Well have to disagree, the bald look always makes me think of swiping my laser card on it.

    Its not natural.

Possible post of decade here imo.

Not if you leave it on for too long and it takes some skin off. OUCH :(

My friend owns a salon so i get it all off in there. With lots of painkillers taken beforehand.

the part that worries me about waxing is the apparently drooping affect that i've been told occurs after you wax for years.

    WHAT??

    Elaborate, please.

i read it and heard that from a beautican. the skin loses its elasticiticity [sic]
the same with eyebrows. i reserve both for special treats and use other methods, maybe i'm being too careful.

I came on this tread cause was thinking of going the whole hog and getting a Hollywood.

Never got it waxed down there before, except one time when i put one of those ready to use wax strips on the front and ended up with a very weird bruse  (bordem will be the death of me i tell ya!)
    but now im having second thoughts after reading this;

spinandscribble;the part that worries me about waxing is the apparently drooping affect that i've been told occurs after you wax for years.

    Is this really true?
I'm aware that it says after waxing for years but think it's a bit mean letting my boyfriend feel smooth tarmack then make him go back to the gravel if you know what I mean

The same with EYEBROWS? Now I'm terrified.

I get my brows waxed twice a month... If I was to pluck them I'd spend six months of the year keeping them at bay.

    Damn black hair. Grrr.

There is a new place opening up in Blackrock called CityWax - they specialise in waxing only so they would want to be damn good at it!

ladies ladies ladies, i dunno what you are all on about! there are too many pages of women moaning about the pain here so maybe this point has been raised already (and im sorry if thats the case!)

im 21 and had never got a brazilian (or any wax at all) done because id heard all this about it bein agony.... well finally plucked up (no pun intended!!) the courage and booked an appointment in Brazilia and went for their brazilian.

all i can say is that i genuinly am such a wimp, no pain threshold at all, but it was grand! it was a tiny bit sore here and there but it was more discomfort than actual pain! and to be honest 99% of everything was takin away!!

giving you all the benefit of the doubt, i know brazilia use a special type of wax designed not to hurt, so maybe i shouldnt moan until i try out the normal wax, but to be honest ive no plans to do that when i can use the non-pain wax in brazilia !! lol you should all just go there :P

No worries hunnymonster - just saw the last comment from moretothegirl and they are using the same wax in CityWax. I went to Brazilia for the Hollywood and was fairly terrified going in but I was really surprised - it wasn't anything near as painful as I had expected so I'm bloody delighted that they will be using the same stuff closer to home. :)

Im glad you had such a painless experience however there are no specialist places like brazilia or urban wax down the west here so we have to suffer! and to add insult to injury the place where i used to get it done has now closed down (the recession bites again) so i have to go dig through "specialist waxing in connaught" thread again to sift through for other recommendations!
However if on one of my rare trips to the big smoke i decided to go to brazilia or urban wax, how far in advance would i need to be making an appointment and how much are they charging!? oh and do they do a student discount!?

I don't normally venture into this area but I know the folks at CityWax cause my office is very close to where they are. They are good people involved with it. I found their website via google but don't know if I'm allowed to link to it so I better not. Judging from the waxing demand it looks like they do well!

i use the one in sandyford and to be honest it doesnt seem busy to me so i wouldnt say you need to much advance notice. the one in city centre is prob busy enough though but i still dont think they are booked out far in advance. unfortunately no student discount, as i checked that out myself :(
full brazilian is 52 euro, if you google brazilia you will find their fab website that gives all their prices

If you wanna go to Brazilia, you need to book WELL in advance, like a few weeks - especially if you want a Saturday booking.

Oh and Sandyford is beside Dundrum!

I go to Brazilia in Sandyford and have Jenny do my waxing. She's really good. I get the Brazilian done and it's absolutely minimal pain. There's a tv you can watch in the room while it's being done and she chats away to you as well. I was scared before I went the first time, but it's definitely not sore. Supposedly they use a special type of wax.

For the embarrassment - I've had spray tans, smear tests, etc where you need to show some of yor bits, so I was used to it. You just have to be mature about it, they're not interested in looking at your bits!
