    Hi,

Here's one of my new purchases.

    110273.jpg

It's a CarryFreedom Y-Large trailer. Bought from Rob at Really Useful Bikes

It's for bringing the kids' bikes to the park, carrying 'stuff' and of course 'chariot racing' if I can find anyone brave enough!

Not that I need to justify it, at least not on here ;)

Is that from your deraileur hanger website? I used them last week, awesome! Arrived within a week I think, only problem is the hanger is black and my dropouts are silver.

Can't speak highly enough about that site though, should have bought 2!

    Cant wait to wear it.

Model in the pic is not me. I am a little better proportioned with better thighs.

It isn't actually. While derailleurhanger.com sells a vast range, they don't have my model. I got these ones from an Israeli crowd, pilo.co.il.

Looking forward to a return to crisp shifting. Why can't I ever fall on the left hand side?

I have the same. Would be interested to see what you rig up with the bikes, some people use a roof-rack type arrangement I believe. The general consensus is that our trailer is far superior to tomasrojo's one, which is the important thing.

TBH, they're kids 'bikes': a DoraTheExplorerTrike and a wooden no pedals job. So it will just be a case of strapping them on tight in whatever fashion works. As they get a bit bigger, I'll probably fashion a roof-rack type arrangement, or use a solution like this or this on the xtracycle (currently under build!)

More importantly, now that there's at least two large Y trailers in Dublin, when's the first 'chariot' race? Do you want to run it under Olympic or World Championship rules? (Singlespeed vs. geared 'horses', weighed charioteer vs. weighed team, etc).

Separately, what trailer does tomasrojo have? I have a BOB trailer too, so can't give out about that one yet ;).

He has one of these in which he carries a guitar. Damn hippie. I don't think he'd do very well in a chariot race. I have seen another Y-Frame around Sandyford incidentally.

I wouldn't fancy standing on that trailer. Cornering would be tough too. I assume all races will include cornering, rather than just a straight line 'sprint'.

That's not a bad price for them either. Pair of GP4000S tends towards €82 locally and that's before we get on to tubulars...

Tell me about it.. I never thought I would spend more on bike tyres than car tyres, untill I bought tubs.

I paid €62.90, CSS have a loyalty thing now also, that's twice they've come up trumps over CRC. If anyone has already ordered off them, they probably have a loyalty discount, all you need to do is log in and you'll see the loyalty price.

Probably would; good tyres are one of the few actually noticeable upgrades you can make to a bike. Probably the best bang for buck to be honest.

+1 on what blorg said. I had cheapo £10 wire bead Vittorias on over the winter and I only just put back on my 320TPI Vittoria Open Corsa Evo CX's which cost €25 (usually cost much more) and the difference is night and day. Fantastic road feel. They just feel so good, it's hard to believe you would notice such a difference (even the noise they make just rolling along is lovely :P)

I've been looking at tyres lately and i'd really appreciate if somebody could recommend me a 23mm road tyre for less than 20 euro on CRC. I'm not looking for a puncture resistant tyre. Something in suitable for dublin/wicklow roads around this time of the year. Whatever you'd use yourself on that budget. Thanks to anyone who takes the time to reply.

Bought the girlfriend this today, not at CSS, got it at my local bike shop. First bike she's had since she was 12. Plus a few days ago she signed up for the Wicklow 100.

    It's all falling into place.

I have Maxxis Columbiere in 25, they are also available in 23. Nice tyres I think for the money.

One of the cooler kits around mind I ask what it set you back and from what bike emporium you did business with?

I was feeling like a little spending today so I finished off this months budget on these I really hope they're comfy!

I also found out that I've memorised my cc number, probably through overuse. This cannot be a good thing.
