Don't want to drag this row on or anything but can I ask how people would feel about asking for a separate forum? We could ask for it in the hosted area and it would give us a lot more space instead of being confined to one massive thread. We could have separate recipe threads, people could post their own food diary if they wanted, stuff like that. There are loads of us here and we have been shown that we're not welcome in this forum outside of our own little area. We shouldn't have to put up with people directly quoting and mocking our posts, being accused of being in a cult and generally being insulted in threads in the main forum.

They've been thru that before...like the way boards see it...ww arent paying them to host a ww thread...so why should they....and one thread doesnt need a whole forum.

like in the technology forum...boards are getting paid by the various big companies to host specialised threads. they tried the seperate recipe thread few months back....and it was Disasterous...ppl were double posting...ppl didnt know what or where to post...it was head wrecking!

they will not give us a forum...which is fair enough to be honest...there is a hell of alot of activity in the ww section...thats alot of work to put on them...when they arent being paid.

Hi all, I have been awol since Friday, but have just caught up on the thread.. well done on all the losses and for those who didnt lose, keep at it!

Anyway I have been soooo bad over the last fortnight I really have, last weekend in particular, I drank like a bloody fish! I missed ww last week and I think psychologically I felt I had a free reign! I am not proud of myself but I do think I needed it to be honest.

I am back on track now, I hope.. and have WW tomorrow so will have to face the music. I am trying to track back what I have eaten, (to torture myself me thinks!) anyway does anyway know how many pp are in a cheese burger and medium fries in Mac Donalds? I have tried and tried to find the link that was posted here and cannot find it...I think I'm still hungover from Saturday night!!!

I usually have the chicken burger & fries and give it 21pp so think you be safe enough with 20.

I really need a lift guys and gals. I haven't posted properly since last week cos I didn't want to be bringing my negativity on here but I just don't know what is wrong this week. Like I have no idea weight wise if I have gained or not cos I don't WI til Thursday but I just feel down. I have been keeping on track and exercising. I start a new job on Monday and have to wear suits which I hate so went shopping for stuff last night and I am just not noticing any changes with my body even though I have lost about 20lbs. I just couldn't find anything to suit my shape, leg length, colour ugghhhh. Hate shopping, clothes do not make me feel good! They are my enemy. :( Sorry guys don't have anyone else to say it to.

Thats right 2 slices for 3pp,what i use for bacon and cabbage is back bacon get your butcher to cut and roll a piece for you, every 25g of back bacon is 1pp so 250g for your dinner would be 10pp.hopes this helps

Well having it hosted is a bit different as its not really an "official boards forum". Its seen as something separate, for example theres an Anna Livia FM forum. I do think there are enough people to warrant it tbh. Just look at how fast this thread moves. There could be a general "how was your day" thread, a "how many points in" thread, recipe threads, excercise threads and individual food diaries.

Personally I don't like having to trawl through a massive thread to find recipes. The search function on this site isn't great at the moment so its a bit of a pain.

As for modding it, if it's hosted it would be modded by one of the regulars. Being a hosted mod isn't the same as being a normal mod. Also, modding is only required if theres an issue really, which I can't see being an issue really.

We could even ask for it to be private and have a link from this forum and have it linked in our own sigs so people know where it is.

Anyway, it's only a suggestion. I despise the attitude prevalent in this forum as a whole and I'm seriously unimpressed with the quoting that has gone on in that thread. That would not be acceptable anywhere else on boards. We're not welcome here.

Hey everyone hope ye are well, congrats on the losses - some fab ones especially the 50lbs gone!! Fantastic!

Just wanted to pop in & say hello, I'm still sick in fact I'm worse than last wk & had to see the dr yesterday who put me on stronger anti B's & ponstan to try rid myself of this strep he also insisted on 4 days off work... I'm in bits no lie my poor mouth is full of mouth ulcers & my throat is so swollen I'm unable to eat anything. I ate 12 points on sat & only 6 on Sunday :(:( & that was mainly down to ice cream which I do not like & cannot usually eat because of my lactose intolerance but 'had' to eat something before my drugs. I managed some soup today which is good but again only coming in at 14pp.

