Snowing heavy now in kilcock but nothing sticking yet!

Interesting radar shows a trail, it should snow there for a while.

It appears the Meto radar has decided to pack in just at the critical time:rolleyes:

Apparently its just light rain in Westmeath so the radar might be over doing the precip AND its not cold enough.

    Game up i reckon.

http://www.met.ie/latest/reports.asp is reporting snow in Ballyhaise at 12 - it was rain at 11. Maybe Birr and Mullingar which were reported as rain at 12 will turn to snow soon.

I think were getting a consensus that it is actually snowing places and the precip should arrive in Dublin very shortly.

Probably start of as drizzle/l. rain but could turn to snow.

    Light rain/Heavy rain?

    Started to drizzle here now.

I expect snow will only fall in moderate precip.

Same here, still really just drizzle though.

I think if we get some heavier pulses we will at least see some wet snow.

    Radar isn't a disaster either.

i think next 40 mins will see something judge by speed of radar.

DP at Dublin Airport has risen from -1 to 0. Presumably with the arrival of the precipitation.

I'm working in Dundrum facing the mountains - and they've disappeared into the drizzle/rain. Matches the raintoday radar exactly.

What is the highest Temperature that you can have snow?

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,778 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

    Sleet turning to wet snow.

  • Registered Users Posts: 15,944 ✭✭✭✭Villain

Naas had about 5 minutes of nice big snow flakes back to sleet now, if the Percipertation was heavy enough we would have snow

Yep those showers aren't even getting to the Midlands, another non-snow event.

We need a good old Easterly these NW winds are no good for the East,

or a polar low, or indeed just a properly northerly airstream would bring snow to many places. coming from this westerly source the sea just seems to modify the cold air too much resulting in a vexing mix of sleet, cold rain and crappy wet snow.
