Just wondering has anybody a link to hi res sat image? I've seen it before on here but just can't remember.

It's a lovely sunny clear morning here (still -1.3c) and on the UK Met sat image you can just about make out the snow cover over Dublin and Wicklow - would be great to see a hi res sat image.

    Here you go:

-2 ground temp when not in direct sun in D16.
    Nice shiny roads everywhere
"Snow" clouds appearing over the Dublin mountains though...

So what's the story for today? Is Met.ie right in it's 'no snow' assessment?

Snowlying areas clearly visible on http://sat24.com/frame.php?html=view&country=gb
Mainly seems to be just Wicklow in Ireland.

Snow is falling here in Meath. It's widespread, but at the same time very localised - and falling in large icy chunks.

Best advised to be careful around buildings.

Today is the first day of these cold spells phase I & II that we're getting any significant snowfalls at all. There's one shower moving through after the other.

Only problem is that inbetween showers it is a lovely, spring like day out there and so it is like the showers never happened.

So, who says it can't snow with a clear sky :pac:

I reckon most of us are done with the snow now for this cold spell unless we get something on sunday.

Yes, in Sligo. But it's only lil showers here too ...the difference to the last few days is that we're getting them at all. Was dry as a bone here.

Today the showers are only spoiling the otherwise quite nice weather :D

had they come a few days ago they would have stuck.

Yeah fairly quiet at the moment, all the showers are around the north west. Although a rogue shower does seem to be heading towards the Mullingar direction.

Yes showers coming and going and not sticking, met eireann in their forecast took out the significant snowfall risk for sunday.

    Weather Advisory

    Issued at 15:30 Friday 6th February 2009

Very cold for the rest of the weekend with frosty nights.
Some snow showers in the north and northwest tonight and at first tomorrow.
A frontal system will move eastwards across the country during Saturday night and Sunday. The associated rain will turn to sleet or snow in places as it moves inland during Saturday night and early Sunday morning. This is possible almost anywhere away from the south and southeast coasts, but is most likely over Connacht, Ulster and the northern half of Leinster.
However, clearer weather will follow into the west and southwest later in the night, and will follow on to remaining areas during the day on Sunday, with some rise in temperatures for most parts.
Any lying snow near sea level should start to thaw.

Mullingar got a snow shower at 1600 - I want one!

Heard the Eagle speaking on the radio at lunchtime about the snow risk on Sunday - very slight (except for high ground and Ulster).

  • Registered Users Posts: 15,335 ✭✭✭✭Supercell

Christ if theres more snow on Sunday Annamoe and Roundwood will be buried under!
