If by ITV you mean UTV, then yes. There's no ITV2, ITV4 etc.

ITV3 has gone. I am glad ITV is gone from the EPG on UPC. UTV is the only ITV available on UPC. Hopefully they will get rid of that soon as well.
    Why?
ITV was 110, my gf found it for me.

Space & Demand vs cost. Maybe when Analogue on UPC is closed they might add them.

ITV/UTV versus TV3 OT posts moved here http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055652246

ITV3 was on NTL originally, a result of the carraige deal inherited by ITV3 from Granada Plus. ITV moved to terminate the deal not long after and ITV3 was pulled. Men and Motors left NTL not long after so I presume there was a dispute between NTL and ITV (this at the time when ITV also withdrew premission from the Irish Times to print HTV listings - make of that what you will).

Oddly ITV3 was on Sky for a while too. And ITV4. I am surprised that UPC haven't added all the ITV channels yet.

When did this happen, I would suggest when the bought TV3 but perhaps it was when the sold it to avoid competition with TV3.

I suppose they don't have competition to do it, since it isn't on the Sky EPG. I suppose it would give them a head start on Sky but perhaps the owners of TV3 have a deal with ITV preventing them from going on to the cable networks, TV3 show all of the after shows of Xfactor and Britain's got talent etc and if they want to move them to 3e they wouldn't be happy to have ITV2 on their door step.

I believe the ITV channels were pulled from UPC and Sky Ireland * due to content licensing disputes between TV3 and ITV.

    * The ITV channels aren't officially on the Sky Ireland EPG and they can't be recorded by Sky+, but they are unofficially available through other channels due to them being FTA.

I think it is more do to with TV3s relationship with ITV more than a dispute. TV3 buy rights for ITV programming which earns them advertising revenue, ITV do well out of this since they don't have to have opt out ads on ITV for possible a smaller audience that what is archived on TV3 thus depleting TV3 ad revenue. And also ITV shareholding in TV3 from 2001 to 2006. Basically ITV and TV3 agree that ITV should as much as possible stay away from TV3s turf.

What is interesting is that at the end of the coronation street and emmerdale, the credits have u.tv, stv.tv and itv.com, surely TV3 could replace them with tv3.ie!!!!

Yes that is correct. TV3 have had first refusal on all ITV programmes ever since they were part-owned by Granada. This meant that other ITV channels were removed from NTL. They have tried to make 3e a version of ITV2 in recent months.

While ultimately failing during the past year to do it. 3e will now start showing the xtra shows from x-factor, BGT, IACGMOH etc. I wonder if they will do it.

I think they have. The extra shows from xfactor and BGT were shown on TV3 while the Im a celebrity companion show (with Mark Durden-Smith) was shown on Channel 6 last year before the rebrand to 3e.

Note that they reversed the decision to show the extra shows, IACGMOH was on before either Xfactor or BGT.

Heard over the weekend that UPC will be adding all the ITV's to there line up in the new year, does anybody know if there is any truth in this??

Lots of rumours and there was apparently some testing of ITV 2 - 4, it appears that the previous legal considerations of carrying the channels no longer applies, have to wait and see unless UPC make (or allow) a pre announcement

Any source for the legal constraints that applied to the channels? Because ITV3 was available for several years.

not sure whether it related to tv3 suing itv for broadcasting free to air on sky. they said they would bring them to the london high court but dont know if they ever did??? and if they do it will add a big plus to their dvr being able to record bbc 3 4 news and itv/utv 2-4..

But sure up to 2006 ITV owned 45% of TV3.

I just rang UPC and asked them and there are no rumors anymore the extra ITV channels are being added after Christmas this is 100% true.:)

I was also told they was a good few other channels being added also among them a food channel.

As regards the other channels the girl did not know the lineup.

Maybe somebody from UPC could spill the beans on the rest for all of us here?

I've also just heard another rumour that you can self install a HD Box at a cost of €60 instead of the €110 that it would cost for somebody from UPC to install it???... & from the 4th of Jan the monthly rental on a HD Box will go down to €5 a month..... the same as the standard recorder box at the moment.:D

Also heard there will be a special deal on ESPN - About €3 a month..... is this one a bit far fetched???

No that was ITV themselves TV3 had the rights to show the programs here I think.

Things have now changed as they do.

I'd leave "confirmed" out until its officially announced by Chorus NTL.

As you may recall until ITV and NTL fell out, viewers of the old NTL Ireland had ITV3 and Men and Motors. Hopefully the latter would also return if a deal is reached.

UPC sent out texts today and they confirmed it over the phone all the call center staff have been told.

I think it's safe to say it's confirmed.

    Anyway title changed.:)
