Seriously recnib, we've got a perfectly good SSF4 thread here, we don't need a new thread for every little thing to do with it!

Apologies man, used to some other forums where they don't have conveniencies like that

    • Combos, combos, combos! Drill these: cr.LK cr.LP xx light Rising Jagga (RJ); cr.LPx3 xx light RJ; cl.HP cr.LP xx light RJ.
    • Also learn RJ xx Ultra 2 (most damage off medium RJ).
    • Learn safe-jump options off front throw.
    • Learn ambiguous/unblockable setup off back throw.
    • Learn spacing for cr.MP/st.HK/st.HP/cr.HP footsies.
    • Learn instant Air Jaguar Kick (iAJK) -- u, qcb+K / uf, qcb+K / qcb, u+K / qcb, uf+K. This is one of your main chip tools, failure to use it will cost you dearly.
    • Make them respect the sweep.

Don't ever do one of those wall dive things against Ultra 1 Rose. Ever.

    Nah, you're wrong Sai.

You do Jagga Toof as a random, unexpected thing; EX Jagga Toof vs fireballs; and as a sneaky crossup secret tech cough cough.

Unless Rose is in the middle of something else, at 3/4 screen she can catch every strength of Tooth on reaction. Unless my knowledge is horribly out of date at this stage, which is a real possibility.

You would need to be 100% sure you're opponent is not watching for it. At this point, I'm able to catch Goukens on reaction with Sonic Hurricane, and they all seem to just assume they're safe like this. Relying on your opponent to fail is not a great strat!

Adon can use LK (and maybe MK?) to bait out Rose's U1 (unless you have lightning reactions to get him coming at you)

I still prefer U1 in this matchup though to stop jaguar kicks.

Remember that time I told you that Sonic Hurricane wouldn't hit me all set, then I did a short Jagga Toof, you Ultra'd, I taunted and you didn't do it again for the next 3+ games?

    MINDGAMES, SON.

I'm actually trying out Adon for a bit as an experiment.

Is this a bandwagon I find myself on?

It's already quite well balanced, I'm not sure what else he wants to do with it! Seth/Guile nerfs I suppose.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,333 ✭✭✭Sairus

That really is a bit silly.

Now if they added the four new SF guys from SFxT for a reasonable price I'd be down with that, but stand alone SFIV really doesn't need any more fixing.

Need to get Fergus in to the game balancing department stat. He knows what's what.

I say leave it alone... or move on to SF5, or ALPHA 4 O_o

If they do decide to rebalance SF4 again I'd like them to do it as a disc release. Call it SF4:Final or some****e. Fill out the stages, add trials for all characters. Into and outro movies for all characters and a full and interesting Gallery of unlockable artwork etc. I'd buy that.

Speaking of stages, we need a lot more. they also don't need to be full of dancing idiots or fat dudes with cameras, Sagats Buddha stage, Ryus quiet rooftop/temple stages, E.Honda's bath house... there are loads of unused instantly recognisable stages nevermind new ideas. With some tweaking to some background models (cruiseship stern/india stage) they could easily have Vega's bar scene or DJ's Jamaican party stage. I think the roster is wide and (imo) balanced enough outside of some stupid unblockables that a final wave of the polish brush and some additions to the online options would be enough. That and stages... I mentioned stages yeah?

EDIT: and take out Seth. That too.

    Nerf Cammy and Seth

Ban cody and Honda from game altogether

Insert Shin Gouken for general play

    Best game ever.

This ^^ and No more characters. Game is fine for balance but not bs. Remove unblockables and fix hitboxes. Give ex zonk more recovery on whiff....

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 25,880 Mod ✭✭✭✭Doctor DooM

Apparently, the same thing which makes Guile prone to unblockables is the same thing which makes his FK autocorrect poorly.

You know what you have to do, Capcom.

Seriously, remove te unblockables and I don't think there's much more I'd do to it. For my characters, maybe restore Sonic Hurricane's damage and give poor ol Deejay back his throw invincibility during sobat (it looks silly when someone command grabs him out of it).

  • Moderators Posts: 5,599 ✭✭✭Azza

    Remove unblockables.
    Offline recording mode.
    Online training mode.
Update the trails to the current standard and add the missing trails for characters.
Fix bugs, like certain moves not being counter hitable on start up.
    I'm meh on stages.
Suppose they could add the SFxT Street Fighter characters but I'm on meh on that too.

If there is balance changes, just do minor changes.
Like if they nerf Cammy or Seth don't take anything away from then, just adjust there damage/stun or health slightly.

So how many characters have these almost-unblockables? It seems like something most of the cast could do with well aimed cross ups after a throw.

Also, the music in that video is awesome.

In theory every character can do them, but some (like Guile) are more prone than others to being hit by them.

According to Dieminion it's because of the delay on Guile's turn around when he gets crossed up (which also causes his FK to not auto correct).

I dunno if that's just him saying so though.

I would assume there are limits on who can do them as a requirement is the character needs a crossup that can activate directly above the opponent before they fully stands after a throw/knockdown. Someone with throws that only leave the opponent right next to themselves would need to reposition before jumping, etc.

Admittedly that's a pretty wide pool, so ultimately everyone probably has it in some form.

That doesn't sound like it holds much water based on Laugh/Infiltrations' video. They claim in order to block it you need to block on the exact frame it hits - the time it takes for Guile to turn would be irrelevant because there are no in between frames for anything Guile does differently from other characters to occur.

Unless it's something to do with how Guile actually detects crossups that makes 'unblockables' that would normally need to be blocked as a crossup need to be blocked normally.

I dunno, it's too late for me to be thinking through this stuff. I'm just desperately trying to think of stuff to do so I won't have to get out from under this warm table and go to bed.

Also, on a completely unrelated note I blew a bunch of SF players minds at Final Round Bats the other week by focusing the first hit of Akuma's Ex Hadouken, backdashing and focusing the second hit. There was a nice wave of "That's bull****!" from everyone watching :pac:

I'm not majorly sure of this stuff but I do know there's a big proportion of unblockables which work on Guile.

Speaking of stages, we need a lot more.

Agreed, a quick and easy fix they can do is to make the bonus stages into playable stages to fight on, its already been done by the PC modding community

    and

They could also do night time versions of some of the other stages like they did with the jungle and china stages in the console version of Vanilla, Id like to see the Korean stage at night personally.

Also, demonstrated by the PC modding community, the character models between SF4 and SFXT are totally interchangeable.

    Rolento in SSF4

    Seth and Oni in SFXT

And yes, they need to give all the characters proper updated trials without the game reverting back to regular Super, which is beyond lame. I lost my save for the PS3 version and had to redo all Guys trials, and was stuck for a while on the ones that involved his crouching light kick, as that was 4 frames in Super and changed to 3 frames in AE. Proper trials for Yung, Yang, Oni, Evil Ryu (and the SFXT characters if they add them) is also a given, there are already some fan made trails for these characters online that have been praised by the community, so why not just copy those ones ?.

And even though it doesn't mean much to competitive players, bring back survival, time attack and all the other modes that were in vanilla's single player game that for whatever reason were, were committed from Super, as well as the gallery. And give Yung, Yang, Oni, Evil Ryu (and the SFXT characters if they add them) proper rival cut scenes in Arcade mode.

99% of what Ive mentioned above is stuff they already have that just needs to be recycled, or stuff that wouldn't be very difficult to implement.
