For all those not on the berget forms..
The New game area is NOW 100 % complete. It will be the same area as last year but with som extra land and new base locations. Only NATO base will stay the same. The gamearea map is being created as we speak and will be posted as soon it is ready.

This is the GPS locations to Checkin and Safezone: N 62.618502° S 17.982211°

As they say the same area as last year and same base location For NATO. So the below google map will show you where your home will be for the four days.

Well, when I booked my flight and added my 'speical baggage' which I paid 18E each way for, I was under the reasonable assumption that it gave me a seperate baggage allowance for my gun-case and it was due to their wording that I assumed that.
IE - 20kg checked in normal baggage in hold + 8Kg baggage in cabin + 15Kg for special baggage.

"Sporting equipment baggage is not a part of the free baggage allowance in Economy class. This applies to both weight and piece concept."
That's directly from the 'special baggage' jargon. And makes it pretty clear in my view.

So as far as I'm concerned, I'll be taking my 3 seperate baggage allowances, and if they try to charge me extra, I'll be refusing and arguing. If they then refuse to allow me on the flight, I'll pay the excess baggage under protest and take it up with my solicitor when I return. :)

I agree with the way you read it, the feedback I have from my other frequent travellers is the same as the above. (as per my other post, they specifically talk about the "small" sport item having an allowance of 15kg)

I found it pretty difficult for Berget 5 on a Ryanair flight. And that was with no gun.
Bear in mind that a lot of us will also be staying in Stockholm for a day or two on either side of Berget. So we'll be there for 8 days in total. That means a few extra clothing items and other supplies are, well, maybe not ESSENTIAL, but highly desirable.
And with over 30 of us heading over from Ireland, it would be nice for a few of us to be able to take a 2nd gun as a spare for ourselves or others in our group.

Yeah its not easy; but smart planning is always useful. I find its more getting everything in my bag then it is keeping the weight down (pack everything as tightly as possible, compress what can be compressed, dont leave voids, fill them with socks/underwear etc)

    ASI Casper wrote: »
Kris, do you know of any decent camping / airsoft / military shops in Stockholm that do decent rations?

There is a place in central Stockholm that sells civilian versions of the US MRE, they are not as good as the real deal, but in a pinch will do. There are also plenty of nature/camping stores that will sell the preferred Swedish style camping food, freeze dried stuff. I will get back with some links. Alternatively if anyone wants to post anything, you could send it to me and I will take it up with me. (please communicate with me before hand if anyone wants to take this option, so i do not over commit when it comes to how much I can cram in my vehicle.

    Lastly:
    SAS
    Dympna Dwyer
    Station Manager Mezzanine Level
    Main Terminal Building
    Dublin Airport
    Co. Dublin dympna.dwyer@sas.dk
    01 8447944
    087 2371596
    01 8444327

If all goes to hell you can always try and escalate.

Another tip that may be obvious to some, but not to others for saving both space & weight is to wear your boots for the flight and keep a small pair of light shoes / trainers in your bag, not the other way around! You can change into the more comfortable footwear when you're out of the airport.

    Top Tip, Casper. Thanks!

i've no problem doing a batch order on the armabands, but we are running out of time. i did get some as samples so i have a few blank ones,
it only takes a a few days for them to arrive, but i dont know how long it will take to get a dozen or 2 embroidered before they ship them. hopefully we will have the id's soon

Do they have to be embroidered? Would screen/transfer printing suffice?

    Edit: According to the rules
You will have to bring/create your own armband. When constructing your own armband, it must be 11 cm (4,3 inch) wide and have your induvidual teamnumber visable in black.

Transfer prints might be easier/cheaper than embroidery.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,045 ✭✭✭OzCam

The rules don't specify embroidery, I'm guessing that it's actually easier to do for individual numbers than silk screening. I'm subject to correction on this of course. I've just sent an email to our subdued tricolour supplier asking for a quotation.

If necessary, we can just get plain blue armbands and put the numbers on ourselves with a permanent or drycleaning marker.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭kdouglas

I was thinking I might have a contact who can put together armbands with velcro closures on them and then it would be a relatively simple matter to use iron-on transfers that can be printed in a standard home printer.

Edit: Just had a look, I can probably source these.
Blue armband (pretty good material too, not cheap stuff) with velcro and iron on transfer numbers printed and affixed, it'd be about 5 or 6 euro per armband.
If anyone is interested, let me know.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,045 ✭✭✭OzCam

My contact is quoting a tenner for the armbands, which I think is more than most people think they're worth. Can you liase with skatedude to see whether your Irish supplier can do them cheaper than the one in England?

