Not sure why people are still freting over FPS, They have said several times the current build is pretty much all CPU reliant, so that beast of a GPU you have rumbling away wont do that much. Finished client will obv be properly optimized(we hope :P) and FPS should be more acceptable.

That being said I had 25-50fps constant on max settings for all the PVP and PVE I done. average components.

Im really hoping not, i was so looking forward to dynamic random pve events, any thought guys?

It's definitely not 100% PvP. The PvE is just different to the typical model. Some people are looking at the lack of 'end game' and assuming there is no PvE. Instead of going into dungeons to fight bosses and get loot, everything is outside and dynamic. It's the most fun and dynamic online world I've ever come across.

There are event areas marked on the map with big hearts, and these are areas where stuff is always happening. In between these areas there are other random events that people can trigger. Loads of little (and big!) bosses. I'm not sure what triggers them, for some it's a timer, or the time of day in game, or the number of people in the areas, or NPCs just going about their routine, etc.

Basically you're encouraged and rewarded to just explore the world as opposed to loading up a bunch of quests in a town and heading out with those in mind.

Yea but my CPU is on idle more or less. Hardly getting used. 20% usage in total.

    Guild Wars 2 Beta weekend!

What a weekend i want to say thanks to all the boards people who came onto mumble and had some fun! :D Was a good weekend and im glad i got talking to all you guys.

My time in the beta was fantastic in all honesty. Usually i am very sceptical and don't give games a chance and stop playing within a few hours but this was so far off the mark it was staggering.

I spent the main portion of my 34 hours of playtime playing Guardian. Which was amazing it kind of plays like a paladin mixed with the option of quickly switching to the Great Sword and becoming a force to be reckoned with in damage output.

The dynamic events where great!. Granted some had scaling issues but these should all be ironed out as the game progresses and the Dev's get feedback from players. I was playing with some friends and we where exploring some misty ghost infested dark Graveyard when all of a sudden a massive group of players ran past escorting some NPC's. We decided to join in and ran with them and ended up in an Underground dungeon fighting off dark shamans as we protected the NPC's. The way the world evolves and moves feels fluid and fantastically alive.

Granted i did have some issues with the lack of /say chat but i have reported this many times and so have others leading to the developers to respond saying they are working on it.

The WvWvW was just massive it was beyond comprehension we walked into it and i was greeted by the gasp from a fellow Boards member on mumble as he was shocked by the sheer enormity of the PVP maps.

The game will have a massive and thriving pvp side to it but there was so many dynamic events and jumping puzzles , underwater dungeons and this EXTREMLY hard underwater char who would boil you alive as quick as look at you.

If anyone is still on the fence about Guild Wars 2 just take the plunge. No monthly fees and the game is just huge.

After the weekend of playtime i checked my world completion and was sitting at 6%.

Seriously best MMO ive ever played.

Downloaded some small update on sunday which caused the game to break after a few minutes :( I did like what I saw.

I Liked the way you could complete area quests in different ways.

Engineer was a good fun support class, I'd imagine this class along with a minion master would hold control points in PvP without too much hassle.

Didn't try any mele classes but I'd hope that there were a lot of cripple/stun combos otherwise it'll be a casters wet dream.

I did have my doubts about the lack of a second profession, but this game seems to be focusing more on team combination s and that's not a bad thing at all.

Wonder if there will only be 4 character slots available in the full game, this would be a pity.

Looking forward to the next beta.

You can buy character slots. Handy way for Arenanet to get some extra cash from people who play a lot. And since it's f2p, it's still good value.

I'm going to pre-purchase this week. Would like to get into the next beta.

:):):)That was an amazing weekend of pure fun and rejuvenated life brought back into MMO's.:):):)

There were issues with logging in Fri + Sat, but they are forgivable due to the number of people flooding the login servers.
At least this has been resolved before the release.
There are several other issues but nothing that isn't forgivable as there are so many things that have been polished of and refined.
A lot of the old dated WoW pitfalls have been fixed / changed... no offence to WoW.

It appears the GW2 is the next generation in MMO, while WoW was the 1st gen...
All thats left is the fix up the remaining bugs and see how well GW2 holds up vs WoW.

Thank you MikeyJoyce for letting us use your Mumble server, it was great been able to run with people and co-ord while we did that mini water dungeon and WvWvW... :)

PvP was given new life with how the World vs World vs World has been designed, along with the profession balances...
Less WoW gear, more GW2 skill = PvP wins

Myself I had a lvl 30 Elementalist and 13% world completation at the end of the beta... :p

Had a real blast this weekend with this, played Ranger to level 20 and Mesmer/Warrior to level 5, preferred the ranger to my play style.

