Would it be that they had a period of exclusivity that ends in jan 2010?

I heard 2013, but I can't be definate about that. They may just have the rights to show the ITV programmes until 2013.

Why are everyone so sure it will be Good Food and not the Food Network?

The Food Network is on the SKY EPG but not encrypted as per today’s date and knowing UPC they will most likely go for a FTV channel to add to the line up, and as The Food Network is bran spanking new to The UK/Ireland they would probably be more than happy to get the channel exposed to the max ;-)

about time on the itv channels,i cant believe people are getting excited about a food channell, surely fx,watch, sky arts would be better than this.I look forward to itv 4 during tour de france. no more sean kelly droons.

i hear you fx, watch, sky arts any of them would be better than a food channel.

The text message I received on the 22nd of Dec only said that ITV2, 3 and 4 would be added to the EPG after Christmas, BUT it didn't state which Christmas  Also, not a word about any other channels that the ITV line-up

What puzzles me is that UPC goes through the bother to send out a SMS but not giving a specific date as they (i.e. UPC) surely would know what date the channels would be released

Be grateful you got anything at all. We don't get text messages from Sky.

But you do tend to get notice of EPG changes, new channels, other changes etc eg Sky Sports Xtra renaming to Sky Sports 4 on Jan 6th

With UPC channels just disappear or move to the outer bounds of the EPG without notice - and lets not mention the Setanta debacle.

UPC have an 'info' channel yet don't use it and while sending a text is helpful the all important commencement date is missing - explain that one.

UPC have indicated that 2010 will see a big push to move analogue customers to digital (ironically offering their phone service as the bait - offering an equivalent to Sky might be better) if this push is to be successful they will have to greatly improve their customer service and customer interaction in my view.
I would also suggest they put the +1 channels back beside their parent channel and move buzz and smile in to the 800's...

    I amn't too worried about the+1, they could all could be put towards the end of the 100's e.g.112 E4, 113 Sky 1, 114 Sky 2, 116 BBC 3, 117 BBC 4, 118 More 4, 119 Gold, 120 Dave, 121 Living, 122 CBS, 123 Comedy Centra, 124 Comedy extr, 125 Virgin 1, 126 Sci - Fi, 127 Alibi, 170 - 199 +1 channels.

With Buzz and Smile TV moved to 803 and 804.

Can we make a complaint the BAI about were Buzz and Smile are on the EPG?

Not really a lot of difference between freesat and the basic upc tv package . Me thinks they will have to beef up the tv package ,broadband is good , the phone is only ok . One out three is not good .

I'm on the Digital Select package and didn't receive a text on this. Delighted if it is true but wondering if it applies to those on the Max package only? Or did anyone else on Select / Basic packages get notification?

Which seems very amateurish and not a very professional way of communicating changes and other amendments by UPC to their paying customers

I'm quite sure that most UPC subscribers would not even know about a site like this to go and get info regarding UPC changes...

UPC have an 'info' channel yet don't use it

The info channel is now showing updated offers - eg new 'family' pack which includes Max,Sky Sports and ESPN and new broadband offers and references a 'new' website 'fibrepower' which directs to the standard UPC website.

From the info channel there are now 3 Digital packages - value,Sports and Family, sports and family include Sky+ESPN , family costs €64 which is about 9.50 cheaper then the current max plus Sky & ESPN, in a later ad it refers to ESPN HD as being available as part of the ESPN premium package or as part of the Max package - is ESPN going to be part of the Max package and if so from when and will apply to existing customers ??

Only problem however is that the 'new' website does not have any of the new offers eg 5mb broadband or the 'family' pack.....

Are they planning to re-brand their broadband to fibrepower?

In a word Yes - its now eg 5mb fibrepower broadband, also refer to fibrepower as allowing VOD & 100mb in the future

Doesn't make much sense since Chelo is the brand in the rest of Europe.

Not so much anymore, in NL and PL they're referring to it as Fibre Power now

The primary brand is UPC, and they seem to be taking their sweet time making up their mind as to what they're using here :P Boxes say UPC (the new ones) website says UPC; logos on website, ads etc. say Chorus NTL, just pick one!

Unless maybe they're gonna finally switch when they introduce the Fibre Power thing. Someone speculated they were gonna do it once the network upgrades were pretty much finished, so now could be the time.

Is Sky Arts not a pay channel?

There prices/SPEEDS in NL seem very different to those here: -

    Country | 1MB* | 5MB* | 10MB | 20MB | 25MB | 30 | 60 | 90 | 120
    Ireland | 24 | 22 | 32 | 42 | N/A | N/A | N/A | N/A | N/A
    Netherlands | N/A | 18.50 | N/A | N/A | 25 | 30.50 | 40.50 | 50.50 | 70.50

*Older Customers moved up to 8MB

Can we expect the new ITV's after midnight I wonder (and I mean the midnight coming this evening, not the infinity UPC midnight :D)?

Technically its possible but I would take a guess that next week is more likely - 4th Jan is apparently the date of the new pricing for TV/Broadband/phone etc so might be tied into that.

Btw - where on the EPG ? Assuming that 119&121 will be used by theres ITV2,3&4 - 133?? or will another station be moved or will the gaps in the 500s be filled ??

So to sum up, Chorus are adding a food channel but are not adding the rest of the itvs or sky art?

anyone any idea of when we can expect the food channel? (either Food Network or Good Food - me, I'd prefer the Food Network, but that's cause I loved watching it when I was living in the US).

To sum it up from what I heard the rest of the ITV's are to be added, some food channel which I can't remember the name of and FX. Sky arts won't be added but if there is a demand for it I'm sure UPC would try add it to the line up.
