Sounds like an episode of TJ Hooker.

No, pre-dates that. I was very young when I saw it so it's definitely early-mid 70s at latest. I don't recall it being an episodic cop series either, more of a specific finite one.

Can you remember if it was set in the US, the UK, or somewhere else?

Pretty sure it was US as they were dealing in dollars. Was in colour as as far as I remember.

Spotters prize!! I'd say that's the very one; unfortunately IMDB or Youtube haven't much on this and the series doesn't appear to be available on DVD or anything.

    Great make.

    Great thread!

There's one driving me mad for a long time. Set around Manhattan and Long Island, late 90s perhaps, main characters are a judge trying to get his son who in financial trouble due to dodgy stock market dealings out of trouble. I could swear Ben Stiller was in it in a non comic role (cop? reporter maybe?) - but I've looked at full list of his films and nothing fits so maybe it wasnt him at all

    any ideas?

possibly a film from the 70's or 80's that was like the Count of Monte Cristo and set around the same time
The only scene I remember is that the protagonist was locked in a cell with about 9 doors between him and freedom
Someone smuggled a knife into his bread I think and he spends the night cutting away at the doors until he gets to the last one and he is too exhausted and the guards find him there the next morning
    Swashbuckler?
    The fifth Musketeer?

My mistake. The Greek wrestler thing seems to fit but I don't think the film I remember was so much a crime thriller, more of a family drama type thing. I think the main wrestler guy had a son or a younger brother and also a blond girlfriend.

This is a long shot but does anyone remember mid to early 90's they had a late night season on Sky1 (not the Sky movie channel, the original regular Sky channel) where they showed obscure horror B-movies? Can't remember most of them but one shown was the Incredible Three Headed Transplant (1971). There was another one I saw that's bugging me, it was this very off the wall black and white science fiction/comedy film from probably the early 60's. It was about these two astronauts who are sent to the moon and the only bit I can clearly remember is they meet this bunch of red indians on the moon. There was a bit where the two astronauts and the red indians are sitting around a campfire and they're smoking a peacepipe (I think). One of the indian's, who I clearly remember was wearing jeans starts dancing around the fire and there followed this bit that seemed to last for ages with no dialogue with just him dancing in a circle and the others around the fire. What the hell is this film or did I dream it?

Thanks but it wasn't that. This film was clearly played for laughs and it seemed to have a very low budget .

Try "Invasion of the Star Creatures". 1962 B&W movie that's more akin to a cross between slapstick and the airplane movies. The scene you're describing isn't set on the moon, it's during a chase scene in some underground caverns where they run into a native american indian band.

Can anyone think of a film by this description ? :

Now I only remember it very vaguely since it's near 20 years when I saw it on telly. I'm certain it's from the 90's

Setting : town in rural America. Could well be Colorado. I think it may have been a mountain town.
Gets taken over by these like superior malevolent species of human being or something to that effect.
Theres a scene where the whole town are gathered in a building at night during heavy snowstorm. (I think).

That's all I can think of.

Storm of the century. It was a stephen king mini series.

Yes, thats it! I remember now the vegetable people or whatever they were supposed to be. I think I repressed the majority of this movie from my memory or else I was half asleep watching it. That season of films was on very late at night. Apart from TITHT I can only remember vague details about the other films shown in that slot.

Another one. A mystery/detective series from the past 30 years, Canadian made I'm pretty sure. The main protagonist, a mustachioed man with glasses, has or acquires clairvoyant powers. In one episode he meets an elderly Jewish man and can see in his distant past a scene where the man is alighting with other Jews from a (concentration camp?) train at night. In another episode, a suspended or former ice hockey player is watching games from a balcony stadium box. He frequently bangs at the box window with his hands in frustration; the window gives way one night and he falls out to his death. It subsequently transpires the retaining bolts on the window have been deliberately loosened by someone who knew his habits.

    Ideas?

This should be good, I'm terrible at details:

From what I recall, it's a film from the 80s or 90s, where a kid finds/discovers a robot alien/s that follow him around. It's/They're small, fly and mostly set in an apartment in a run down neighbourhood, iirc. There's cockroaches in it. That's about all I remember, and I could be mixing a couple of films together. Can't for the life of me find out what it is, if it exists!

Sounds a bit like "*batteries not included", but there wasn't a small child in it. There were, however, tiny alien robots. It was lovely, Don Ameche and Jessica Tandy were in it, too.

I'm trying to identify the following film (my memory is a little hazy so some of this may be inaccurate).

I think it's an 80's comedy about a copywriter or advertising executive. He becomes disillusioned with his job or has a breakdown of some sort. He starts creating ads, much to the dismay of his employers, that say stuff like "Porsche's are pieces of crap but they'll guarantee you a beautiful girlfriend".

However this approach to advertising is an inadvertent success and he finds he's the most in-demand copywriter in the business.

    Any ideas?

    Many thanks.

Movie from the 90's (I think), that I thought starred Fred Savage but doesn't, movie title has the name of the character in it. Plot is about a pseudo socialist future where smart people are dumbed down using a device on their heads to make everyone equal (or basketball is played with a flat ball for the same effect), but is actually controlled in the background by a bunch of super smart people. Main character gets caught when he goes to an illicit chess playing gathering.