Re that thread.... I have been following that & others for quite a while. Some of them do get up my nose but that said I do think there were some valid points raised in it ( do not shoot me please!) I am following WW yes & it's working for me & I know it will continue to work for me but only because I eat a balance of nutrionally sound food, exercise alot & for me it's a lifestyle change not a diet & I've not cut food groups out of my diet entirely so for me it's easier to maintain once I get to goal.

I don't believe I'm in a cult but I do believe that WW is a money making racket when it comes to the bullsh1t food products & sugar laden 'snacks' it's trying to offload for the most part none if that is healthy. But let's be fair here WW is not advocating meal replacement of 'real nutrient rich food' with a WW ready meal followed my a ww dessert & 3 WW chocolate bars .... For sure there are ppl out there doing that but they are being lazy looking for a quick fix & are going to be the 90% who put the weight back on. There is a gap in the Market for that & WW has filled that 'gap' by offering the products ( or at least licensing their brand name to makers of those products)

The vast majority of ppl in this thread eat well, exercise well & are of the right frame of mind but I do sometimes read posts on this thread & think to myself WTF x is deluding themselves with that kind of logic. But you know what it's their journey if they want to do that, it's THEIR business, I'm not going to agree with them, I'm on my journey.

I'm never going to use low cal spray oil, I'll always use olive oil & extra virgin OO in my salads, I'll continue to eat avocados, salmon & fresh tuna, 70% dark chocolate & full fat cheese if & when I want it & you know what WW allows me to do that!

The posters in the other thread make an assumption that most on WW is either a fat person with a sugar addiction or a no clue how to eat nutrionally sound fat person in a cult. Frankly I don't give a fcuk what they think & none of ye should either I agree 100% that the quoting of ppl from this thread Into that thread was a low, bitchy sad move to prove a point & I don't agree with it. But that said I can see how someone who probably has to read every single post that goes up on this board can sometimes feel like hitting their head off a wall with some of the 'advice' that gets doled out on here.

I'm not sticking up for them I just see both points of view. I would suggest that those who don't know much about nutrition start looking into it to prepare themselves for maintenance I would also suggest that they read the charter.

I'm sorry for how long winded my post is I'm not trying to offend anybody but I did want my own pov here too & as the other thread is locked I said I'd post here.

We're all on our own journey & the choices we make are our own, our mistakes are our own & no program is 100% going to work unless you follow it to the letter - life is for living & personally we could all do with a little bit of sugar, a little full fat, & a better body to live that life to the full! Some ppl may be happy on a protien & veg only diet I'm not one of them but that's there choice to make as is my way my choice!

I would also say that there are ppl who are in WW who are not realistic who will work the program & get to goal & bang 3 yrs down the track end up heavier than before. But that's not the programs fault that's the person themself it's up to everyone to educate themselves about food not just

God Bless all and thanks for the help ....

yes we do sometimes post recepies for something not very healthy but we do so in the spirit of having a life and sometimes we like to cook food to share with familly and friends and also like to know how to fit in in to our programme the way we have chosen to lose our weight

Discussing weight loss and the ways to go about it is always going to be a rather spirited topic, primarily because this isn't just some new project that people are embarking on, it's their lives, their health, their emotions their well being. I can completely understand the increasing defensiveness on both sides of the camp here.

I have to make a few points clear though.

    1. Pulling posts from other threads with the explicit purpose of poking fun at them is incredibly uncool.

    2. Outside of the forum they Moderate Mods are just posters, they are held to the same rules and regulations as anyone else. To those who are giving out that a Mod should "know better" well that doesn't apply because unless they have "Nutrition and Diet" on their forum list in here they're just the same as you.

    3. If you don't agree with a weight-loss plan there's a very fine line between constructive criticism and condescending/ patronising discussion. You can argue against a plan but at the end of the day if people don't want to listen they won't. Bullying people into your point of view will only create ill-will amongst posters.

    4. This forum is first and foremost about healthy eating. It doesn't matter what plan is being discussed if the method by which the goals are reached are unhealthy, disordered or particularly worrisome then we will have no choice but to delete posts and possibly ban certain topics.

    5. The WeightWatchers thread is tolerated by the Mods, not supported by them. It's there simply by virtue of the volume of posters who use it, not because it's deemed an inherently healthy way to eat. It is quite possible to eat welll using the WW system but it now looks like a full review will have to be done of the WW thread and if it shows signs of supporting unhealthy behaviours on the part of its users then we will have no choice but to shut it down and ban WW as a topic.

