I think you have to wait till the first for the offer to work
The 2 Free BD offer started on the 15th September so you should be able to do it now.

So can we 100% confirm its the 350 model. I was in Xtravision today and the shop was full of posters advertising the deal but the picture was the 300 model.

Yes it is, picked mine up earlier.

My receipt says the S350 and is due in on Monday. If anyone is interested or knows of anyone who might be, when I get mine I'll be selling Mamma Mia, Iron Man, Casino Royale, Batman Begins, Wall-E and most likely Hancock.

    I reckon €15 each for:
Mamma Mia, Iron Man, Wall-E and Hancock if I decide to sell it

and €12.50 each for Casino Royale (I'll have 2 copies of this one) and Batman Begins.

An official ad will be placed on Adverts.ie when I have mine in hand.

    Guys,

Can confirm that YES it's the BDP-S350 - just picked mine up within the hour and it's currently displaying WALL-E in all it's 1080/24p glory!

Can't register the player. The site won't load up. :(

Does it come with an HDMI cable. I can see myself getting this for Christmas and I will end up having no cable for it.

Just done mine there with the enclosed CD... once you register and fill out the survey it tells you the other 2 discs will be sent out within the next 28 days!

No HDMI cable included, but you can pick these up cheap now in Tesco or even in Xtravision.

I'm surprised no BR player comes with a HDMI cable. Don't most DVD players come with a scart lead.

There are other ways to connect a BD player other than HDMI. Component is one way.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,534 ✭✭✭Dman001

You still have to buy the cable though. What I'm wondering is why, in this day and age, don't they come with the cable. I'm sure loads of people will buy this, open it up on Christmas morning and and see there is no cable with it so they can't use it on Christmas morning.

There are cables included so it can be used until a HDMI cable can be obtained.

Personally as I can't use HDMI, I am glad that one is not included.

You mean component? Composite cant support HD.

    You are correct.

They only give you a composite cable. :(

I thought I'd post this deal here, it was already mentioned on BA a few days ago. Unlimited Blu Ray (and all DVDs) rentals for 99c till February 09 with Movie Star. See here:

Had trouble myself trying to register yesterday evening but it was fine this morning.
It's a great little unit, really brings the picture to life. It does a great job of upscaling DVDs too, they look almost HD compared to how my current system displays them and that aint a cheap unit.

I don't know where the previous people went. But I have rung my local Xtravision twice and both times the guy confirmed it's the OLDER Sony Blu-Ray Player BDPS300.
Sorry to disappoint everyone, that's last year's model and not as good as the BDPS350. Still a worthy offer for all those with HD TVs. Personally I'm going to wait

It is the S350 in the offer and it's what's in their gift guide from what I can remember. As I mentioned in a previous post, one guy tried to tell me that only Sony made Blu-Ray players so I wouldn't mind too much what you're told over the phone, pop in and check as the S300 was in a previous offer so maybe they're getting confused.

Is there any way of making these multi-region for DVDs?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,476 ✭✭✭✭Our man in Havana

Yes there is a way. Google is your friend.

I hope you're right Jip. I'll head down there on Monday and confirm. Hope I'm not wasting my time as there's no way I'm blowing money on a year old model(Discs included or not).. And yeah whoever told you Sony are the only ones who make Blu-Ray players is talking sh*&
