That can't be Meltzers big news it was suprising but not a big story.

    It is.

And this what you get when you cross report MMA & Pro Wrestling as he does.

Anyone here that follows the games industry can tell me how badly THQ is in the ****ter? As to make it relevant to Wrestling apparently the UFC game helped bank roll the last WWE game and WWE undercard talent heavily rely on that game paycheck wise.

THQ are fairly f***ed tbh. From JayK in the WWE 13 thread:
it's more of the fact that THQ are spending way too much money on promotional campaigns for games, creating hype that they cannot live up to. Red Faction: Armageddon comes to mind. They also spent a ridiculous amount of money developing the uDraw which retailers couldn't sell, and bought very expensive licences to create games for it (Spongebob Squarepants being the most expensive). Not to mention their CEO, Brian Farrell, was making $700,000 a year, which they weren't making enough money to safely pay him that. Just poor money management.

Because of this, and being that they're a publicly traded company, interest in their product have gone down and their shares have gone from about $30 to currently $.61. NASDAQ required shares to be a minimum of $1 to be listed, and they have until July 23rd to get it back up to that point, which at this rate, is seemingly impossible. THQ will be gone by next Spring unless a miracle happens.

In a city of 13 million people, seems a shame that they used such a small building for the show.

Suprised no one has posted this yet:
Former WWE Divas Champion Kelly Kelly has been granted time off from WWE, according to PWInsider.

The website reports that K2 has been given the time off to recharge her batteries after spending six years on the road with WWE full-time.

Kelly, who began her career with the company at just 18, has spent most of her adult life on the road with the company. A source tells PWInsider: “She’s been here since [she] was a kid. She had been pushing for time away to spend with her family and her boyfriend. Six years for someone of her age is a lifetime. She needed a break.”

However, the report adds that there is some speculation over Kelly’s future with WWE, with “word among a number of talents within the company is that they don’t believe she’s returning anytime soon”.

The report adds that Kelly has been promoting herself under her real name, Barbie Blank, and points out that she is accepting endorsements and appearances through an agent outside of WWE.

Her Twitter bio currently reads: “For full appearances/endorsements please contact Heidi at heidi@atamanagement.com.”

Kelly competed on Raw just two weeks ago and currently represents WWE as one of two Divas on Maxim’s Hot 100 for 2012.

    Numbers game -

Today marks the 200th consecutive day of CM Punks current WWE Heavyweight Championship run.

If he keeps the belt for 11 more days, he will overtake The Undertaker in the all-time list of combined days as WWE Champion.

If he keeps it until Summerslam he will overtake JBL, Yokozuna, Ultimate Warrior, Billy Graham, Kurt Angle, and The Rock.

Tomorrow will mark the 250th consecutive day since John Cena has been champion.

Didn't Bruno Sammartino hold the belt for over seven years at one time? Also Bob Backland and Hogan had very lengthy reigns.

He's not moving in to number one. He is still miles away from that:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WWE_Champions#List_of_combined_reigns

Look at the top of the list and it shows how little the title means now a days. Cena with ten reigns is only a quarter of the time as Sammartino with two reigns.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,600 ✭✭✭✭CMpunked

Maybe the article meant the longest consecutive holding of the belt and not the misinformed 'combined days' that it has.

To be fair, the championship is defended a hell of a lot more these days than it was then and with more overall exposure through the medium of international television you cant have the same kind of championship reigns as they did back then.

Maybe not 7 years, but the Champion should not have to defend every PPV. Booked properly, the champion should only defend once ever 2-3 months, making it seem like a huge deal, and a special attraction on TV.

This. Also I watched Summerslam 2002 a few weeks back and you had Jeff Hardy and RVD in a ladder match, beating the hell out of each other, all for the hardcore title.

Really miss the days when even the lower tier belts meant something.

It would also build the prestige of ALL the titles; if the WWE and WHC are only main eventing once every 3-4 PPVs, then the US and IC titles might be bigger draws for PPVs as well if booked the same way.

Regarding Raw's 1000th episode, there seems to be some confusion as to whether the real 1000th episode will be July 23rd or July 30th. Regardless, WWE are promoting it as the July 23rd episode. But the 900th episode was on August 30th 2010 which would mean the real 1000th episode would fall on July 30th.

Sometimes they skip a Smackdown around Christmas, could have done the same for Raw?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,888 ✭✭✭Charisteas

Had to edit my previous post, actually there would have had to have been an extra episode somewhere for them to think July 23rd is the 1000th episode.

If there was a skipped Monday night missing, then August 5th would be the 1000th.

    Head melting!

I thought that myself but assumed I was reading it wrong :o

Maybe they counted one of the Tribute to the Troops?

    Laurinaitis to Join Vince's "Club?"
The Wrestling Observer is reporting that there has been discussion of having John Laurinaitis join Vince McMahon's "Kiss My Ass Club" next week on Raw.

As previously announced, McMahon will be appearing on Raw next week to evaluate Laurinaitis' job performance.

    Wrestling Observer:
Nothing has been done over the Ambrose vs. Foley introductory angle of late and there are forces now against it that are right at the top.

Ambrose is still screaming major league:

Ambrose and Regal wrestle each other tonight at the final FCW tapings too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,478 ✭✭✭✭gnfnrhead

Ambrose and Regal had a great match earlier in the year. Really showed how good Ambrose is. Why the hell they arent giving him a shot during the summer downtime is beyond me.
