It has to be the correct points mate. If not the Irish Times could be taken to court over displaying incorrect figures.
I was merely wondering was there even the possible bit of spin on the story.
As, all papers and media outlets, love a bit of goss. Even the 'professional' Irish Times.

They get them earlier so that it can be in the morning paper for tomorrow, so that they can print the paper with the information that everyone is dying to know.

It doesn't really jeopardize the system at all...as far as I can see !
    I see what you're saying.
Pity the results aren't just given then so, instead of all this waiting.
Students must be bricking it. Well, some.

Ah yeah sure, its only a bit of goss.

In all seriousness, I hope people get what they want. Im waiting on a media related course, which I hope will stay in and around the same points as last year.

A bit OT but in the waiting, i've just noticed that more people are looking at the LC forum than AH, first time ever i would imagine!:D

Here, I'm not being bashing of the paper, and I'm sorry if it's a silly question, but how trustworthy are the 'points' that the Irish Times have now?
    Very much so, I'd say.
But how do they have them earlier?
    Surely they aren't DEFINITE?

Wouldn't that jeopardise the integrity of the system, somewhat.
Like, a commercial newspaper knows the scores before the students.

The newspaper is one of the primary methods of notifying students of the points / what they have got.

Even before the CAO went online, the papers printed a supplement with every student's exam number listed and the code of the course they had been offered beside it.

    That's madness.
They should just release the details at twelve, so!

    True...its a bit silly.

I think we are bricking it so much that its hard to process what you're saying, to be honest...its hard to process anything more than "RESULTS AHHHHHHHHHH OMG WTF AHHHHHHHHHHHH" etc.

And on that note, RESULT AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH OMG WTF HELP!!!!

    What a dose...

I imagine last year, it was a similiar story too. That said i was probably here doing the same thing then, repeated see!:D

EDIT:In my boredom, just did a search looking for last years equivalent thread, been deleted though!

Heres a question, a random one but it popped to mind none the less! Are there different mod's in the LC forum every year?

Noticed that one is a student like the rest of us drone's:)

If you gave them your number ...

It was a hell of an improvement on waiting for unreliable post, esp in rural areas.

How? Do you own a newsagent or something?

I might go out and stalk my local shop waiting for the guy to come and deliver the papers!
