Same here in Bray ... ITV4 is on 136. Can't say the schedule exactly inspires me and I couldn't give a toss about ESPN either to be honest. No need to be adding anything to my favourites list any time soon anyway.

there are a few good films on these channels that's about all i'll be watching

the article in the Irish times states nine new channels

    itv2
    itv3
    itv4
    espn
    espn America
    ? (Maybe FX)
    ? (maybe Food channel)
    ?
    ?

    wonder what they will be

Fx and other channels are to be added later in January. It looks like Sky arts, sky three, and sky real lives will also be added later in January.

    ITV2 = 119

    ITV3 = 121

    ITV4 = 136

After reading the article I foolishly let my hopes get high!

And again a large dump is bestowed on MMDS customers with only ITV2 added and no free ESPN, second class customers using a second class service but paying same amount as the cable service!

So much for looking after rural / non cable customers!

Article says nothing about other companies just ESPN and ITV.

    ? CITV
    ? ITV2 +1
    ? ITV3 +1
    ? ITV4 +1

You should complain to the regulator ComReg.

UPC themselves say they are adding a food channel this month.
ESPN and ITV are the main news I think.

Some food channel and SkY Arts don't compare to free football plus ITV is not on Sky Ireland.

The ITV channels and free ESPN are something SKY don't offer and regards the other channels we are getting they are all on SKY so no big news.

Yeah done that last year also, still waiting on a reply. I'm guessing there wont be a reply.

Complaint was I had Setanta Sports, was paying full price even though was only provided with about half of available channels.

I've asked for help from Comreg but was ignored.

    What now, dont want Sky!

Either UPC have a very badly worded website or they have just done a huge price hike.

At the moment Digital Select is 27.50 no?
    Digital Plus - 5.00
    ESPN - 15.00
    Total: 47.50

I see UPC are advertising the following for 58 Euro now

    - ESPN
    - Digital Plus
    - Digital Select
    - Free Sky Sports for 2 months.

They claim that ESPN is now free but they've icnreased the price!

Or does it really mean that the first bills will be less as Sky Sports is free and will be 58/00 thereafter? Very badly worded nd confusing.

This is how I see it

    ESPN Free
    Select 28e
    Digital+ 2e
    Sky Sports 28e

So that is 58e per month ( 28e pm for 1st 2 months as sports free then 58e there after )

your talking about the Sports Fan pack which has sky sports and is 58 euro

they have the Select Extra with Digital+ pack for 32 euro which has no sky sports

The Sports Fan pack doesn't have Sky Sports, it only has it free for two months?
    http://www.upc.ie/television/sportsfanpack/

Note the little picture saying Sky Sports Free fo the first two months, I assume the 58 euro price refers to the price for the first two months, then it indicates after the first two months you will be paying for it, therefore the first two months will be a different price than the rest?

If it is 28 per month for the first two months then 58 why not simply say that it is 28 for the first two months and then 58 rather than not even mentioning the price difference?

Is the free ESPN for all customers or just for new customers?

  • Moderators, Motoring & Transport Moderators Posts: 11,837 Mod ✭✭✭✭devnull

Do we know what is going to be offered to existing customer in the way of possible price cuts and new deals as it says new customers only.

    I'm currently paying 103.99 for:
    10MB Broadband (32) + Digital Plus (5) + Sky Sports (30) + Digital Select (26.99) + ESPN (10) right now.

I see they are now offering for 95 Euro
15MB Broadband + Digital Plus HD + Sky Sports + ESPN + Digital Max + Home Phone + Anytime World

Will there be any chance for us existing customers to change our packages and get reductions, eg, will I still have to pay extra for ESPN even though new customers get it free?

The point is you know what you'll get for the price you pay and you're agreeing to pay it. They have to obligation to provide anything, of course if they did that no one would pay anything. Yes it's unfair, but not illegal.

Though I do strongly agree there should be a comprehensive list of channels, including whats available where, since right now you have to get the service before you know exactly what channels you'll get.

Ok so I just had a quick look there at the prices

I'm on Max with digital plus and a standard box via multiroom with 3mb broadband currently

    I'm paying as follows ........
    Max......... 34
    3mb........ 22
    Dig+......... 5
    Multiroom... 8.50

It says now that new customers & those upgrading can get Max with Dig + for 34......
    No 3mb anymore but 5mb fibrepower???.......22
    Mulitroom..... 5

Do I instantly get put onto this 5mb fibre power for the same price?
    Will my multiroom price drop?
Will I be able to get Digital Plus free now with my Max Package???

Any body any ideas on this? Will probably ring them when I get home just would rather not have to deal with 20 mins on hold

nope you should now also get ESPN for free

You don't really know if you were to move house to an MMDS area and moved your UPC account to that area and continued paying the same amount for a reduce service this would be unfair. UPC Cable and UPC MMDS should clearly be marketed as separate platforms with different offerings and prices which reflect their costs.

a bit confusing alright. looking at the terms and conditions of the offer it adds 20euro on if you dont order online etc.. but no mention of whether it is actually 58euro a month for the firs t2 months or not.. now maybe it might push sky into providing bbc3 etc on the epg but somehow i doubt it... article from the irish times today on it.

Odd, today I paid EUR 38.49 (monthly re-occurring) for the MAX and Digital+ but according to UPC the MAX pack including recording is EUR 34.00 so am I getting ripped off? I take it this was for January viewing. Maybe an update of the new prices for Feb?

Haven't checked if I have FX, ESPN or any of the ITV's either (as advertised on their MAX pack as per today) yet!

Just spoke to a really nice girl, in terms of Speed Increases to the Broadband, it will eventually be done automatically (could take a few months to do everyone), but if you want to request it right away you can go HERE:
    http://www.upc.ie/about_us/Price_Changes/Speed_Changes/

she even said herself she didn't know how anyone would actually find that! :)
