade to something bigger anyway...)

I started about 3 weeks ago (shortly after the OP) with 4 ATRs, then switched to 8 Be146, then build up to 360 MD-80 (the first 20 were the hardest).
Now I am slowly changing my MD-80 (just before they reach their first C-check) to B878-8 and also got my first A380 today (second one following later today)

I would go for the B737-700s as soon as you can afford them. The fuel burn and more seats should counteract the increases initial cost. Don't go selling off your MDs yet though. I have yet to sell an aircraft. Am happy with my mix of Airbus/Boeing/Embraer. On many routes I have 2 different a/c operating together.

In terms of expansion perhaps better to use the MDs to fund new B737s/routes than just replace exisintg a/c. Slowly duplicate all your MD routes with a B737-700. Then you can think about selling the MDs and having 2 B737 on each route.

And you could find that the B737 doesn't make sense to replace an MD on a route that is mid-range for B737 but max range for the MD-80. Maybe add a B737 to each max range MD-80 route, then replace the MD with a B757-300. It has a lot more seats and the range is similar to the -700. (6421 vs 6230)

You can invest if you would like (although at over $30 per share it's a bit more expensive and won't increase as fast as the 30 cent shares of the 'starters' although the next A380 is close and will bump it up a bit ;))

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 24,086 Mod ✭✭✭✭robinph

I've been running out of fuel all afternoon now, didn't quite allow for how thirsty those new MD80's I've bought in the last couple of days are. Will have to stockpile much more supplies now once the price comes back down to the $400 levels rather than buying any more birds for a while.

Shows the different approaches to the game. 360 MD-80s is very impressive. Am sure you now have a great daily revenue to allow you to switch to B787s and buy A380s.

I went with the more expensive Airbus and now have 140 a/c. Just got my first A380. Will hold off for another until I have 200 a/c....mostly A320 family/A340/B787s. Am aiming for 100 A320 family, 100 A342, 100 B787, then a bunch of A380s. Will try to have one of each Airbus just for the look on the staus/profile page.

Think if I started again I would go with the multiple ATR/MD approach of a few players here.

fuel at $400 now lads / lassies. held of buying aircraft until tomorrow has have now built up a decent 25,000,000lbs fuel reserve formy 19 aircraft so i can go on a nice upgrading program now without worrying about fuel for a while.

You can now fly out of Belfast. Has anybody started any routes out from it.

Note, it's in the list of airports as Port Of Belfast, bit odd!

    Fuel @ 400

I bought myself an A340-200 this morning when I let all my flights go and was going to buy another aircraft with the change. Thankfully I didn't and stock up on the fuel to last another few days.

    Frayah Express Update

We have been quiet for the last 24 hours on fleet purchases. We have started to add to the long Haul Fleet this morning, we have purchased our first A330-220 & B777-200ER.

We have approx 45mil lbs of fuel hedged for the next 24 hours.

We are still in the process of moving aircraft from one base to another so we are paying out 5k per change.

Process is to add more B777 and add additional SH intra Europe aircraft.

Share price is still rising though, currently at 14.64

Just bought 20mill fuel, have over 100mill in my tanks now, and buying 3/4 aircraft per day.

I know my shares are 9.02 but a worthwhile investment, 1 person has 100k, another 200k, and i know they only bought them at less than $1 so they've made a killing, mine are going up in the region of .50 per day
