    My Movie suggestions-

90s Dracula and Frankenstein. (francis ford coppola version and kenneth branagh versions) i likes em, and they arent that spooky :p

*purchases pink shirt and yellow pants*

Dracula was fairly good, almost ruined by Keanu's 'performance'.
Frankenstein on the other hand... blergh. How the hell did he learn to read anyway?

My Halowe'en movie pic is EVENT HORIZON. That and John Carpenter's The Thing.

I agree with the thing. Event horizon though?! For halloween?! ;)

Can we suggest Halloween costumes? I was thinking Harley Quinn from 'Batman' would be cool.

Every day is a good day to have
    all hell literally break lose
    .

The original Alien and also Aliens (to a lesser extent Alien3) are all good choices too.

Feeling more light hearted? Go for Fright Night. Picked up a boxed set with that John Carpenter's Vampires and BS' Dracula for €9 in Golden Disks.

Speaking of light hearted, seek out Dracula: Dead And Loving It.

Gotta agree with nerin on this one. Event Horizon, although an awesome film, does not qualify as a Halloween flick to me.

Galva, I think you are getting mixed up with sci-fi scary movies and what Halloween is all about. There are loads of freaky sci-fi movies, but they aren't Halloween movies imo.

Now the Lost Boys, THAT'S a Halloween flick!

I cant see how its less a Haloween film than The Thing.

Agreed. ive been avoiding the sequel..

Check out near Dark, arguably the best vampire film ever made. Was a box office flop though, overlooked in favour of the more MTV friendly Lost Boys which came out around the same time.

I'm dressing up as Francis Whitman from The Darjeeling Limited.

    owen_blog_10.jpg

If I end up going somewhere that requires dressing up ofc.

Everyone seems to love Harley Quinn!:) Now, there's just the small problem of making the costume...

Halloween is about the super-natural; ghosts, withches, spirits, ghouls, all that kinda stuff. Sci-fi is about aliens, technology gone mad, and the likes.

I might be wrong, but that's the way I've always classified the two anyway

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,816 ✭✭✭Acacia

Hocus Pocus- best Halloween film ever. And it features a reasonably good-looking Sarah Jessica Parker.

    i love hocus pocus

used to scare me sideways though

a few years ago wanted to get all scared so me and a friend watched carrie.it was actually the funniest filim id seen in ages

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,816 ✭✭✭Acacia

Yeah, it's the same with 'Sleepy Hollow' or 'Nightmare Before Christmas'. They seem really scary when you're a kid, but when you watch them now, they're hilarious.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,484 ✭✭✭Aisling(",)

sleepy hollow always just seemed kinda weird to me.
i get scared at very unscary films though.was watching ghost ship during the week with my mam and dad and got scared and screamed and they spent around half an hour laighing at me

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,817 ✭✭✭✭Dord

    Candy apples and razor blades
Little dead are soon in graves
    I remember halloween

    This day anything goes
    Burning bodies hanging from poles
    I remember

    HALLLOOOWWWWEEEENNNN, HALLLOWWWWEEEEEEENNN, HALLOOWWEEEEENNN!!!

    :D

Any suggestions for a halloween costume? I'm finding it hard thinking of something that would go with a beard (I'm not shaving it again!)

    What is more supernatural than
Hell? They literally go to hell in Event Horizon

    Wow, that movie is old!

If anyone has a copy of Zombies Ate My Neigbours on either super Nintendo or Megadrive I highly suggest dusting it off. Great fun.

I agree with the 'Simpsons' Halloween specials, always good! Though I remember waiting for some good spooky shows one Halloween night when I was a kid, but RTE, in their infinite wisdom, had to decided to show three hours of horse-racing instead...that sucked.

Yeah, tv is fairly crap for Halloween stuff, especially the Irish channels with their constant re-runs of 'Casper, the Friendly Ghost' or 'The Blair Witch Project'. I shall be stocking up on dvds myself. :) The Horrorthon in the IFI looks good too.

I've only seen the remake by Rob Zombie, and I really like it. Is the original one better though?
