Local advertisements are promoting that WWE's No Way Out PPV, which is returning in June, will be centered around the story line of
John Cena vowing that John Laurinaitis will have "no way out."

    Source: The Wrestling Observer Newsletter:
    – Regarding Kharma’s status, she has been ready to return for a while but with the recent change in Divas Title storyline, WWE creative currently has nothing for her at last word. She will be back shortly though.

Here are some recent WWE attendance figures:

    * RAW on May 11th in Glens Falls, NY drew more than 5,500 fans for $230,000.
    * RAW on May 12th in Syracuse, NY drew 5,500 fans for $195,000.
    * SmackDown on May 12th in Newark, DE drew 3,200 fans for $105,000.
    * RAW on May 13th in Rochester, NY drew 5,500 fans for $190,000.
    * SmackDown on May 13th in Youngstown, OH drew 3,500 fans for $100,000.

We noted earlier this week that WWE officials were “in a panic” over the Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H storyline and were considering having the match take place at June’s No Way Out pay-per-view. In an update, they are considering it for No Way Out or July’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view. The match was originally planned for SummerSlam in August.

Moving the match up would extend the time between Lesnar appearances on WWE TV this year since it’s believed they only have him for around 24 dates this year with the rest of the dates being used next year for WrestleMania season. The main reason for keeping Lesnar out until the SummerSlam match was because they had already burned through 5 dates between WrestleMania and Extreme Rules.

Very interesting article on uber money mag Forbes of the rock from his wwf days to his massive revival of some action movie franchises:

    http://www.forbes.com/sites/dorothypomerantz/2012/05/16/the-rock-is-kicking-ass-and-saving-franchises/

An interesting point is when Rock's ex-wife says that it was hollywood agents who wanted Rock to leave behind, well, The Rock.
“When he was wrestling, he was at 270 pounds and the ruler of the world,” says Dany Garcia, his manager and ex-wife. “When he went into movies he dropped to 230 pounds and they told him to stop talking about wrestling.”

To Johnson and Garcia, who’s been an integral part of Johnson’s career since they met as teens, it felt very much like the early days with the WWE when Johnson was encouraged to play a character that didn’t quite fit. “It reached a point where I felt that instead of me trying to conform to Hollywood, I needed to have Hollywood conform to me and embrace my past,” says Johnson.

So last year Johnson took matters into his own hands. He ditched his agents at CAA in favor of Ari Emanuel’s WME, decided to focus mostly on action movies—and decided to start wrestling again. “People love him as a wrestler,” says WME’s Brad Slater, “and because he left seven years ago, there’s a whole generation of young fans who never saw him.” In April The Rock fought John Cena in a Wrestlemania battle, the most-watched in the history of the 27-year event, which raked in $67 million, thanks to 1.3 million pay-per-view downloads in 105 countries.

He's easily put that 40 pounds back on, and then some, in pure muscle. And it was also last year when he opened his Twitter account, so he's obviously got a lot more flexibility and freedom with his new agents.

Hopefully not too long before we see him back, Summerslam is really only 13 weeks away. Surprised he didn't do anything WWE related for his 40th Birthday 2 weeks ago.

Surprised to see those attendance figures... Back in the height of the Monday night wars - WCW was pulling in 30,000 people for some Nitro events.

    The good ol' days, Brother!

    Where's that Attitude Era thread..............

Can anyone tell me - Do they only fill up one side of the arena now for camera angles? I know years back - they had more than enough in attendance to fill all sides.

I think those figures listed are mostly for houseshows. TV tapings usually get a full house, you see the opening shot for most shows pans across the arena. I know in some circumstances they'll offer concessions and maybe tarp off the upper deck on the hard camera side if sales are poor.

Smackdown's having a REALLY tough time at the moment, for both tapings and house shows. The tarp can extend from the upper decks to almost the whole side of the arena behind the camera.

Back when WCW were about to close they'd just move the set/backstage area up halfway closer to one end of the arena. Looked mostly grand on camera unless u were looking out for it.

It's funny, in America it seems to be all about the TV ratings with less emphasis on attendance, yet in this part of the world people often talk about attendance's for Premiership football matches or Heineken Cup rugby etc and I never hear anyone say wow RTE or Sky Sports got a 1.2 rating for the game last night.

Or is Pro Wrestling the only sport where attendance isn't discussed in great detail (with the exception of Wrestlemania)?

ratings are less important to sky than rte. subscriptions are obviously key for sky and if they drop then thats an issue. rte as a public service broadcaster has a role to show certain games (espec loi) but make a lot of advertising revenue from the likes of Man u games and Ireland which is directly tied to how many viewers they have. This is why united tend to be the game shown even if it's less appealing than all other games

Del Rio would kick the tripe out of Sin Cara.. I saw him fight a few years back in MMA. Very good upper body wrestling.

Apparently Sin Cara and Alberto Del Rio were tag team partners in CMLL. Not saying it's anything to go by or that this is bullsh*t but I don't trust Konnan for the truth really.

That was said elsewhere on the podcast.

There was reports of serious heat between the two both when Sin Cara joined the FCW roster and then WWE for undisclosed reasons. Mistico has a rep for having a 90s Shawn Michaels level diva ego.

Alberto's MMA career popped up during Joe Rogan's podcast with Chael Sonnen this week too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,500 ✭✭✭✭DEFTLEFTHAND

Del Rio is Mexican wrestling royalty, Mistico would want to get himself an army before he comes after the Rodriguez family.

well, someone might as well post it then...:pac:

I am just shocked sin cara did not botch pulling the gun on del rio and drop the thing shooting himself in the process.

Stolen off the youtube video, I got a chuckle out of it anyway.

Court Baurer made a joke. WrestleGuy2k11 or whatever mishears it tweets Angle. Angle mad.

Konnan isnt an out and out liar. He is like Paul Heyman there are things he says are legit and the other stuff is a work. The fun is in figuring out what lies behind the work.

Re: Jericho from Mike Johnson of PWInsider who broke the Jericho's return story in contrast to Meltzer he may or may not plans change all the time stance:

For those who have asked about Chris Jericho's status with WWE, he is finishing up very soon to tour this summer. He's actually stayed longer than initially planned, so this week may be his final shots, but I haven't heard that 100%.

    TMZ.com:
Former WWE superster Chyna collapsed at a porn convention in Miami today and taken to a nearby hospital … TMZ has learned … her third such episode in as many days.

Chyna was appearing at the 2012 Exxxotica Expo to help promote Vivid Entertainment’s porn parody of “Avengers” — she plays She-Hulk (yes, really). A rep for Vivid tells TMZ the company was worried about her after yesterday’s medical scare … but Chyna insisted she was ok.

We’re told Chyna made it to the convention center today, but passed out in the lobby and was taken to Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach.

As TMZ first reported, in addition to passing out yesterday at the convention … she was kicked out of a party on Thursday night for her unruly behavior, which included passing out in a pool.

There's lol dumb druggy and there is holy **** do something. This is the latter.

Would Vivid Entertainment be the porn equivalent of WWE in that they are the leaders in their industry?

There's probably a parallel universe somewhere where guys watch a live 2 hour porn show every Monday night and then go onto an Internet forum to give out about the quality of the roster and the booking of the show, but then praise the 3 hour PPV's one Sunday a month where the talent are given more time to perform.

They tour America where the local jobber men/women are pinned in 3 minutes by the experienced men/women on the roster.

Although the kayfabe terms 'ScrewJob', 'Curtain Jerker', and 'Shoot', mean completely different things, and The Ringmaster would have been remembered as a great name.
