Any distinctive Akuma changes? Is U2 actually useful?

Yeah his knee shot has massive priority :D I don't think there were any changes to it in AE, it was already that good.

It's hit box and frame data are the same, it's much easier to do in the heat of battle now as you can hit any of the down directions to do it.

Ah this I did not know. I was putting off learning Yun as I was afraid I'd start mixing up dive kick inputs when I reverted to DeeJay (Yun being df, deejay being d). Edit: Thinking about it, that makes a huge difference to Deejays pressure as you can instantly charge down back after hitting the knee shot input. Before you had to hit down for knee shot then into charge db. I have to get into training mode with this information.

Doom, reading your thoughts on Guile and his major nerfs, are you still sticking with him or do you see yourself maining DeeJay (or someone else in AE).

I'm not sure if I am maining Deejay and alting Guile or maining Guile and alting Deejay yet, but sadly the days of me being a character specialist are going to have to go. I'm losing matches with Guile where I am hitting big combos and playing safe. Deejay feels easy mode to me already on the contrary.

EDIT: Futureguy, was Deejay able to cancel cr lk into sobat before? I just discovered it when messing in training, it's incredibly useful for safe pressure.

Well, things change at Capcom all the time frankly. It’s a matter of internal focus and planning. Saying what’s next for us in fighting games, where do we want to have our energy, our key staff working on games and things like that.

The thinking was, we’re going to set down Street Fighter IV and let it ride with Arcade Edition. But of course, things change all the time at Capcom, so if Arcade Edition does very well, I’m sure there will be some guy in a suit somewhere saying “you need to do this again!” and we’ll be back here talking again. But that’s a-okay with me.

So about those two empty slots..

    EDIT:

Also, here's a handy enough wee video running through the changes for a few characters in AE. This isn't an exhaustive list though, as he misses a few obvious changes, still worth a gawk though. I for one didn't know Adon's EX Jaguar Tooth was fireball invincible, or about Gouken's throw causing damage scaling.

Get home after 9 hours on various buses.
    Try to buy the dlc.
Have to register a new credit card
    Get more MS points
Wait an hour for download to complete (thanks vodafone)
    Play one game as oni
Pause to look at command list. disc crashes
    Game refuses to load again
Go to xtravision look for a rental copy or the 2nd hand one that's always in there. none.
Console self with MK9 purchase as I noticed multiple copies for sale.
    They have none
Go home, try install the disc, repeatedly fails.
Turn xbox upside down try again, fail.

    cry.
    sleep.

It's very useful for pressure and goes right over alot of footsies. IIFC though, you can now be thrown out of the light sobat. I dont ususally use it as much since I rarely use c.lk vs anyone except shotos as my first attack after a crossup. Mainly c.lp into block string/throw/combo etc.

Really enjoying learning Oni. He has some crazy mix-ups going on and the air dashing/cross-up special makes him an interesting character.

I'm beginning to get the feel for the Yun match-up. DeeJay has some good tools against him.

Yeah, between boom slide and upkicks it could be a hard match for the twins.

Yeah, between boom slide and upkicks it could be a hard match for the twins.

With the greater recovery on the maxout and the more solid slide, it makes it a little difficult for Yun to get in. I'm beating dives kicks quite regularly with the slide but I have to admit the upkicks seem to trade with dive kicks on occasion. It might be the angle they are coming in at.

I think both characters will have to respect each others anti-airs specials. I stay grounded against Yun unless I'm mixing the boom slide with boom > j.hp. His ex aa beats my ambiguous cross-ups almost every time. I must read up on whether I can beat it.

I had that so many damn times I started tearing everything I bought open right at the door so I could turn right round and hurl it at them if it wan't right.

When I bought KOFXI they brought me out KINGDOM HEARTS, thankfully I was paying attention and called them out before they got it through.

Seriously it's not that ****ing hard, the cases were the complete inverse of one another to boot.

Out of the entire Phoenix Wright series (5 games) I got sold the right game once. I lean over the counter to watch them put the game in the case or outright ask them to show me now.

Can't say I've ever had anything like that happen to me - although there was this one time my brother bought a used copy of Crash Bandicoot 3 and there was also a copy of Crash Team Racing inside the box.

For extra fun note that in my example it wasn't even just the wrong disc in the box, it was brand new and they managed to come out with the complete wrong package, differently coloured box and all. :pac:

I had the same thing from xtra vision a while ago with fight night 4 instead of champion. I should have checked it in the shop. The LADY had not got a clue. :)

Apart from anything else that is a crap price for a used MK9. You have to buy a Kombat pass after that.

Yeah I asked for a new copy, I brought it back and got a refund.

Hosting a game is always a sure way to get a match. Plus with AE just out, I'd imagine the online is buzzing right now.

I am on PS3 and there is loads of games. Start an arcade game and loads of people will join in. Start a custom game and change the region to any then select a good connection. I don't get many from Ireland on PS3 but loads from the UK.

If you want to add me my tag is plumpynuter

Played abit more over the weekend.

Have yet to play anyone using Yang.

Evil Ryu seems alright. His damage output is insane, but he hasn't got the mix up to get it started to often. Still Dragon Stomp is an awesome looking move visually.

More I use Bison the more I think that S.HK got buffed. Majority of grounded roundhouses seem to do full damage. Its only as anti air that you get less damage.

Yun isn't too bad so far. If you at full screen, you can walk backwards and avoid any ex.lunge punishes and get a free punish. His normal lunge punches are unsafe. His DP isn't great, doesn't seem to have much invincible frames or a great box for dealing with grounded meaties. I believe max range meaty c.mk makes his DP's whiff (same for Yang). Can anti air him at range and trades seem to be in all my favour. Up close he is a pain, Dive kicks are very hard to deal with when he gets in. Ex.Psycho mostly trades with close light/medium dive kicks and breaks his pressure though. If he uses hk dive up close he will stuff the ex.pc and case a reset. Yun can punish my beloved ex.psycho on block everytime though which makes me sad. From direct jump in's his normal Dragon Kicks trade against ex.pc but unlike everyone else his EX. DK whiffs instead of wining clean.

But yeah looks about even. I seen a few people suggesting its even in Bison's favour but too early too tell. If I could change 1 thing about Yun, I'm make ex.lunge 0 on block and if I could change 2 I would reduced his stun level to 900. I can see why he's best but he isn't vanilla Sagat.

Cammy's much less trouble some too. Don't feel near as pressured by her now when she gets in. Still though her ambigious cross ups are godlike still.

Guile easier too. Match is approching 6:4 in terms of difficulty,
    Honda easier too.

Makoto is much tougher now so thats probably an even match up now and Gief is damn near Bipsons hardest match.
    Guy looks tough too.

Haven't seen much of Oni yet. Don't really know much about him yet.

My feelings on Yun are very similar, if you can keep him away he's no threat at all. It's a bit mental ex shoulder can punish a sonic boom on reaction but I can't have everything my own way- Yun can't really palm to build meter because of the wacky boom games. I wasn't able to block the ex shoulder on reaction from 3/4 screen (which is mental for such a high damage, safe move) but I wasn in XGC and those couple of frames could make the difference. Dive kicks are extremely anti airable, and air throw kills in the match up because of yuns low health.

He is absolutely the worst character in the game when he gets in though.
