Not my pet, but I was in Shaunas yesterday getting a few bits, and I saw this little guy. I so badly wanted to bring him home IMMEDIATELY. Just looks like a total legend.

Max went to sleep last Friday morning after spending the last seven and a half of his 12 years with us. This was taken just two weeks beforehand in his happiest place, the car :)

Max is such a handsome boy! We have a belgian shepherd and they are such lovely, loyal dogs. So sorry to hear he has gone to sleep but am sure you gave him the happiest life and loved his as much as he loved you :) Thinking of you and your family at this tough time.

Here's Jemmie who I posted about over on the lost & found thread. She's recovering very well at home from her accident.

:D Go Isabella! She's so cute. I'd LOVE a pet hamster, gerbil or rat, but I'm "not allowed". I think the cat would move out.

She looks like she has a proper little personality in such a teeny little body.

You'd be surprised! Mine didn't pass much heed of them, she'd watch them but was more interested in eating the hay out of the cage rather than the hamster!

Here she is with a very elderly poorly Ernie not long before he passed.

    And keeping watch over Dora!

I'd get another one in a heartbeat after I finish college, such little characters in tiny bodies! :D

Ernie looked like a little legend. :)

They are so funny and just... Weird. They do the most random stuff for no reason at all. Isabella likes peeing in her sandbath and bathing in her toilet litter. Sigh.

Ah Zap your cat is so good! Mine would probably be afraid. I had a 5 week old kitten in the house on Monday night and he was TERRIFIED (not the kitten). I really think he'd take less than kindly to another pet.

How much interaction do they like?

He was, he had a twin called Bert too! Bert was the socialable one that always came out to be handled first, Ernie was always the nippy one if you tried to take him out of the cage when he didn't want to come out, his nips were like tiny pinches though! Bert went first, after that Ernie loved being handled and stopped nipping as much, maybe he missed the company. Dora was a little madam for handling, I remember her slicing into my finger the night before my leaving cert english exam! Syrian teeth are like knives!

I think mine was slightly reserved about them too, used to like to sit and observe them inside the cage or the bath but never tried to catch them. They technically are nocturnal but generally they will wake up if they hear you around the room, especially in the evening time, suited me anyways because I'm usually up til all hours.
How much they like being handled depends on the hamster and how you get them used to it in the early days, the dwarves I could walk around the house with them exploring my hoody and running from hand to hand, the syrian I could only handle when needed, she was a biter and gave very deep nasty bites when she wanted despite me trying all the tricks in the book for taming her.

Haven't had a chance to post any picks of my 2 since moving to Malta, so here's a few...

    214.jpg

Malta recently opened the first dog park. Brought them down but was only able to let one of them in as the Newfoundland is a bit big to rough housing with the other dogs