(I made a list of the Irish platoon numbers if you want them, you don't need to sort through the whole list.)

Just in case anyone missed them, there are some changes to the rules...
The gamerules have been updated for Berget 7, Three Kings.

We have mainly made some minor linguistic clarifications. Changes for gameplay are listed below:

    * Only one (1) Medic heal is allowed before players have to go respawn.
    * Officers (platoon leader or above) and some LARPs have double respawn time.
    * Rule added for missiles, mortars and bombs.

The updated rules can be found here: http://www.berget-events.com/?page=rulesterms&cat=1

Nice to actually put some faces to names from those pics :)

I am seriously in over drive mode for this, I seriously cannot wait.

Btw what is the ACTUAL plan for us being there. There is obviously the 5 days of absolute slaughter and pillaging im going to reign on everyone, but theres the R&R days. Just a bit confused as to what days we have off etc...was contemplating throwing the misses on a flight and spending the free days with her....then sneaking her into the site in my storm case and set her loose :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 207 ✭✭Hunter1100

    Days off
There are no days off as far as I know, last year the longest period off was about 6 hours if I remember correctly. Not as bad as it sounds considering there is base defence aswell which isnt very a very physically active job

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,128 ✭✭✭✭TheDoc

    I've 8 days in Sweden.....the game is 5 days?

Unless I've been assigned on a special op taking 8 days of my time, I'm pretty sure theres a group of us with 3 days to knock around with. :)

Checked with ryanair there its 91 euro to fly her out for two nights...she can wait till I get home to be honest.

    EDIT:

Just had lemming give me link to the hotel we are getting shacked up in, sweet jesus, place looks fantastic. Just to make everyone aware of the services.

    Concierge Service
    Car Rental Desk
    Casino
    Gift Shop
    24-Hour Business Center
    Business Center

Win.....Fay why are you not coming on this trip...why o whay.. I'm taking nominations for drinking/slash gambling buddy. Must be male, sound, good craic and under no circumstances tell me when I've had enough.

Sorry I forgot some of the group are going over early

5 days of slaugher and pillaging might not go down too well with the locals Doc, as the game only lasts for 3 days. ;P

Sunday - Arrive Sweden @ 4:50pm. Stay in Sheraton hotel.
Monday - R&R day. Stay in Sheraton hotel.
Tuesday - Train to game site @ 12.30pm. Staying on-site.
    Wednesday - Game starts @ 10pm.
    Thursday - Game all day.
    Friday - Game all day.
Saturday - Game ends @ 8pm. Nato victory party starts at 9pm and ends 3am.
Sunday - Train back to Stockholm @ 2:11pm. Arrive back in Stockholm @ 5:30pm. Staying at Sheraton.
    Monday - Flight home @ 9:50am.

Only 1 full day of R&R in Stockholm. :(

    Casino
Most bars in Sweden have a little gambling area of some sort. Usually blackjack if I remember right.
Gambling & drinking is clearly the 2nd worst combination ever though. Electricity & water being the 1st.

k, armband ids have been posted in the nato section, but ffs, couldnt they have posted them in order of your ticket id, takes bloody ages to search.

K, the price for a plain armband is 5 quid, but its nearly 12 quid for them numbered, so i think plain will do and a black marker.

    Anyone who wants armbands from me I need the following details;

    Name:
    Address:
    Armband ID:

    Email above to armbands@airsofthacks.com
(Note: Im just using this as a convenient email address, this is not an airsofthacks product and is being supplied at cost price)

Once I have a definite number on who wants them I'll be asking for paypal payment to cover Cost of armband + printing numbers + postage (55c stamp and an envelope :) ) + paypal fees. It should work out hopefully no more than 6 euro, closer to 5 if I can.

I will need paypal payment before I place the order, so i'm putting a deadline of this Friday (22nd) on these, and will subsequently need payment by Monday 25th.

No "they could not", try using "control+f" it does amazing things. And thank you for posting peoples ticketID's outside of the NATO forum.

I have a list of Irish Platoon ID numbers assembled already (as I have posted on this thread previously). I'll send it to KD in a minute this evening.

I suggest that we could all collect our armbands at the airport to save postage as we're almost all on the same flight.
