Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You could always hold off till January

Don't think you'd have to pay that much back. If you're due to change in July it shouldn't be as bad as 80%.

When you ring Monaghan enquire how much you'd be liable for.

I did ring them only 2 weeks ago.. I asked if i were to change even a couple of weeks before the due date and was told 80%.. Standard penalty I think.

Rang the guy who I bought the Fiesta from, and he told me that the date I bought the car from him was 21st June 2008. So I don't have too long to wait until I can change!! Woohoo

I drove a Golf GTI with DSG and it was head and shoulders above the manual. Best autobox I've driven

Car has been registered and checked over!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm picking my baby up tomorrow!! Can't wait to get my grubby little hands on it!

From following the original thread, I remember you buying this car, (the date you picked it up is on the thread on this post), hard to believe nearly 2 years has gone by so quickly!

Best of luck with your newer car!

I know!!! TBH, while the Fiesta was a grand car to drive, the cabin space was/is a little bit pokey..... I have the thing scratched to bits from the wheelchair. Have been told by a mate who is also a wheelchair user, and has a Golf, that there is loads of space in them.

I sat in one myself a couple of weeks ago, and couldn't believe the amount of space.

The Fiesta is a supermini while the Golf is a compact hatchback from the next class up, it was always going to be roomier than the Fiesta.

Have you looked at the Mitsubishi Lancer, it comes in automatic has a 1.5 petrol engine, the boot is huge and has a bluetooth kit as standard, very handy for the phone as you can make and take calls while in the car.

If you are interested let me know and I can give you some figures as I bought one just recently!

    Feshty 1.25 Zetec Manual
Performance: maximum speed (mph): 104, maximum speed (km/h): 168 and acceleration 0-62 mph (secs): 13.3
    Power: 60 kW , 82 HP EEC @ 5,800 rpm; , 114 Nm @ 4,200 rpm

    Golf 1.2 Tsi Manual
Performance: maximum speed (mph): 118, maximum speed (km/h): 190 and acceleration 0-62 mph (secs): 10.5
    Power: 77 kW , 105 HP EEC @ 5,000 rpm; , 175 Nm @ 1,550 rpm

It will feel like an F1 car compared to Feshty :D

I know I baesd both on manual but the difference should be similar in Auto

Sorry I should have said it is a 5 door but I was thinking as it is a saloon and has a longer body so the doors are longer/wider it might be worth a look.

They also have: Mitsubishi Colt MY09 3 doors 1.3L AUTO Invite 95hp Petrol Automatic - I haven't tried this car just saw it as an option when I was shopping around, I opted for the Lancer.

Order it now...then ask for delivery around then and problem solved.

AFAIK it can take up to 3 months for a factory order

Probably one is valuing your current car lower/giving you more discount/has a buyer interested/has a car in stock...go with lower obviously. That's a nice cost to change to be honest considering what you're getting in return:)

What colour spec did you go for in the end out of interest?

I'm going for "United Grey", and the spec I am going for is the "Comfortline" model.

I also want the dealer to include the "Light & Vision" pack. It takes me longer to get in/out of my car(because I have to load/unload my wheelchair), so I want this for safety reasons in poorly lit/strange places.

That'll be nice. I have a Leon with around the same power as the Golf and it's fine for everyday. But looking more closely at the way the Golf develops it's torque it should be a nice drive

Hell no, the old 1.6 8v.

~ same power as the 1.2 now. Think it's the replacement finally for the 1.6. The 1.4tsi is nice enough in them though

    Explain please?

The 1.6 has 102 brake at 5600 rpm and 109 lb/ft torque at 3800 rpm.
The 1.2 has 105 brake at 5000 rpm and 129 lb/ft torque at 1550-4100 rpm.

Basically it has peak torque and power lower and wider it would seem in the rev range. That will make it much more responsive
