You don't really know if you were to move house to an MMDS area and moved your UPC account to that area and continued paying the same amount for a reduce service this would be unfair. UPC Cable and UPC MMDS should clearly be marketed as separate platforms with different offerings and prices which reflect their costs.

I did say: Though I do strongly agree there should be a comprehensive list of channels, including whats available where, since right now you have to get the service before you know exactly what channels you'll get.

I didn't mean a generic "you know" like "one knows what they give you". I meant the OP knows but still chooses to stay with them. The only thing ComReg could really do is force them to maintain said list

    What is Digital Select?

    What is Digital Select?

The middle channel pack: http://www.upc.ie/television/selectextra/ It's the one that costs €27 a month.

EDIT: It is listed as €32 there as it includes the Digital+ box.

I'm in Meath and I have NTL. ITV2 was added today, I haven't seen any other new channels and ESPN and Setanta Sports 1 (Not sure if SS1 is included in this deal) are both still blocked. Should I expect the other new channels and the unblocking of ESPN and possibly SS1 soon?

    What is Digital Select?

    There are 3 basic packs.

Value Select or MAX that is before you add on any extra channels like Sky Sports of Moives.

    Digital Value

    €21.00 monthly

    Digital Select Extra

    €30.00 monthly
    Digital Max

    €34.00 monthly

    See link here http://www.upc.ie/deals/made_to_measure/

You should get ESPN and the other ITV channels but SS1 is not included unless you subscribe to the Setanta Sports package.

There is a channel list on wikipedia which shows quite clearly what channels each pack contains but only in non-MMDS areas.

You won't get Setanta Sports 1 they are talking about Setanta Ireland channel 105.

As regards ESPN you need to by on the Select pack or higher.

I'm currently paying EUR 38.49 a month which covers the MAX pack and a digital+ box.

Looking at the UPC.ie site the new comers on the MAX pack are ITV2, ITV3 & ITV4 (nothing to get me exited about but still more channels) as well as FX and now ESPN and ESPN America and priced at EUR 34.00 pr month.

So far I have only got the ITV's but no FX to be found (ok maybe not released yet, but still advertised) and ESPN and ESPN America tells me that I'm "not subscribing to this channel. Press Green or call...". I thought this was part of the new MAX deal...

Is this a mistake, that I can't get ESPN / ESPN America as they are still "locked" and that I'm still forking out EUR 38.49 pr month instead of the advertised EUR 34.00?

Anyone else with the same setup as me but different output?

I don't have BB or Phone...

FX will be added later in the month.

Thanks, but looking through that list on Wikipedia has confused me. Many of the channels that are listed under Select and Max I have, but there are some I don't have. There are even some listed under Value that I don't have. I am not the billpayer in the house, so I don't know how much we pay for NTL each month. Otherwise this would be a lot easier.

Are you a cable or MMDS customer

34e will be your new price and regards to ESPN I say it will take a while to change every max and select customer over to having ESPN also

Just spoke to helpful lady there........

Told me that as an existing Max customer I will now get digital plus free on the Max package.......so thats €39 down to €34, if on Select it will now be €2 a month.

Increase will be done automatically on broadband speeds for all existing customers between March and April

Said she will ring me back with regards to my current Multiroom fee of €8.50 a month as its being disputed all morning as new customers get it for €4.25, website says its now €5 yet we are still being charged €8.50 so when she gets the final word on the pricing this afternoon she will ring me back to confirm it

Also told me that under the new pricing I can change my old pace box which is my multiroom box upstairs to a Digital + box for a once off activation fee of €20 and no monthly subscription as it will also fall under the Digital Max + package of €34

    Pretty sure I'm cable.

How long are you with UPC Digital? You maybe on one of their old packs. However I was on the lowest NTL pack and moved up to the UPC Select pack automatically.

    Pretty sure I'm cable.

Just taken from the channel list on wiki.

The availability of channels varies depending on the package chosen. Not all channels are available in all areas, however the numbering of each channel, where available, remains consistent.

I was thinking that might be the problem. I've had NTL since 2005. I know people who have subscribed to NTL a lot more recently than I have and they have a lot more channels than I have.

Nice one don't care about the food channel however Watch and FX where the only channels apart from the ITVs I really wanted.

My boradband speed is going up I have extra channels and for the packs I have my bill is coming down I think people should give a well done to UPC for this.

    That's a very good point.

Hopefully this is the start of things to come, it is certainly a good sign for 2010. :)

I think a few people wanted a Food channel on this thread or another. FX is the only interesting channel on this list IMO.

Don't get me wrong I know loads of people wanted the food channel.
For me I would rather eat it then watch it.:)

I have to say that for the first time in a long time, I'm very impressed with UPC. The addition of ESPN as well as already having Setanta Ireland makes them very competitive with Sky, from a sports fan perspective. icon14.gif