This game is so big it's quite overwhelming, the cities were bloody massive had the to teleport all over the one city and visiting Lions arch... WOW! These guys working on this game for 10 years or something? i was very skeptical with classes been able to do different tasks like range and melee and such but nope! These guys nailed it, i was happily switching my Longbow and Greatsword no problem and kicking ass and taken names with both play styles.

Few issues here and there that's been said already but very confident it will be sorted on release.

Put it this way it's criminal not to own this game if you have a pc, can't believe it f2p.

Here's a couple of screens from my couple of hours time I got to play. Sorry there's no action pics, I was always too busy getting stuck in. :D I shrunk them down a bit to prevent hogging too much bandwidth. :P

Played a warrior to level 12 or so. Enjoyed it although I did find myself in trouble a number of times by taking on too many enemies. Seemed to be lacking in dps as the AH wasn't working so trying to keeping weapons/armour updated wasn't easy.

The WvWvW map is huge. Am I correct in thinking that there are no waypoints to get you into the battle quicker? At least I didn't find them anyway. When I died I had a long trek back to the action and as a result I decided to switch to using the shotgun and staying ranged a bit more but was surprised that the warrior could fill this role quite effectively. Reckon a small melee team would be able to change the battle type though so I look forward to doing so in the future.

Anyone know if ingame voice is supported? This was one thing that I forgot to check....

Seriously a very class game. I pvp'd the past few years in wow and done some in swtor but i totally see myself getting into some serious pvp in guild wars 2. The WvW area was exactly the stuff i have been looking for in a game. The area is huge like 20 times the size of av or bigger. Theres so many skirmishes going on in different areas, with some massive zergs going on too. The switching of weapons is fantastic for giving a person the right tools to beat an opponent and will seperate the good from the better players. fantastic game for pvp and cant wait for the next beta

So everything is looking fantastic thus far, almost 100% thumbs up all round here on boards and the net in general.
Is it too good to be true?
Ive a library of failed MMOs here,i really hope this is going to be different.
Signs are great for sure but i cant help wondering will everyone still be feeling the same @ endgame.

nobodys gonna know how good the game is at endgame but as you can see the game is worth the purchase. For me ill be getting stuck into WvW quiet a bit. not sure how the pve is but the pvp is right up my ally. The fact you can also quest with a mate thats 20 levels behind you and you both get xp is fantastic and you can quest with people from other servers. I hope theres plenty for you guys into pve at endgame i know the pvpers will be happy

Hmm, might hold off on the pre-purchase in that case. Don't mind not getting into the beta's, as i'd like it to be all new when it's released. Plus, i'm already broke :o

I do get the feeling it will have good legs, Im sure a year down the lane people will go back to wow, lotro, starwars etc back to there comfort zone and the 'bah habit' of your usuall mmo youve sinked massive time into and have a lot of friends and a good guild in, just the way it is.
But i defo think outa all the mmos out last couple years tera, starwars, rift etc this will hold people alot longer. PVP alone will be fun for a good while Id say.

And yes its very noob friendly most mmos are nowadays devs are terrifed to alienate noobs and newbs cause its a nice cashflow so they are all tailored for casuals and people new to genre, gw2 would be very casual friendly in the way you level, and ofc its F2P so no rush on what you do due to value for your sub.

Only 1 negative thing about the game is lack of raids at endgame, Id say the PVP and other pve aspects will make up for it, but raids are a massive endgame sink for the genre, im curious how it will workout.

I'm not so sure if people will leave it. Its casual friendly so this will enable people to continue to play it(no subs help!) as well as playing their own main mmo.

Rather it lacks raids altogether! From what I have heard instances are aimed at five man groups and no more then this.

good to know,I tried to get into swtor but just couldn't,so I think I'll give this a Try seeing as there's no monthly sub

I don't think raids are all they're cracked up to be. I've raided a bit but pvp is where the fun is to be had for me. Raids are pointless when you don't need the armor.
And why spend hours fighting through content just for some arsehole to take the armor you need for his alt?

Some of the old guild wars instances were like mini raids in themselves and were quite fun to work out.
Games should not punish people for not having the time to Raid or Grind or generally destroy their souls doing non exciting crap. Guild wars is 100% spot on in that regard. A lot of people confuse skill in mmorpgs with grinding ability, why should someone with no life be rewarded for the fact?

This is why guildwars pvp will be head and shoulders above the rest, the armor and skills will all be easily available, what you do with em....well now..that's another story , oh and if you want to look good in rediculously over priced armor, well you can do that too, in fact for those who like to grind this is where it's at.

I agree with shooter there, flipping hate grinding raids over and over .... only for some gob****e to either balls it up and we all crash and burn or for some twat to ninja the loot....
