I've never gotten anything done in snakebite but I've only ever heard good things about the place. Gotten a few things done in celestial and was happy with them. The same with bodyshock but I'm not 100% sure if they do dermals. Snakebite is on abbey street (I think), celestial is in Stephens green shopping centre and bodyshock is in temple bar all in Dublin. Are you wondering how the microdermals work themselves?

Can't speak for the City Centre shops, but I use either a punch or a needle. Method depends on the location and the customer. Punches scar a little more than needles, although it must be remembered that there will be scarring once a microdermal is removed. Some people don't like the thoughts of a biopsy punch removing a piece of their flesh and so the needle is employed. Talk to whoever you choose and let them explain the procedure and their methods to you. Once you're comfortable with the procedure it will be a breeze. It takes me no longer to insert a dermal than it does to pierce an eyebrow.

    FANTASTIC..your a piercer??
Yeah I know about the methods and i've been told that it's alot more painfull when done witha needle.
I was looking to get three on my chest right down the middle, can they be done the same day?
Do you know if it's very expensive?
What do you do if you need to get a scan or xrays?

Sorry bout all the questions, your the first person that actually knows something about it.
    :):D

Ok 1st, the needle is slower than the punch and as such can hurt more. If people choose the needle it's usually because of fear of the punch and because they've already been pierced and so reckon they know what a needle feels like.
2nd Three piercing at once is possible. Eat well before hand, as having a high sugar level reduces the shock factor and minimises bleeding. Most bodies develop minor symptoms of shock when being tattooed or pierced hence the reason why most consent forms ask if you've eaten.
3rd Prices vary. I can't speak for what other studios charge and as this is an advice forum I hope you'll apprecitae that I don't list prices. Ring around and ask. It will also give you an opportunity to speak directly to the piercer and to have them answer any questions you may have.
Finally, in short, no problems once the jewellery is titanium.

this may be a bit of a dim question, but how small can lettering be on a tattoo to still look legible? there's a quote i've wanted tattood for quite a while now but its fairly long and i dont want too large a tattoo for my first! i have a feeling this could be a 'how long is a piece of string' question but if anyone can answer it it would be great! if it could be related to font sizes it'd help....i reckon from playing around drawing it myself by hand and on word i'd be happy with a font size 16 but dont know if it's possible!

    Hi guys, newbie here.

I have 3 small tattoos on my right arm that i got when i was 14, 18, 21. And low and behold i hate them now  I want to get a half sleeve to cover them up, plus i really want to get a sleeve tatt but right now i havent the money. The 3 tattoos are 50/50 black and colour. My question(s) : Recommended Artisit for cover up work? (I have two other tattoos that where done by noobs basically, they are terrible so my next tattoo i want to pay for the best i can get). How much for half sleeve, from wrist to elbow? (average size arms, maybe on the skinny side, but i am starting to keep in shape so hopefully by the time i have the money my arms will be a bit wider). I want my own unique tattoo aswell but not sure what to do, should i just speak to an artist about this? Thanks guys!

So I got my tongue pierced a little over 2 weeks ago an everything is fine except on the ball on the bottom under my tongue there's these little white things stuck on it. Kinda hard to describe but it's for all the world like little bits of dried on paint if that makes any sense. Now I wasn't drinking paint or anything but any ideas what they could be? I tried brushing it off gently with my toothbrush but that didn't work.

plaque will build up on the ball, just brush regularly and mouthwash and it should sort it :) if theres a huge build up just scrape it off :)

I have a fairly large tropical Flower tattoo on my upper back and want to get it extended, the same theme only more, also open to suggestions from artist.
Who are the better artists in Dublin now and especially ones who are good with flower designs and would be good at incorporating my first one in with the new one.
I got really lucky with my first tattoo and hope the new work will be as good.
All suggestions will be welcome as I dont want to walk into a random shop and hope for the best.confused.gif

Shouldn't feel any worse second time around. What can happen however, is you now know what is feels like so from the moment the clamp goes onto your tongue you can anticipate the pain and so you sometimes feel a pain that doesn't actually exist.

I got my tragus pierced last week, and have been cleaning it twice a day. It's after getting very sore over the last day. Is it anything to be worried about, or could it just be healing? It's kinda itchy, but painful as well.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19,183 ✭✭✭✭Will

Generally if it's itchy it means it's healing :) Also the big differences in air temperature lately aren't helping much either. Just stick to your cleaning regime. If you are very worried just head back into your piercer and they will tell you what's what.

Looking for a maori or tribal design for my leg like this one - http://coyel24.files.wordpress.com/2007/01/a-leg-tattoo.jpg

Anyone know the best place, willing to travel, that does tribal/maori designs?

hey. I want to get my first tattoo and I want it to be script. Does anyone know any artists in Dublin who specialise in script? Any advice?

  • Registered Users Posts: 119 ✭✭Teej

Sorry for dragging this up again but why can one not exercise after tattooing. Is it because

1 Salt water (sweat) prevents ink setting
    2 skin movement blurs line
    3 a knock inhibits healing
    4 some other reason

Know I worked out after my last one but not sure if I just got lucky.

My first tattoo (+15 years old ) looks manky - can a tattoo artist judge by looking at it why?( ie is it age, position, original artist). Would like my next to be symmetrical to it but if the position is inconducive to long term appearance I'll need to start again. Realise no one here can tell me why but dont want to look an eejit showing off me body if the experts cant tell why
