The rath of Joe Dalys has struck again. When I was in there dropping notes on pedals and shammy cream, I saw these puppies for €249 (may not be on most shopping lists but they're a bargain). As I had no way of getting them back to the train I had to let it go but I said if he could get them down to me I'd buy them. In the mean-time I've bought a car for €1k more than planned and have no money but one of my biggest flaws is that I'm good to my word. He called me today, he can get them down to me, I almost cried but I need them. Actually it's not all that bad because the amount of time I'm on the saddle means I'm not spending else where, actually Capt H, that was a damn fine deal, fair play, pat on the back. Surely all cycling purchases don't need justification?

I should have added, I find JDs excellent service and prices.

Fizik Cyrano seatpost just shipped. Should be <210g. Gave up on the USE idea after CRC failed to deliver and Tom warned me off the Cyclops clamp.

I know I said I was done with weight weenieism, but that's it now. Honestly.

With a hill TT coming up next week, why do I find that so hard to believe? I'm surprised that it hasn't already resulted in an orgy of number crunching and gram shaving.

I've sort of decided that <6.8kg is cheating.

    What'd I say?

    Lyle Lanley: What's it called?

    Patty+Selma: Monolink!

    Lyle Lanley: That's right! Monolink!

[crowd chants `Monolink' softly and rhythmically]

Miss Hoover: I hear those things are awfully loud...

Lyle Lanley: It glides as softly as a cloud.

Apu: Is there a chance the track could bend?

Lyle Lanley: Not on your life, my Hindu friend.

i bought them off wiggle. pearl izumi. i bought a pair a few weeks ago and they were such a great fit i went for another (slightly different style, different colour) they were my first ever cycle shorts and i've no interest in the lycra stuff, very happy with these. they are nice and comfy up to about 50 miles, after that its torture but i'm not sure if thats just me yet to toughen up, or if they are poor quality or if i need that chamois stuff (dont like the idea:eek:)

Lycra shorts are honestly far far more comfortable over long distance. There is a reason all serious cyclists wear them, and it's not for the aesthetics. If you can get over your hangups your arse will thank you for it.

You may feel odd at first, but aside from the comfort levels everyone else will think you are a Fred. So while people driving past might salute your modesty, the people who matter are the ones you are riding with. You work hard on pumping the legs, at least let them look good!

Plus, campag jersey with baggies! No, I can't allow it!

Pay no attention to these nancies. If baggy shorts with liners are comfortable, wear them.