I'm all for animated and enthusiastic discussion about nutrition and diet topics, but folks you have to remember that there is no perfect way to go about it. There is however a blatantly unhealthy way to go about it and if there is strong evidence to suggest that this forum is starting to support that then this will have to be addressed.

I'm afraid this is something that I'll have to talk about with the other Mods and isn't quite over just yet. I'll re-open it for now though and welcome all - civil - discussion.

I'd suggest difflam gargle 20 mins before you eat i've had tonsilllitis twice in the past 2 months and found it really helped, if you don't eat before taking those antibiotics you're poor tummy will be in bits. i managed spagetti hoops with this. hope you're feeling better soon

I agree with you 100%. I tend to avoid the ww products unless I'm stuck at lunch and thats a rarity. I find the products too expensive for a start. That being said, I have never had any weight watchers products pushed at any of my meetings. Never. Our leader said in my very first meeting "The only thing I'll advise you to buy from WW is the electronic calculator. I don't push the foods because its about teaching people about nutrition and healthy eating, not biscuits and crisps." What annoys me though about those threads and the attitudes presented in them, is that those posters seem to think that if you mention any sort of chocolate/etc then thats what you're at. You're spending all your points on junk food and not eating healthily. Latching on to the posts of a few who mention "unhealthy" foods and tarring us all with the same brush isn't fair. Its a complete lack of knowledge about what WW actually tries to promote.

when i stick to the plan and follow it Properly....i lose weight....my BMI comes down, i lose inches, i sleep better, have more energy, my skin and hair are healthier.

We are aware junk food is bad for us...we talk about dessert recipes as a...lesser of two evils. Alot of posters on here have young kids, so things like the mars bar cakes would be of benefit to some posters trying to host kiddie parties .who made need junk food for the kids....and yes those ppl may be tempted to eat that junk...so at least with pointed recipes...they have a better chance of keeping track of what they are eating.....

They arent promoting....eat junk to lose weight....they are just sharing recipes that may be of use to people...

But that's not the programs fault that's the person themself it's up to everyone to educate themselves about food not just
i agree with every point you have made and well said,i am one of the people who lost the weight and put it back on my fault not ww.
I used the other forum for 4 months last year and posted a food diary there till the mods stooped people from doing so,i did learn so much about food and
nutritional what i should eat.I just went back to ww for the support and weigh ins and that's why i find this thread so helpful.I to use olive oil and i eat my nuts and seeds and full milk.I know this time when i lose the weight i will keep it off because i have learned about food and that is the only way forward for people who want to maintain there weight loss.I have tried some of the new ww food some of it nice but i do try yo eat fresh home made food 90% of the time.
There is a lot to learn from both threads and i would recommend the people to read through that thread.I did find some of recent posts there very condescending and i felt they were mocking certain posts which is unfair.

Sorry to have to pull you up on this but why would Mars Bar Cakes be of benefit to Kids? Why do you 'need' junk fodd for kids? Is this not the type of menatality that gets people to be overweight in the first place?

Last thing I'm going to say on the whole thing:

I'd be very sad if this thread got closed. It's a fantastic resource and offers great support for people.

We're all here for the same reason. In a lot of cases it takes a lot of guts to stand up and say 'yes, I'm overweight', not to mind doing something about it.

To echo Kay_80, no, WW is not perfect...but as I've said before it's a damn good starting point. Of course if you stop following the plan you're more likely to gain weight. If you do Atkins for a year then start stuffing your face full of bread, what do you thinks going to happen?!

The WW products can be there to get people out of a hole, as was said if you're stuck for lunch. The plan is not about only eating WW products.

I can also see where all the other posters are coming from, I understand some diets work for some and not others, for example I did a low carb for about 2 weeks over a year ago and ended up passing out at work - yes that was probably my fault in some way, but still. I didn't like it. I like Weight Watchers, I'm losing weight on it and at the end of the day that's what I'm there for.

I should be able to follow whatever plan I choose and not be made fun of or be told that its crap and doesn't work. It's my choice, let me get on with my diet and you get on with yours.

It's an emotional topic, can be a sore spot for people, if someone starts ridiculing you for doing it then it is going to invoke emotional responses, and if that causes the loss of a support and resource that we all use, that is assisting us, then I will be very very disappointed.

Sorry for the long post :P
