Keeping the verge line on one side looks awful. Could they not have mirrored the tarmac (which presumably will be marked as a cycle lane)?

Shannon is a terminal destination of the N19. Knock isn't a terminal destination.

Ireland West is a terminal destination of the R376, which is only 1 and a 1/4 mile long, from it's junction of the N17 to the gate of the airport.(so in effect a destination on the N17)
It's also the largest airport in Connaught. All the councils in Connaught make funding available to the airport to improve it, and by even just listing it as a destination on road signs it help advertise it, especially if people pass the signs every day, it becomes part of their consciousness, and can help improve business at the airport. Letterkenny is destination listed further up the N17 and to get to it you need to take N17, N4, N15, N13 and then N56. Maybe a review of how destinations are listed is in order

Not sure I follow the logic there. Surely, airports are important destinations and should be sign-posted?

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,997 ✭✭✭threeball

Have there been any official opening dates given yet even for sections of it?

There are rules about what appears on signs. Terminal destinations of routes are one thing that should always appear. Shannon Airport is the terminal destination of the n19, Knock is not a terminal destination of an N road

Don't be talking common sense...better to leave it idle there for two months as it's handier for the contract arrangements
...as the country groans under an infrastructural deficit and needs every bit of new Motorway possible- open.

A direct access to a field there. Hopefully it's for emergency use only.

Yeah, looks like a similar one on the M6 near Ballinasloe.

There's plenty of these on long stretches without junctions for emergency access, similar to the one on the N6 near Ballinasloe and there's several on the M7 PPP which has around 20km between junctions.
