So out of " well I've tested for this long I may as well use the last test in the box" I tested this morning and after now fewer than 11 days of testing and having a flashing face up popped a strong solid full on smiley face this morning.
Seems my ovaries decided to let go of an egg at last.

Luckily we were both awake super early for some reason and so put the morning to good use.

The two week wait is a bitch isn't it? :( Also I'm not even sure when and where the two weeks being and end now.
My date of actual ovulation, when it finally arrived, has gotten me all confused as to when my period should arrive. It was / is due on Saturday but that was based on my ovulating on Saturday the 26th of September not Saturday October 3rd as happened in the end.

So if my period doesn't arrive on Saturday I'm wary about getting my hopes up as it might just be late. Also don't want to spend (must repeat this a LOT:o) money on a pregnancy test that ends up being a waste of money.

Yep!!! The 2 week wait is the worse.

I got some cheap tests on line, they are like thin strips. The clinic said the GP's use the same (I think I got 15 - 20 for €10.

    Best of luck though xxx

I am theoretically on the 2 week wait at the moment but I have no expectation of success so it is not bothering me. Not sure if this is a good or a bad thing!

I figure if by some miracle I get pregnant then that will be fantastic, but if it hasn't worked for the last 30 or so months then it is unlikely to work this month ;-)

I'm waiting for Friday to start our two week wait after implantation. My acupuncturist just called, she wants me to go to her before and after the transfer. I can't believe it is only three days away - eek!!!!!

I tested positive (x2) this morning. Period it due until tomorrow but I was peeing like a racehorse yesterday and just thought maybe maybe.
Had an old (out of date) cheapie that I used the morning and it gave a BFP. Not trusting it I bought a digital one and it gave a BFP with not FMU just now too.

I'm really happy and yet after the miscarriage in July scared to get my hopes up too.

    Brilliant news! Congratulations :p:p

I think none of us relax til after the dreaded ''12 week wait' even if we haven't had to suffer a recent loss like you have. But miscarriages are very common and many many people have a miss and then have a baby, you've no reason to think you would suffer from recurrent mc considering your first pregnancy was successful xx

I know it's so hard not too but try not to worry. I had a mc last April and a perfectly healthy baby this March!

    Enjoy the excellent news! :)

This time around I used the clear blue OPKs. They're expensive but I thought I'd give it a go for a few cycles. After the miscsrriage I really wanted to get back on track with understanding my cycle.
I started using them this time around 2 weeks before my period was due. I was a day or two early getting started and then it ended up being a peculiar cycle given how long I got flashing smiley faces for. The kit suggested stopping with the tests after 9 days of that reading but I kept going just to see more than anything.
Then finally on day 11 (iirc) I got the full on solid smiley face and now I'm pregnant.

I still can't quite believe it.

Thanks penny . I might give it another month to see does my cycle settle . I've only had two periods since having my lo and shes 9 months but I'm still breastfeeding so I know that can throw things off and slow down the process.

Happy and healthy 9 months to you !

Hi everyone, new to this group as we've Been trying now for nearly a year but no joy, so beginning to start getting bit worried. Not fully ready to go down route of testing us out in case it adds more stress and pressure, but may have to. I'm just wondering if we're just not having sex enough, so if anyone doesn't mind answering. How often is recommended? For us, it's around 5-7 times a month. my cycle is generally around 26 days and we try not to go anymore than 3 days but maybe it's not enough. No idea when I ovulate as haven't found OPK great so we aim for every 2-3 days. Work and other things sometimes get in the way. I read on one post that couple were having sex 5-8 times a week. Is that the norm? If so, we're way off.

What exactly about OPKs didn't work for you? Which ones did you try?

5-8 times a week? Fair play to them for their enthusiasm :-)
It took us a year when ttc on our little girl (now almost 14 months old). We had just gotten to the stage of being tested by the gp and the results came back fine. He said to go about our business and if nothing happened in the next three months to come back to him. That was December and I got pregnant the following January.
I used the clearblue OPKs and found them very helpful for tracking my cycle. After approx 6 months of ttc and nothing happening I started some acupuncture to help regulate my cycle. It was a bit nuts following many many years on the Pill. It helped to regulate it and it also was very relaxing. Maybe it did more for us maybe it didn't but overall it just takes one sperm and one egg.

I had a mmc in July of this year and got pregnant that time without really intending to. Sadly it wasn't to be.
I started back with acupuncture after that again to regulate my cycle and also for stress relief. I am now (I think, fingers crossed my scan next Tuesday will be good) almost 9 weeks pregnant again(8+3).
We certainly were not having sex 5-8 times per week I promise.

Congrats Penny Dreadful on your good news! Lucuna, We used the ClearBlue OPKs. What I found was that one month, I got a smiley on day 7 and the next month no smiley face at all, just the flashing smileys for a few days but they would be on completely different days from month to month, so I needed to use loads of them for one cycle, and they are expensive too . I also found myself getting really disheartened when I didn't get a smiley face but maybe I should give them another shot! I'm glad to know that 5-8 times a week isn't the norm, as I was beginning to think that we just weren't doing it enough. Thanks for the advice, just didn't expect it to be this difficult, had a much more romantic view of the whole process. Maybe that's what put me off the OPK's too.

Pink, if you order from ebay, you can get get a box of 50 OPK strips for about €10, I used them from around day 10 (I have irregular periods) and as able to pin point my ovulation. You can also using the temping method and other signs such as change in your cervical mucus.

We've been to a few doctors / nurses / Specialists at this stage and they have never said 5-8 times a week. We were told every second / third day from day 10 - day 24 (again this is because I have an irregular cycle).
